The majority of the times I have gone to this store I have been met with unfriendly employees who have little to zero knowledge, experience or general customer service skills. That was partially different for me yesterday. I saw an employee, made eye contact with him, he saw me turned in the other direction and walked away. I kept following him and came upon him talking with other employees about a local restaurant that was good. I asked him about a specific item. He said, "that is in tools" I said I am in the tool isle and I still cannot find this. He said, "I dont know its in tools." I walked away frustrated. I then approached some employees working near paint and asked for help. One woman barelylooked at me and said, "I dont know" then finally Christopher Ramirez (millwork specialist) stepped up and walked over and helped us find this item. He proceeded to help us find many other items and even inspired us to purchase some other items. The last time I came to purchase some plumbing items a young man said to me, "I dont know I am just working here to pay for my school." While we understand finding good customer service, knowledgeable staff and corporate integrity is next to nowhere these days we still have the choice of spending our hard earned dollars at your store. Unfortunately it is convenient for us. If not for Christopher we would drive out of the way from now on. His work ethic exceeds his peers, from what we observed, and I hope in the pool of greed and corporate lack of integrity you will find it in your hearts to give him a raise, promotion and reward his work. Home Depot does not seem to care about regular customers anymore. Perhaps taking care of inept employees should not be a practice. How about rewarding the good ones and hiring people who need jobs who arent slackers.

A Home Depot employee approached me and asked me if he could confide in me a secret about the manager Jose Mendez I said sure What is it. He said his manager is tired of the losses that the store was having through theft he asked if I would set people up that he knew were stealing but he just could not catch them. well he asked again one night to help him. well he set this customer up. he made up this scheme and tried to get him arrested but it back fired on him. he set up a very loyal and honest person. I personally witnessed him beat this guy up and the fire rescue had to take him to the hospital. The guy did nothing wrong and later on we found out that the guy suffered a stroke and almost died. Jose used to be in a gang. its obvious to a lot of employees that Jose is a racist and what he did that poor man was outrageous. The guy buys a ton of stuff here. Jose threatened him and beat this guy down we all saw the reciept for the tool the guy bought but Jose had already beat him up and it was too late for any of us to do anything about it. I no longer care if I get fired. There is a group of us that is going to write a letter to the district manager. Something has to be done. Some customer is going to get killed here one day and I dont want to be a party to it. How can we tell a manager no that were not going to help him. I have seen people get fired for saying No to him already

Consistently takes broken returned equipment and puts it back on the shelves, almost every item I have bought there has turned out to be broken, missing parts or both. And they dont care, I have talked with just about every ASM (store manager) that works there and they have issued several credits, but they obviously dont care that their stuff is all broken. I tried to buy a welder and had to go through 3 before we ended up shipping from another store, EVERY one of them was a return but not marked as such, EVERY ONE was broken and or missing parts. Tried to buy a bolt cutter last night, both of the items they had in stock were chipped and dull, obviously used. The ASM on duty, PETER, made me wait 20 minutes and put out 5 calls before he showed up, and then he sat stone faced and had nothing to say, He acted like I wasnt even there. Van Nuys Home depot has SERIOUS quality control and staffing issues. Having built a house and 2 large work trucks out of home depot in Seattle, I am APPALLED at the level of incompetence and lack of work ethic at this store. The only guys who seemed to care about their job there were the guys in tool rentals. If only there was another hardware store that wasnt 10 miles away. Looks like Im stuck with this horribly run store.

Wasted 40 min waiting 25 min for a 25 sec.return and another 15 just to find out that the 2 keys I wanted to make were both out of stock because the first one was simple and the other one the most common. Only one person was at the return register struggling not to make any mistake since the customer had brought around 40 small items ( different sizes of screws,e.t.c ) no receipt, so she had to do everything manually. After I asked her to call for help I heard from the speakers somebody calling for help 3 times. 10 min later another employee finally came and started helping the rest of us.the store is full of cameras but nobody cares if customers or even employees need help. That return was definitely an exception so they should have a special register for difficult returns. After waiting for so long and not having made the keys I needed I asked to speak to a manager . The young girl listened to my complaints , said she is sorry for my inconvenience and that I didnt have to pay for the lamps I was going to buy . Her actual words: "you dont need to pay for this, just take it and Merry Christmas ". Well that made my frustration bigger since I do not need charity but respect as a customer at one of the biggest stores

Thursday, September 29, 2016: Ordered four 3 x 8 3/4" sheets of wood to be cut from 4 x 8 precut sheets and to be picked up by my worker on Saturday. Saturday, October 1, 2016, 8 p.m.: Worker picked up and brought the product. Problem: Product was not cut - it remained in its original 4 x 8 form, a completely useless form for my needs. Sunday, October 2, 2016 9 a.m.: I called Home Depot. Denisse (with 2 ss) answered the phone. I told her the problem. She put me on hold for less than 2 minutes. She stated that they will deliver to me, this morning (Sunday, October 2) the proper product and retrieve the incorrect product. 90 minutes later, Denisse and Kim, arrived with the proper product, they unloaded it and placed it at the location of my choosing, and retrieved the old product. Pleasant, immediate correction, and five star deserving. Mistakes happen and it is HOW they are addressed that is so important. I am a Home Depot fan now.... and btw: if you look at the Lowes (on Corbin) reviews of a week ago, you will see how a mistake can be handled poorly and they received ONE star from me. Thanks Denisse and Kim. You both did so great. Way to go Home Depot!
