Updated review: March 2014 Update: the car, which they stated would explode on the freeway was still going strong 1.5 years later and I took my business to BMW of Santa Maria and drove away with a new BMW. Original review: 9/18/12: I have been a customer of Coast BMW Nissan since 2003. In the past 9 years, I have purchased multiple brand new vehicles from Coast including a BMW X5, a Nissan Titan and a Nissan Altima. Fast forward to today- I am now a single mother (2 little ones) and trusted that I would find the same quality service and honesty that I came to know over the years. After my experience this week, I can honestly give them 1 star. If there was an option to go lower than one star, I would do it. I could write a short novel about my experience with Coast over the past few days or I can sum it up with a few sentences which I am opting for. Unless you intimately know the ins and outs of purchasing cars, I would not recommend that you buy a car from Coast Nissan BMW. After speaking to other people in the car industry about my experience at Coast this weekend, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that they were preying on my naivety and trying to overcharge me greatly. I usually reserve the word, "Bullying" for describing elementary school activities but unfortunately, I discovered that this carries over into adulthood. The new management team came in this year claiming that the customer comes first. The new GM was quoted by the Tribune as saying, "I feel like Im coming back home to a smaller community where everyone knows your name," he said. "Im looking forward to becoming a part of the community." Being an active member of the business community myself, I can say that the quoted goal is not aligned with the actual experience by any stretch of the imagination. ***Edited to note: My other experience with them on the same visit consisted of them telling me that my current car (A Volvo) was so unsafe to drive that it would explode in a ball of fire on the freeway due to an excessive oil leak. Today, I took my car to a reputable, local mechanic who is an authorized Volvo repair shop. My total car repairs will amount to about $800 -- not the $2,800 that I was quoted by John in the service department. In addition-- my car is NOT going to explode or catch fire. UNREAL.

One star ...only because no star is not an option. But the business and service overall do not deserve a star. It all started 3 years ago when I went to coast Nissan to buy a pathfinder, to make a long story short, they lied and they are the typical salesmen you can not trust. When we made the deal, the salesman told me the car that I liked had to be transported from a different city. The next day, he told me its on its way and was being delivered and should be ready in the morning. The night before, I called to make sure and mr salesman said the car arrived and that it was being washed for me. I came in the next morning, the liar wasnt there to face me and none of the salesman would help me and the manager said they werent able to find a pathfinder with the color that I wanted. What do you do in a situation like that? It was very frustrating and promised not to deal with these people again. i ended up going to SF to buy the pathfinder and was very happy with the purchase at walnut creek Nissan. Coast Nissan is terrible and nobody should buy anything from them. Now a week ago, I found a used Denali on their lot while driving by. I walked in, I figured the car is already here so there shouldnt be a problem. Was also told that its under new management and all staff is new etc, so i Bought the car only to find out that night online that the selling price is $5000. lesser than what they sold it to me for...came back the next day to see the manager, he grabbed some guy who was supposed to be a GM with foods stuck in his teeth etc..all they had to tell me was it was a misprint. Oh well, then I asked about activating the free trial of XM and on star as it was stated In the ad, they said, it was a misprint too haha gotta love em. I love the car but the experience was horrible. Nobody even showed us how to operate everything for the salesman had no clue how to do it himself! He was trying to force folding the seats manually when theyre all powered. Anyway, Im done with Coast Nissan.

What a waste of my TIME! I have spent weeks, months working with the sales people at Coast Nissan and only received a slue of empty promises and wasted time. They had me come in to work my deal that they promised me on three occasions and all of their quotes fell through once I got there. I have never worked so hard to buy a car from a dealer in my life! Although she was nice, our sales person did not call us back, repeatedly and we had to contact her dad, the manager, to get a response to our request for a quote, which inevitably ended up not being anywhere close to what we were promised. On Memorial day we gave it our last effort and went to the dealership to make a purchase. We were sat in a room and left for over an hour with no service. When my husband complained he was told the sales person was busy selling cars and moved to a different office with our two small children and waited longer. He was told to call back tomorrow and someone would help him...LAST STRAW. We called Nissan of Santa Barbara the following day, had a deal done over the phone that met all of our needs by lunch and SANTA BARBARA even drove the car all the way to our house to earn our business!!! Can you believe it? Why bother with poor customer service from Coast Nissan, when SANTA BARBARA NISSAN will make your dreams come true over your lunch hour and front door service! Sorry Coast Nissan, we gave you all the opportunities in the world to sell two separate cars on more than one occasion, WE WILL NEVER WASTE OUR TIME AGAIN!!!!
