I cannot speak more HIGHLY regarding my recent experience here! After having had my cherished Toyota declared a TOTAL LOSS by my insurance company after someone rear-ended it at high speed, I had just a few days to find & purchase a replacement vehicle due to my overloaded schedule. Since I fell in love with the Hyundai Sonata rental car my insurance company hooked me up with, I decided to look into purchasing one and came upon the rave reviews on YELP regarding Capitol Hyundai. Well, I have to say that its OBVIOUS to me now that all those great reviews are ALL GENUINE because everyone I came into contact with there was not only courteous and professional, but they were also NOT pushy or "phony nice". I have to give credit to their general manager (who I didnt get to meet) for running such an EXEMPLARY dealership. While I was there, they had an internal award ceremony going on in the back for being the #1 rated dealership in Northern California! Im sure that having that kind of standing gives them an edge to be able to offer lower prices than other dealerships and offer more attractive financing terms and options - of which I was more than pleased to take advantage of. I also have the deepest regard for the "boots on the ground" sales managers I worked with (Ryan & James) who both went ABOVE & BEYOND to make sure that I not only had a pleasant experience, but also ended up with the model and options that were just right for me at and at the best price I could find in the Bay Area. Due to their expertise, I couldnt be happier with my purchase! The financing went extremely smooth and everything was made crystal clear by Finance Director Jason and Finance manager Reza. Both my trusted mechanic and the owner of the body shop that inspected and appraised the damage on my totaled vehicle (Active Auto Body in Sunnyvale, which I also would rate with 5 SOLID stars) told me that Hyundai vehicles come with one of THE BEST warranties available in todays new car marketplace. And after reading about peoples good maintenance and repair experiences at Capitol Hyundai, I also went ahead and bought a maintenance package that is extremely convenient and will save me a lot of $$$. So all that, combined with a car thats super fun to drive and that looks and feels $5-7K more than what I actually purchased it for = nothing short of a WIN WIN for me. So I thought the best way to thank them was to write this candid review and let others here in the Bay Area know of my 5 star experience here.

I could not be more disappointed with this place. Now, to be fair, I did not actually make it in to the service center, as my experience leading up to my (finally) scheduled appointment was SO bad. The initial process of booking an appointment is horribly difficult, there is no confirmation email despite them insisting otherwise when I called to confirm, and the staff is openly rude with seemingly zero regard for customer service standards. Being new to California, I initially tried to book my appointment thru Bluelink, but even their courtesy staff struggled with Capitol Hyundai which is the closest dealer location to my new home. It took over a month for me to finally get an appointment for services that were critical as I travel via car for work throughout the west coast. Upon booking, I voiced my shock that there was no assistance offered for the warning light despite being informed I would be driving from San Jose to Sacramento the following week. I was told to "find someplace else if its an emergency". Then when I tried to be courteous & cancel my appointment rather than stand them up (because I did indeed decide to try for someplace else with better customer service), Ron informed me that he couldnt cancel & that I could either call tomorrow after 7:30AM or go online. When I tried to clarify the website (mind you, I was driving during this conversation), he acted as if I was really inconveniencing him and hung up on me. I, of course, called back giving him the benefit of the doubt as he had no reason to hang up & surely, it must have been a bad connection (right...). Once again, he made it seem like not only was I a pain, but also that I could not comprehend his simple words. Plainly speaking, he was RUDE. Ive been loyal to Hyundai Service Centers across 3 states, but this was the worst experience. It is what it is. Ultimately, losing me as a customer is no big deal to Capitol Hyundai, Im sure. However, it is a shame that THIS is how they represent Hyundai as a whole to folks in San Jose, CA. To all those reading, I encourage you to come to your own conclusion, but be wary and do not allow Capitol to disrespect you. No service is worth that.

Id think twice about buying a used car here. After me experience, they are dishonest, dismissive, and predatory. I went to go look at a Honda S2000 they were selling at a premium price. Taking 5 minutes to visually inspect the car, I found evidence of an unreported front end collusion the car had been involved in. First off, the vin sticker on the bumper was missing from where it should be. Looking closer at the paint job of the bumper, paint was chipping and the middle of the bumper was lacking any clear coat, clear indications of an non-original and poor paint job. The salesperson acted like this was no big deal. But, if you guys perform such a thorough inspection on your used cars, shouldnt your mechanics have noticed this accident damage? This lack of transparency is either an indictment on the dealerships honest, or they competence. Im sure neither is very well developed though. Inspecting the car further you can see the use of an improper oil filter, tires, battery and dirty clutch and break fluid. To top it all of, the above mentioned issues should result in a reduced asking price? Commanding a premium price for a car that has clearly been mis-advertised and poorly maintained would be ridiculous. When asked, the salesperson informed me theyll reduce the car 500 dollars, for damage and maintenance it costs thousands to correct. Even worse, they informed me they have someone coming to buy the car tomorrow. Id be willing to bet the buyer isnt astute enough to have noticed the accident damage and is going to get a raw deal as a result. They dont care about treating the customer fairly however, only maximizing their dollar. In short, if youre looking to purchase a used car here, look elsewhere, their dishonesty and disinterest in negotiation with me as a serious buyer should be a serious warning sign to others.

12/27/2016 Today my son, his wife and I endured 3 hours of a classical "bate and switch" game at the Capitol Hyundai in San Jose, CA. We should have left at the first sign of trouble. That is on us. We are not experienced dealership customers. We speak with an accent and I believe our accent and foreign names were the reasons for this frustrating encounter. They didnt have the car we wanted (it was sold miraculously yesterday although it was still listed in the inventory today) but, fortunately, they had an older model for a "better price" that was printed out after a long struggle with computers and printers. We said we had a pre-approved loan and were ready to pay the quoted "better price" with a bank check. They decided to beat our banks loan offer and 30 minutes later a new quote was printed that was $3000 more than the first one! They insisted that we "misread" the first document. The new one had a much higher APR than we got from our bank, there was a "downpayment" of $2500 added to the previously quoted price, and, by the way, all the promised discounts were cancelled because we were "refusing their financing"!!!! They were cancelled on the quote for their financing offer!!! The salesman was constantly disappearing "to figure out stuff", lying, stalling, and trying to pressure us into a horrible deal. I keep thinking that, may be, my accent, or my blond hair made them think I was so stupid I could possibly buy that load of you know what??? My son and his wife kept their composure to the end but I have to admit that I lost it a bit. This was the most blatant and pathetic attempt of swindling I have ever witnessed. The sleazy and greedy salesmen from Capitol Hyundai in San Jose, CA are trying to intimidate and manipulate potential customers. Please do not expect them to honor any of their promises.
