The prices are not bad here. There is a few things about here that needs work. The place needs a big remodel. Of course when you remodel places like these super market establishments, the prices of the produce will increase. But I am fine with no re-modeling. The worst thing about this is the attitude of the staff. The cashiers are quite nice, but the dude packing ur food into the bags are rude. They dont seem to smile, unless they are making fun of you! The older males are quite nice and friendly. The new blood and younger men working here are drama. They give u a face when your telling they are packing things wrong. I had to return a few broken glasses and products because they didnt know how to pack right. They gave me a "face" like it was not their problem.. Really i was going to be generous with a 3 star rating, but this place is a 1-star. I spend about $200-$300.. and i get attitude from these new bloods? seriously? My family has been shopping here since 2004.. and we get this sort of treatment. TO me, I will shop here since my family does. But when I shop on my own, there are plenty.. and i mean plenty of places to shop. This isnt the only place to shop for chinese groceries.

For the first time in my life I felt discrimation against me in a Chinese place, and Im Chinese!! First thing I walked in the security guard asked me to take out my purse (small back pack style due to my back pain) and leave it in the front of the store, after explaining several times to the limited English security guard, he finally said another option is to check my purse on my way out. So I took that option, and while in the store I came upon a guy in shirt with walkie and asked him wheres the manager, and he said hes the manager, and while trying to understand why Im asked to leave my purse in front of store he did not try to explain rather he defended their policy, and in the mean time he dropped his heavy box on my leg, scraping off my skin about 5 inches!! He did not even apologize for his careless and continued to defend their policy. This will be my last time shopping at Hawaii Supermarket, might be pressing charges on the store for discrimination and body damage.

This is a good supermarket. But, the reason I rate this a 2-star is because of the staff. The poor staff needs an attitude adjustment. I hate to say it that the men here that work here must be on their menstrual cycle. They are never smiling and to me it seems they dont like working here. I have seen them only smile when others speak Vietnamese to them. Otherwise, I feel like a stranger amongst them. I shop here with my family many times and have gotten to know the staff very well. But, you can feel the tension between the staff when you enter the market and exit. Sure, its a great market for produce and seafood. There is definitely a big selection for most of what to choose for, but I can shop at 99 ranch and get the same products for a little more expensive, but better moods. I like to shop at a place where the mood is warm and welcoming.

My wife and I are from Las Vegas and we venture into California about once a month and on our latest journey we found Hawaii Supermarket. While driving around the neighborhood we noticed a heavy Asian influence...... I thought there was only the one China Town in LA. PROS: Well stocked. Fresh Produce with low prices I wish they sold coolers some of the produce was very inexpensive. helpful staff, even the patrons were helpful. CONS: I am much larger than the average Asian and the isles were a little tight for me. The parking lot had small parking spaces. All in All it was a Good experience I know the next time we visiting we will be bringing our coolers!

Great place, with quality products and very competitive prices. This market sells south-east Asian ingredients, of a greater variety, and a lower price-point, than any other market in the county. And the veggies I believe are of better quality than those of 99 Ranch market. Unlike other Asian markets, it carries a diverse selection of Western liquors and beers at prices, besides its vastest collection of Chinese wines and liquor. I always come here to get my groceries. People here are very friendly in helping you find what you need. Since the parking lot is rather frustrating sometimes, try not come during rush hour.

Good variety of groceries, but it is dirtier and more disorganized than Ranch99 next door. The placement of products dont have any logical order, so you have to spend much time looking for what you want. Not impressed with employees as they are understaffed and uncooperative staffs at meat and seafood depth, where there are only 2 staff prepare seafood for long line of customers while there are more staff just sitting around pretending to work.

They have a lot of variety food. Today I visited the store to buy some bitter melon. I was told it was in one of the bins. I told them those were old and some are moldy. The guy refuse to bring new ones because he said they were still good. I also notice some of the fruits are not so good and some are way over ripe and they dont remove from the bin. This store used to be good but now not anymore. Guess their standards are down. Too bad:(

When people talk about the SGV, this market is definitely in the heart of the area. Pretty much walking in the market you can smell chinese/vietnamese. Everyone here is asian and they speak the language fluently. Dont expect the cleanliness of an american market like Vons. Youll be seeing more than you bargained more. Parking is horrible but people still come here for the low prices.

It located corder of del mal street in san gabriel, good location, but result very bad parking. Is hard to find especially during peek business hour. The store actually has one of most item you can find for asian relelated product (mostly chines) in san gabriel valley. Definite has the most noodle product i had see, if you wonder where to buy those noodle cup here is the place.

I love to go here for specialty health food items and products. I can feed my large family products for very cheap in comparison to other grocery stores. You do have to be a bit choosy as not all of the produce is in the best condition but this is not as much of a problem as it could be or I would not bother going. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is upbeat.

Everything in there are messy, and the place smells awful. The place feels so dirty that I dont even want to be in there for more than a minute. The parking lot is insane. I just saw someone got an accident from backing out. I do admit that they have good prices on many products, but do I feel safe to eat food coming out of that place is another question.
