This is by far the best coffee establishment for sitting outside and to "people watch" as you enjoy your latte/special drip coffee/ cappuccino. I love their coffee so much that I still manage to buy beans when Im in the area and bring them back home with me. They have been selling Pepples vegan donuts long before Pepples had their stand in the Ferry Buildings Market Place. Cole also makes/serves breakfast; but nothing too complicated.. You best bet is to grab a fresh baked accompaniment from their baked goods case to nibble on with your coffee beverage.

Cole Coffee still serves THE BEST coffee in the Bay Area. I had my first sip of its robust Maxs blend over 20 years ago when it was called "Royal Coffee", and the coffee poured here remains what a cup of joe is supposed to smell and taste like. Many trendy places have moved towards under-roasting their beans, following in the footsteps of the commercially successful Stumptown Roasters. But these beans end up acidic and without any body. If you order your coffee via mail......get it from Cole Coffee (formerly Royal Coffee)

Really enjoyed the ambiance in this cafe. Very very cozy feel but with not so much inside sitting space (alot of outside sitting space though!). The coffee selection they have is very diverse and they taste very bold and strong which I enjoy. They dont overcharge, which goes for around $2 for a medium size coffee, so definitely a place to come back to multiple times to try out different flavors without breaking the bank. Come here early in the morning to get the best seat in the house.

This is the BEST coffee around! Mike gets Organic and Fair Trade coffee as often as possible, Im sure. And the coffee they brew to sip is fantastic. The baristas know how to make coffee right (not burned tasting and/or mouth burning as some places do). And the coffees strong, which I like. One can go next door to sit inside; and there are small tables and an often sunny wall across the street for sitting outside. Strong community of regulars and interesting people to watch.

An awesome local coffee shop featuring about 18 coffees and a variety of roasts. Drip-cup coffee made to order and all the quality espresso drinks that youd expect. Locals love the poached eggs on La Farine toast. Mostly outside seating with just a few tables inside. Local tip: get a free cup of coffee when you buy your beans at their retail shop next door.

This is a local neighborhood institution. Best coffee in the neighborhood. So much better then overpriced and overhyped Philz across the street. They also serve breakfast and the place is filled with locals. I am a regular here. The lines may sometimes seem long because the place is kinda small but they are very efficient. And consistently good.

I can not say enough good about the ambiance, the flavor, the vibe, and the good buzz that is sitting at Cole Coffee and having a fresh made drip coffee, in one of their fat diner mugs. Sit outside on a nice day, drink the best cup of drip in the East Bay, look at the mountains, contemplate how good life is. My absolute fav.

Some say that place in Anaheim is the Happiest Place on Earth, but nope, its at 63rd and College Ave in Oakland. Best coffee ever, perfectly poached eggs, superior sourdough toast and magical berry jam. Locally owned, mellow crowd, no-nonsense backroom store for expedited service. And the owner is an awesome dude.

This is my favorite place to get beans in the East Bay. A quality roaster with full bodied (not scorched) dark roasts. Definitely not third wave, but that just means their roasts have more variety. Their cafe is great, too. Its one of the only places I know where their mochas arent overly sweet. What a great place.

Efficient, fast moving local coffee shop. Good waffles, poached eggs and sourdough, morning buns and of course coffee. Usually within 10 mins you can find a seat even on a weekend morn bc lots of people get things to go. Nice outside tables on the sidewalk!

Amazing coffee, fast WiFi, great atmosphere, and hipster as all get out. Whether you just want a refreshing blast of caffeine and a place to work on homework or want to sip an iced tea and talk with friends, go on a date this is the perfect place for you.

Certainly one of the best for coffees and coffee beans next door in the Bay Area! Pints of select coffees individually prepared in cone filters. Breakfast foods are modestly potioned, but very good. Outside seating, and comfortable inside.

Love this local coffee spot. Ive actually never ordered anything from their shop physically on college since I am usually on the run, I go to their smaller place right next door down 63rd for no-nonsense coffee getting. Good stuff!

I dont get the great reviews. We stopped in because the reviews were so good. We had a double cappuccino and mocha. The drinks were fine. The seating space is very limited and uncomfortable. There is no Wifi!

Coles has the best coffee in the neighborhood, and the neighborhood includes Peets, Starbucks, and Philz, among others. And Coles isnt cheap, but its a lot cheaper than Philz.

My only source for coffee beans and drip coffee on the weekends. Maxs Blend is very dark, all-up-in-your-grill kinda variety. May not be possible to brew coffee any stronger

Solid, in fact, excellent coffee. No power outlets or WiFi though, and even if there were, its too small to feel like a place where you could work on a laptop.

Best and most reasonably priced coffee in the bay area for the quality they provide. Excellent place to relax and read while enjoying a delicious cup.

There really isnt any better roaster. Even when I moved out of Oakland, I still had then ship their beans to me.
