My budget was $400 for a new laptop and because I am fairly picky about electronics I purchase, I had a lot of questions. I was helped by two mediocre employees, one who told me that for my price point, anything I got would need to be replaced in 2 years. When I asked what characteristic about the computer would cause it to only last that long, he shrugged and said "It will just be old". Wow. The other wasnt any better, and when I was making my purchase, he got into an argument with a customer who was just trying to ask him a question. When the customer left he proceeded to speak negatively about the customer to me. At this point I thought about not even buying the computer but it was a good deal so I continued. At this point he reminded me that because I had bought the display model, I needed to come back later to pick it up so they could make it like-new. This is totally understandable and I was looking forward to coming back whenever they called to pick up my new toy. They called later that day saying it was ready to be picked up. When I walked in the store I was directed to a very long line at customer service. I was pretty bummed about waiting in line to pick up something I had already paid for, but it was about to get worse! The woman at the desk took my name and number and said that I needed to be "checked in" by the Geek Squad. I said I literally just needed to pick up the computer and didnt want to talk to the Geek Squad however she insisted and then told me I would have a 30 minute wait. I was so irritated, yet still I held onto the idea that the Geek Squad would tell me something very helpful and I would be glad I had to talk to them. No. After 30 minutes of my precious time forced to stand waiting in best buy after I had already chosen and paid for my computer they called me to say my computer was finally ready, actually ready. And instead of smiling and telling me something, ANYTHING helpful I received my computer in a hurried handful of metal and wires. No box, no bag, no helpful information just 30 minutes of waiting for absolutely nothing. Dear Best Buy, Make sure your customer service representatives dont hate humans. Also make sure they encourage customers to buy computers within their price range especially when you have over 10 models that do. Also, when you call to say that somebodys computer is ready, dont lie. Finally, after you force someone to go through your Geek Squad simply to pick up their NEW computer please dont email them over 5 times in the 2 following days with useless information about my "account". I hope we never see each other again and that your company and Mandela store-wide policies can be adjusted so they do not enrage normally happy and reasonable people. Sincerely, Dissatisfied

Till date i have always shopped at best buy for almost everything. And i have only been to this particular store twice in the past 15 years and believe it or not both the times i got the worst customer service from the mobile department. The employees dont seem to care. Heres my experience. I went to Pinole BB to buy a new iPhone 5s for at&t. Once i got there i asked about an open box and was told that emeryville had an open box and that i would be given a $50.00 off the price of the phone because of the open box. So trying to save myself some money i immediately rush to this store and once i get there i get introduced to "Michelle(the mobile expert)". and wasnt she an expert only in showing her attitude and not wanting to help. anyways so i found out when i got there that i was not going to get the $50.00 off of the open box. i would have to pay the same amount i would be paying for the new phone to get the open box(some policy). i mean why in the world would someone pay the same amount for the new phone and open box? wouldnt i just buy the new one. i would be stupid if i would buy the open box. (common sense)! Then the second issue popped up. I had signed up for $50.00 gift card on my line (stating that if i buy a new phone or upgrade i would get $50.00 off of the purchase. AND AGAIN POLICY ISSUE. i didnt get that either. The only reason i went here was because i was told by Pinole BB that i would be saving $100.00 and only b paying $50.00 for the phone instead of $149.99. I talked to the MANAGER. AND EVEN MANAGER DIDNT CARE TO BOTHER ABOUT ANYTHING... WORST STORE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE... WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. RIDICULOUS.....

I can not see going back to this store ever again. I called to see if they had an item in stock. I had to explain it over and over again to the moron on the phone what it was, and still she got it wrong several times. Then she says they have it and will hold it at Customer Service for me. I go to customer service and wait, and wait, and wait (only two people in line ahead of me) with people moving around me at a glacial pace. I guess they do not realize that sundays are busy and employees are expected to work. When it is finally my turn, the woman takes my name, gets the slp of paper with my request, then spends several minutes trying to get the attention of someone to get me my order. It turns out that contrary to what they said, they do not hold items at the desk. I ask if I should just go to the department and get it, and the girl says "if you want." Now I have been there 30 minutes, so I go to the department and then spend several minutes trying to convice the sales associate to sell me the item! It is like they do not want you to shop there! I finally convince her to sell me the device, and leave pd off and after what should have been a 5 minute visit has been extened to a 45 min visit by lazy, uncooperative, and ignorant staff. When I mentioned that I just had a horrible electronics store experience to some friends, they immediately all said, "Oh, you must have gone to Best Buy in Emeryville." Apparently this place has a well deserved bad reputation.

Dont buy online. I bought Xbox 360 game online. It said "Available at ... Pinole" and so I clicked and bought it. Then they sent email confirming my purchase but cautioned me not to go to pick it up until I received a SEPARATE email telling me to do so. Then they sent me an email saying "no longer in stock at Pinole, call us at (listed 800 number) within 8 days or we will cancel your order. Now, they had ALREADY charged my credit card. So I was forced to call the number--there was no option to confirm my order by email. When I called, they answered: "If you dont know the extension, please hold and someone will be on the line to direct your call in less than 5 minutes." In 3 minutes a live lady came on the phone. I was elated and told her my problem. She directed my call to "customer service" where--no joke--the recording told me the wait was "over 20 minutes." They were right about THAT!! When I finally got a 2nd person, she told me the Pinole store was showing it had 7 copies of my game. I asked her Why was the email telling me the Pinole store didnt have the copy I had ALREADY purchased? She didnt know. She redirected my order to EMERYVILLE store. So I got another email directing me to WAIT for an email for permission to pick up at Emeryville. This took all day. Now I have the pick up email--but its 7:10 pm on Sunday and the store closed at 7 pm. These guys are NOT ORGANIZED.
