This place is great . I like this place because they have them in Europe and back east in Chicago. Theres so much better than most California chain grocery stores. Their prices are like Smart & Final but their selection is better than Smart & Final. The selection is similar to Smart & Final crossed with Ralphs. Aldis saves you money in a bunch of unique ways. They dont stock name brands but often times you can find a few big-name items here or there. They have house brands and not a wide selection. Like when you go to Ralphs for tea they have 19 different brands of chamomile. Its not like that at aldi they only stock one brand of chamomile tea. Aldis also has a quarter deposit on their carts saving money by not having staff to fetch carts every hour and the carts get returned back to the front of the store. Unlike other stores where the carts are always never to be found in very busy times and tying the carts down prevents them from roaming the neighborhood then later coming back to the store sweaty and smelly. Aldi doesnt often have a large staff. This also saves money the staff only moves big pallets of items, stocks the freezer/refrigerator sections ,and runs the cash registers. The staff is well-paid, has great benefits, and a proper 40 hours week . This seems to be why the staff is friendly and to be in good spirits. The store is super new, clean ,brightly lit, the items are all well placed on the shelves ,and the air conditioning is great. Parking is adequate .

Aldi food quality is, at the very least, comparable to major national brands, if not better. Yes, the overall selection is much smaller than traditional grocery stores, but whatever is there is very good. In addition, they rotate many items to allow for variety and surprise, which is always a bit of fun to discover. People who are inconvenienced by having to return their cart to retrieve the quarter perhaps can appreciate not getting their car dinged by stray carts. Not having to pay someone to retrieve carts or losing carts to theft contributes to lower prices. Just like bagging your own stuff. Its not that hard! If the prospect of having to pay 15 cents for reusable bags, or bringing your own seems outlandish, well I gotta tell you this is already common practice in many other places. Its called being environmentally responsible, something I hope even Southern Californians will eventually adopt as being somewhat necessary. I for one really appreciate what Aldi has to offer and I hope they will prosper and grow in my neighborhood!

Despite the few good reviews this place will fold quicker than a wet napkin, for one the biggest inconvenience is the bagging system, you have to bring or buy Your own bags, then after the checker scans Your items they put Your groceries back into Your cart then you have to move Your cart to a location where you have to remove the items AGAIN from Your cart to bag them Yourself, also before all that happens there is shopping cart manipulation that takes place, next their is quarter system for the shopping carts, the shopping carts are locked together at the front of the store and you need to deposit a quarter to unlock the carts, so after you unload Your cart at Your car you have to walk all the way back to the front of the store to get Your quarter back, after you lock the shopping cart back to the other shopping carts, Ive seen this once many years ago and it didnt work then and it still wont today. I heard this is a New York company, well this is California and they are gonna have to learn the hard way.

Its taken some getting used to the layout of the store which is kind of wonky. Also, remember to bring your own bags or you will pay for them and bring a quarter for a cart or you wont be buying (or saving) much! When its crowded its difficult to get around the store. Its a little weird to have gardening items in the middle of the store but sometimes they have good deals on those items as well. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their brands. There are even some items that our family likes better than the brand name products. Prices are good on most items and if you dont like an item you can bring it back for a full refund and replacement. Makes it easy to try things without the risk. Sadly though, some of the items that we try and love they only carry for a short time and then they are gone which is very disappointing.

Im from Austria and back home its known as Hofer or Aldi, Hofer is originally from Austria and then merged I believe, with Aldi. I LOVE this place and was so excited that they opened one close to Riverside. Back home, Aldi has its own little bakery where you can get freshly baked goods, delicious pastries and bread. I hope that theyll start implementing that here too. I also wonder about how well they pay their employees in the US, as people that work for Hofer/Aldi get paid twice as much as competing grocers employees. They are a great company and Ive read that they are planning on going almost completely organic in the US. They definitely want to create brand differentiation by tapping into affordability as well as high quality. This is nothing new back home, as they are the most affordable organic grocery store in AT already!

Love this store! Bring your own bags and a quarter for your cart (youll get it back). Its smaller than a regular grocery store, so its quick to get through, but they dont have as large a selection as say, Ralphs or Vons, more like Trader Joes. They sell mostly their own brand generics, but you cant tell the difference from the name brands, with the one exception of their ranch dressing (dont buy that). As they ring you up, the checker puts your items into another cart and you take it to a long counter at the front of the store to bag them. We keep trying, but we cant spend $200 at this store. Weve piled our cart high too. Youll find quality products for great prices.

I was expecting really great things from this store. I really didnt like that I had to pay .25 for a cart. Not that its a lot but I never have change in my purse. Luckily I had a quarter to my surprise. I walked in and everything looked very organized. Thats pretty much the highlight of their store. I noted that they generally carry one name brand item for example chips ahoy and then I guess the store brand, so theres not much variety of cookies etc. I walked the first isle of this store and walked right out. I went over to winco. There I found an aldi employee shopping at winco. Basically this is an expensive .99 cent store. I will never be back.
