This review is of the makeup department only. I visited on suggestion from a Sephora employee who was out of stock of a foundation I was looking to try out. I made it over to Nordstrom where the lady in cosmetics seemed very busy on the computer. I waited beside her and two more people showed up while I waited. She offered to help to other two ladies first and when I asked a quick question I was taken aback to be frantically told to wait in line. When I explained I was there first, standing next to her while I waited for her to finish on the computer (she looked overwhelmed the entire time I was there, I didnt want to interrupt) I was told I wasnt. I exited the store for a moment at this point because I did not feel like arguing with the associate over who was there first I just had a simple question. When I made it back in a less frazzled gentleman was there to help me. When I asked for his suggestion on foundation shades, he did not bother to color match me, but took the time to ask another associate who glanced at me for less than a second what color I am. The only saving grace is that I opted for samples rather than buying - all my LA vacation pictures will now feature my face: the banana. The icing on the cake is that they gave me two samples and didnt bother to label them. Even if it did match how would I know what to buy? Horrible service so many times over.

RUDE! My friend recommended a beauty line by a British makeup artist that just came out. I wanted to go check out this product line. My friend and I went there yesterday. If im not working, I usually like to dress comfortable and not "trendy" Which means im not wearing high-end clothing. I was followed by a staff member the entire time I was there. Like im some sort of criminal! Thats not the worse part..... When I found the brand I came there to see I wanted to tested out the foundation. The moment I picked up the foundation the lady jumped in and would not let me grab the product. My friend and I were shocked at the reaction. She was like I could help you with that. I told her that I didnt not need her help. She stood next to me very close. I couldnt believe it! I told her that she is too close and invading my personal space. She rolled her eyes and took two steps back. At that point I had to tell myself to calm down and not give a reaction. It was very embarrassing. My friend told me to get a manager but I felt like There was no point. I know I would never shop here ever. This is just ridiculous. Unreal!

After a few hours of shopping, stop into the full service restaurant Bar Verde for lunch or dinner. They have a sleek, modern bar and make creative cocktails. The two day fermented sourdough bread is outstanding. Spread a little olive tapenade on top. This tapenade has three different types of olives, sun dried tomatoes, Extra Virgin Olive oil and capers. Its delicious. I really liked the fig and berry salad with Point Reyes blue cheese and panko chicken on top. The flatbreads are mighty tasty here too. The best is the hamburger. You can add avocado, bacon and a fried egg to make a complete meal. They serve a crumble dessert of the day with vanilla gelato. I loved the berry and pear crumble with oatmeal and brown sugar topping. Bar Verde is part of Nordstrom, so you get points when you dine. You can also use your Nordstrom gift card here. The service is good and the farm fresh food is excellent.

Im impressed that the modernization of the Grove is so light and airy. I am even more excited to try the restaurant this summer during the Grove Concert series. The only thing I dont like is that they took away the customer service area. Now you have to wait in line behind people when you want to return something, check on your account or ask other personal questions (in front of other customers in line or waiting). Nothing is perfect and the fact that Nordstrom has the best customer service, great displays and cool stuff makes up for my fun lookie loo. Of course I cant buy anything since Nordstrom took away the plus size section AND petite so I suppose its their way to say lose weight and grow taller! bwa ha ha

An employee at the Armani counter was probably the worst service I had. She was rude, and gave me the wrong product, which I found out when I went back home. I called customer service, and they put me on hold 3 times, and never picked up. I ubered back spending my own money, and Nordstrom said they can only exchange or return my money. This is ridiculous. The compensation for my time and money wasted should be coming from the employee or the company. It is their mistake, not mine. I have gone through a hassle, and I never want to have this experience again. They were not at all apologetic. Please train your employees properly, and have better customer service. This has been very disappointing.

All of the employees are super nice and helpful. They arent overbearing while helping you shop. I get my nails done by Van and Sophia. They are literally the best manicurists I have EVER been to. Theyre amazing. My gel mani always lasts over 2 weeks! I have a hectic work schedule and they are always willing to work with me. Their gel manis are also cheaper than other nail salons near by. Bar Verde is a great lunch spot on the weekend. The deck at Bar Verde overlooks the Grove-- and right next to the Christmas tree during the holidays! The turkey panini is my favorite. I practically live at this Nordstrom and absolutely love it!

KIDs SHOES department - worst service! I was there about 30 min. Nobodys greeting, nobody asks if I need a help... I was ready to pay and was waiting at the cash-machine if anybody finally will give me attention...After 10 min. a guy came to make pay the customer who chose her shoes and he absolutely didnt look at me, didnt say "hi", didnt call anybody else to make me pay....Then came another vendor-girl and...the same story- doesnt look, doesnt talk... I did say- "can I finally pay to anybody???" Then she printed the receipt. WOW! I never be treated in this way, in no one store. BAD SERVICE in this department!

My friend for many years is suffering and about to leave us after a long battle with cancer. I went to buy her favorite candle and called the Jo Malone counter and spoke with the lovely gentleman who had assisted my friend for years. He knew her, of course, and said he would be there to put something together for her. He then called me back 10 min later and said they wanted to give her the candle. He also hand wrote a note to her...it was beautiful. I will forever be thankful for their kindness. Its hard to find that level of customer service and humanity in a major department store in a massive city like LA. ♡

I have a personal shopper here in Denver and when she explained the way she was talked to and how rude the staff were,in womens shoes, as she looked for an item for me, I was shocked. I understand that its holiday and everybody is on edge but to completely dismiss someone who you might need help from in the future was sad. I will be telling all my friends and family in Los Angeles to shop elsewhere.
