Ive been in this store about five times over the past five years. Three times specifically to have a bike repaired. Each time, after telling them what I would like done, there has been a cursory glance at my bike in hand, then a look of mild disdain followed by the words "thats for you?" or "its probably not worth fixing". They than proceed to tell me I could buy something better. First time, I thought it was because I really did have a cheap beater bike. Second time was a better bike, which they quoted me about $100 to replace the axle/bearings on the rear wheel.... nothing fancy. Instead I chose to get a newer, used rim off of craigs-list for $35. (The bike in question was valuable enough to some one to steal it by lifting it 10ft in the air to get it off the street sign that it was chained to.) Now the third bike was a really nice bike bought for $3500 about nine years ago. I was met again with the look of disdain, and then told "Its going to be expensive to repair, and its a little small for you. Weve got some nicer new bikes that would work better for you." Geeze, I just want to REPAIR what I have. The frame alone on e-bay for my current bike sells for around $700! The mechanic did take the time to look at my bike a little more closely though... and then gave me an estimate of $213. That was to put a NEW rim on the rear, transfer the gear stack, and replace all the cables. (which actually are working fine... maybe just a little more resistance than new ones, but hey, have you ever heard of graphite powder? It works wonders for lubricating cables.... but then again, that wouldnt be NEW. ) Annoyingly, as he was preparing the estimate, he kept insisting that it would be better to buy a new one. "We have some starting at around $300.." Call me cheap, or call me old school. But Ive had bikes that lasted for 20 years by repairing and servicing them. Not everyone needs to ride a new bike every couple of years. In all fairness though, if you want to buy a NEW bike, check them out. They seem to have a large selection... just dont take it back to them when you want it repaired, because theyll try to sell you a new one. I wont be going back.

The reason I hate jax is I took my giant to them for a peak performance tune up which cost $129.00 I explain to the young guy what the issues were and said I just want it to ride the way it should with out the clicking I experience when I peddle hard the guy told me well take care of it along with a new chain I come back to pick up my bike in way less time than they said and as soon as I get there I ride around the block and the clicking is now worse way worse I tell the young guy that "repaired" it to take it for a ride he rides around the parking lot and then says I dont see what youre talking about so I say ride it again he does then comes back and says oh I see it then starts to explain to me that my crank is worn out and I need to replace it so I say well why would I come for a $129 repair to make my $1000 bike ride worse and you dont tell people if the parts are no good before you put it back together then I saw the owner in her new Cadillac truck and asked if she took her escalade in for service would she expect it to come back driving worse she said no then some young dildo worker tried to step in with poltical answers so I give it back and then waited to see if they can REALLY fix my bike I come back later after they "fix" it and it seems ok so I take it home a day later I look and notice they changed my crank I call and the guy says no we didnt do that unless you paid for it I said ok Im omw I get there and tell them that I dont really appreciate them replacing my crank first of all without my permission and secondly to an inferior crank the guy trys to explain to me that all cranks are the same blah blah blah they then take it back do some bs to it and say oh you needed like one or two bearings I say so you bycycle technicians didnt know a crank needs all its bearings anyway I leave with a bike that is semi repaired with cheap parts I work out of town so I didnt get to ride my bike for a while I come back ride it twice and the Damn clicking is back they honestly ruined my bike DONT GO THERE IF YOU HAVE A DECENT BIKE TAKE YOUR KIDS BIKE THERE BUT NOT AN ACTUAL REAL BIKE THEY SUCK AND SO DO THEIR NOT SO EXPERIENCED REPAIRMEN

THESE GUYS ARE GREAT! I wanted a Trek bike, but none of the two major Sports Stores dont carry it. Ive got Domane 5.2 here. Matt set me up with the bike of my dream! He spent two days with me to get me the right bike and then adjusting it fully to my specs. If this is not determination and commitment... This bike is now properly sized and fitted just for me. Just be patient and understand that it takes time to get the right bike. This is the place to go to if you have bicycle questions. Save yourself time, dont go to Sports Store with you bike questions- go to a shop, that sells bikes only! You wouldnt take your car for service to your dentists office, right? Also, Brent, Eric and Bill are great for servicing your bikes and in sales Anders, Andrew, Shawn and Matt are people to go to! Great shop ! ! !

I had to replace a damaged set of wheels after a crash on my 1990 Custom Medici. The mechanic at Jax, Anders, is a very thoughtful and knowledgeable guy. He looked at my bike and helped me to select a set of wheels that were "old school" and consistent with the classic appearance of my bike and great wheels at a reasonable cost. He built them up himself. They took some time but it was worth the wait and the wheels are working and riding very well. Stop by Jax if only to say hello to Anders and learn a bit more about your bike.

they checked out my bike and said it would cost 399.00 to repair. they offered 40 bucks and said I should buy a new bike. there was an older gentleman there who saw me looking at a beach cruiser and said, keep your bike, you dont want to buy a paper boy bike. I took my bike and left. I went to the bicycle stand on broadway. they tuned my bike, new chain new tire, new inner tubes. they were real good people. I have my original bike back, good as new for 114.00 bucks. even though jax is close to my house, Im going elsewhere!

This place sucks. Its a waste of time. Going in to spend on an expensive bike, I wait more than half an hour for help. Then I tell them another shop has a better deal, can they meet it--the guy days that the prices are fixed. Guess this shop isnt feeling the rescession. They make you feel dumb there too. Needless to say I bought my bike elswhere. It was recently stolen, so I need a better new bike, guess where i'm not going? Screw this crappy bike shop! Also I think their racist there.
