Over the past ten years, every bike we bought for our son came from Performance Bicycle in Fountain Valley. We have always been happy with the products and services. A few days ago, my son got a slow leak in his rear tire and I made the mistake of having him go to another shop in Western Huntington Beach for this simple repair. When he returned, he handed me a receipt for $24. While I was wondering why installing a $4.99 tube was so expensive, my son told me something was now wrong with his brakes. I inspected his rear wheel and saw the brakes were not functioning at all! I immediately called the Huntington Beach shop and asked them what happened to the back brakes. I was told the wheel was not straight and the brakes would not grip the tire correctly without repairing the wheel. I asked why the wheel was not fixed and was told that would be another $20 to $30. I then told him the brakes worked perfectly before and I was appalled that they would let my son drive home without mentioning that his rear brakes were gone. The Huntington Beach shop was completely unapologetic and repeated that if I wanted to get the wheel straightened, it would cost another $30 or so. At that point I hung up the phone and took my son and his bike to Performance. Within minutes, the bike was lifted on a rack and the wheel was being attended. After the wheel was adjusted, the excellent mechanic (Cameron) tightened the brakes and told my son to take a test ride. After being assured the brakes were perfect, Cameron refused to take any money and said that he just wanted to be sure the bike was safe. Obviously, there are two different philosophies behind Performance Bicycle and the other shop. For my money and sanity, Performance Bicycle has the one I can believe in.

“Performance Bikes” on Warner…Always good vibes, great attitude and down to earth service always. I was doing allot of research on road bikes and what bike store would have the best bang for the buck, was looking at the whole package pretty much. I was always getting allot of the other stores that would sell their "special", yea right...Good frame, bad group...why, why? Because they want to get rid of the old frames or their groups or wheel sets. Until I compared performance bicycles "CAVALO”…New carbon bike, started selling 2011. Great Carbon frame, great FULL group set SRAM, wheel set was a Plus… Vuelta Corsa Lite beating most of the other weigh inns of other wheel sets….At the price that it was purchased at Performance Bicycles was no where what the competition can offer…Every time I go into this location, always greeted no matter how busy. Jon the “Manager” very knowledgeable, steers you in the right direction and always works with you on what you may be looking for. Whether you’re a noob, novice or expert into biking, this store “Performance Bicycles” has everything that you’ll need at great and unbeatable prices..

The only reason i shopped here was certainly NOT their customer service. My one and only incentive was their points reward system. But apparently they dont manage this very well. I never really tried to spend my points and every time I bought something they asked if I was a member and once I gave them my name they would ALWAYS confirm "ah there you are" looking into the computer....so everything was fine until one day i decided to excitedly ask how many points i had racked up! The answer was "sorry you actually havent been a member for a couple of years. Theres nothing we can do." And apparently they went on to confirm this happens to other customers.......so you guys know about this! Great! Thanks Performance Bicycle! You lost a customer for life! By the way: you can be certain that when you see a bunch of mixed reviews (1 star and 5 stars combo) the legitimacy of the good reviews is very questionable.

Man!! This guys really suck when cones to costumer service. This is what happened to me I came in on a Thursday and u talked to this guy tim I explained my issued with my bike .... To make the story short he promised to have it ready by next day or Saturday .so Friday went no call about my bike if ready or no Well I waited for Saturday nothing happened . Finally Sunday came and decided not to wait any more . So I go ahead and called the place first and when I ask about my bike the guy name Phil put in hold for 5.30 minutes and when and when I asked him for my bike he had no idea of it so he said to give him my phone number and hell call me back one hour later he freaking didnt call me so I went to the place and asked for my bike and turned up to be that they forgot about it man so much BS ... To make story short I ant coming back to this place EVER!! Bad costumer service .... Hate it

I am really suprised that this store has received such high ratings by the other reviewers. I believe their selection of bikes, clothing, and other cycling essentials are great, but the people who work there are way below average on their customer service. While a few of the employees there are great people and really try to help the customers, most of them wont even acknowledge you and are quickly annoyed if you ask a simple question unless you are one of their "regulars". Performance claims to have a 100% satisfaction gaurantee but when I returned one item that would not fit my bike I was raked over the coals by a manager there that acted like the return was going to come straight out of his paycheck. I have tried to give them my business on multiple occasions but since they are so resistant to it I will go to any of the other shops in the local area instead.

Im not sure why these have been some poor reviews here. I have always had great service from this shop. I am a recreation/commuter cyclist; bought my first road bike here last year and they were very helpful. I dont think the sales people work on commission and I think this is why the service feels right. I spent a good 45 minutes testing road bikes and the sales person didnt get annoyed with me =]. Also, I had some saddle bags that had ripped which they replaced without any questions, receipt, or hassle. Any bike purchased from the store comes with lifetime adjustments (Which is basically a safety check) and this has kept my bike running well. From my experience, theyre good people.

Great customer service by Rob, Randy, and the rest of the staff. We are novice bike riders, and I appreciate that they took the time to listen to what we wanted and made suggestions for different styles. We had been to other bike shops that seemed to have an elitist mentality. If we werent willing to spend a couple grand, we werent worth their time. Not with this group. We will definitely be back!

Gosh! More negative input than positive. Im looking for a bike to purchase today and when I called seemed one of their employees ( hope not the owner) was " ya, aha.. Bye". Like he didnt care. Now Im reading the reviews and pretty much sounds to me they suck!! Dont they realize they are loosing business by others reading postings. Im not going there.
