A letter for Rose

The girls who worked at the Filipino fast food have an outstanding customer service. I usually buy there whenever I feel lazy in cooking. Hehe. The down point for this market is that theres one homeless guy (like 30 years old or late 30s- not too old to cant do something to work or earn money for a living) who ask for money outside. At first, I felt sad for him cause he was asking for money to buy a drink, so I went inside and bought 1 liter of water for him. I dont want to give him money because he might use it to buy drugs so I handed him the water bottle. You know what happened after that? well, he wasnt grateful, didnt say thank you and suprisingly asked me in a rude way, "just water, no food?!" He looked at me like hes my boss or something and he walked away. I replied, "I didnt expect you to say thank you since its my intention to give but at least be grateful that you had something and are getting it for free. Everybody works here for a living". Now, I realized that everything happens for a reason. I already had the answer why hes like that. Hes lazy and ungrateful. Ive seen homeless people that do something to make a living, like playing instruments or helps in cleaning to get few coins. I think theyre more deserving to receive money than a person who just stands there, do nothing and thinks the world owe him. Reality sucks but it is what it is, thrive. LOL. Also, my message to Island Pacific Market located in Long Beach, CA, that homeless guy who begs outside makes us feel super awkward if we avoid him. Few of your employees know that he complains a lot and lastly, he doesnt throw his trash outside. He just leaves them there.

The staff was confused about my race but once I spoke Tagalog the look was like an American Express comercial "Priceless". The staff was super helpful in helping us find what we came for not to mention we did arrive with only 30mins before closing. But either way I would recommend this location friendly and helpful staff with the right amount of curiosity and the perfect amount of culture. Pinoy power!!!!!

Needed to get my Filipino vinegar to cook Adobo and they had it on sale for cheaper than anywhere Ive ever been. Prices are great but the produce needs better quality control. Was looking through the onions and most were not acceptable quality. Hoping that was just an anomaly and I have better luck next time. Otherwise I like this store for my Pinoy needs.

This place rocks! Its a great Filipino market with tons of variety. Meat department is impressive, especially with some of the whole unprocessed fish they have. They also have a good little fast food Filipino place inside with tables to eat it right there. The staff is friendly and the prices are competitive.
