Until last year I had never heard of Lazy Acres. I’d watched them promote and build this over the last year, but never bothered to look them up. Turns out they are owned the parent company for Bristol Farms (sister companies). And though this is the first of 2 in SD (Mission Hills coming) their other locations are Santa Barbara and Long Beach. Bristol Farms has 10 in LA and 1 in La Jolla so they have a pretty small foot print. A lot has changed in the landscape with Whole Foods pulling out of some locations, Hagan’s filling bankruptcy, etc. Jimbo’s might be a little more people friendly, but this place sits between them and Whole Foods in terms of pricing and experience Plenty of parking, wide open areas inside, much more comfortable dining area for their hot and cold bars. Poke shop, sandwiches, deli, prepped foods. A ton of soups. They carry some more obscure brands, more local, yet have all the products any health nut would want. Things are clearly marked Vegan, Veg, GF, and all those other labels. The produce feel more like a farmers market than a grocery store and the house hold items and vitamins feel more like a separate store than just isles to the side. The juice bar could use more variety, ginger, lemon, apple chaser sort of stuff. They even have a small kitchen class room for cooking events, classes. You can see their online calendar which totally adds another sense of community. If I didn’t live in Oceanside and have my routine of Sprouts/Frazier farms I’d probably do Jimbo’s/Lazy Acre’s as my go to.

If you appreciate Gelsons but want more of a Whole Foods feel, Lazy Acres is the place to be. Its layout is a little weird but once you start wandering around, theres a bevy of things you didnt know you needed but somehow no longer can live without. My husband and I went in one afternoon to kill some time and buy some honey. Wed never been in before so seeing the beehive featured prominently in one corner was pretty neat. They had two different honeys "on tap," that customers can pour fresh along with a rack of raw and filtered honeys that looked amazing and decided on a local wildflower honey. We also picked up some bulk coconut date rolls that were super fresh. Its a little pricey than your regular Vons or Ralphs but I feel like it also doesnt try to advertise otherwise? We didnt completely explore the store but its merchandise was similar to that of Gelsons or Whole Foods but it had a Sprouts vibe. Highly recommend if youre looking for bulk foods (nuts, seeds, date rolls) or need honey beyond whats in the bear.

My wife and I checked this new store out on Friday....the day after it had unofficially opened. It looked like a glammed up Vons inside.I could see that these guys and Gelsons are trying to be pretend Whole Foods Markets which will never happen. The beer selection was average and the prices were high, the cafe selection was very limited so we didnt try anything there to eat in the store....the pizzas looked like cardboard cut-outs.The bakery selection looked mundane....mostly brought in and the ice-cream choice was extremely limited....full of house brands mainly. Nothing we saw made us feel that this store had anything better than anywhere else....certainly not as good as Seaside Market or Whole Foods Market in Del Mar where we shop a fair bit.It has a sugar coated upscale look but when you dig deep its just another everyday supermarket.I doubt if we will shop here again.

For the first few months that they were open, they would have the breakfast bar on by 730. As of recent, I have been going as late as 8 and there is still no breakfast or salad bar. I went in a week ago and wanted to get some spinach from the salad bar and there were no tongs. The young man that was setting up the salad bar was high as hell and slower than molasses. I waited for 15 minutes while he was supposedly getting tongs and he never returned. Lazy Acres lost a customer.

I just recently used Lazy Acres for catering a school function held at the Encinitas library and they were fantastic! Johanna and her team presented beautiful and delicious appetizers and deserts and they DELIVERED!!! Their prices were very reasonable, did I mention they DELIVERED, and food was presented beautifully and delicious. thank you so much for making this easy for me Lazy Acres! Kerry Carlsbad, CA

Very nice place! Love all the organic and gluten free options. But only thing I dont like that much of Lazy Acres is one of the priciest places . Well maybe just as pricey as Sprouts and other high-end organic stores. I just wish that the prices would come down a little. The only thing that seems reasonable is your salad bar and cooked food bar. But otherwise all the food is wonderful and high-end.

The selection of quality foods is amazing! On the flip-side, the staff/clerks need to be schooled on how to interact with customers. Not very friendly. One young man at the juice bar. Start with schooling him... I would have given 5 star review, but the staff that we interacted with were not friendly. Thus the 3 star.

Absolutely my FAVORITE place to shop, and I might be the pickiest person on Earth. Fantastic team of employees... And I dont say that lightly. They really are great. The food is next level good. Its pricy, but you can clearly see the quality and value. I actually go out of my way to shop here. Bravo.

One of the best health food conscious stores I have ever been. Huge selection of so many different amazing products all with green and vegetarian and other allergen considerations. The snack bar, salad bar, soup bar and other already prepared food give you an amazing selection for a quick dinner.

Another overpriced "natural food" store. The parking lot is too small for this center, a parking issue similar.to the closed Whole Foods, but better location, so we shall see how it fares. A good fresh food selection, soup and Mexi bars, fresh deli and poke selections.

They were out of all of their soda and had no lids for drinks. The register kept messing up and wouldnt accept my card until the 4th time trying. Just a bit of a hassle. Besides that, they have a massive choice of natural foods and healthy options on snacks.

Lots of vegan selections, including store-made chili and donuts:) Theres also just a lot more vegan options than regular grocery stores, including places like Sprouts and Whole Foods. Also plenty of local and organic produce along with a very friendly staff.

This place is awesome. Wide variety of health food and produce. I think this place is better than whole foods. The meat I picked up was very good, and they also had some produce I couldnt find anywhere else. Ill be back.

Would appreciate more healthy fish dishes in place of so many chicken dishes...cod is not expensive, creatively prepared, could be very good! Less fried foods, leaning into healthy preparations. Thank you.
