I called this place because I saw an ad for a 2009 Prius online that I was interested in seeing. I talked to a man named Harlan on the phone and when I told him that I could not get out there until about 7pm (I live in Sacramento) he told me that he could stay there until 8 as though he was staying late as a personal favor to me (I later found out the place closes at 8 anyway). When I finally managed to drive out there Harlan came out to meet me and immediately started talking down to me like I was some kind of idiot and telling me that I had told him 7 and it was nearly 7:30. And when it became apparent that I was not going to buy a car from him that very day he wouldnt even let me take the car on a test drive and basically told me to get lost. Despite my terrible treatment at the hands of Harlan, I really liked the car I had seen and decided to try coming back a couple days later to see if I could still get the car from a different salesman, and this time I brought along a friend with me who had worked for years as a car salesman at a dealership in Folsom. I again drove all the way out to Auburn from Sacramento and was finally allowed to test drive the car I had wanted, and then I was introduced to another dealer by the name of Allen. When we went into his office he talked about how many years of experience he had in selling cars and when I asked him where else he had sold cars he told me "You dont need to know that". He also told us that he had already sold three other cars that day. Something my salesman friend thought was highly unlikely. I felt bullied by him as he insisted that there was now way he could go down more than a few hundred dollars from the 17.5K asking price. He told me that they had paid 16.8K for the car and thus could not possibly go down any further. I later found out that that was almost certainly a bold faced lie as the trade in price that my friend looked up later for that same car was only 14.5K. Also, despite all of Allens insistence that they dont "wheel and deal" there and that that was the best price he could give me, minutes after I walked out the door they called me back saying they were willing to go down on the price. As a final insult, when I went online the very next day looking for another car I saw that the car that I had felt bullied and pressured into buying at the sticker price because they had paid so much for it had gone down in price several hundred dollars to 16.9K, a price I was told they could not possibly meet. NEVER BUY A CAR FROM MAGNUSSENS TOYOTA. It is full of lying assholes who care nothing about their customers and just want to squeeze every last dime they can get out of you.

We called several dealerships to find the best deal on a 2014 Toyota Sienna. Kristen quickly gave us a quote over the phone and by email. No messing around with questions like, "well, what are you looking to spend?" like the other dealerships. Both Roseville and Folsom quoted us several hundred dollars lower than Kristens quote but since my parents had such a great experience at Auburn a couple weeks earlier buying a Prius from Louis, we decided to drive to Auburn first. We made the right choice - by the time we got to Auburn both the Roseville and Folsom dealerships had called back to say that they couldnt email us the quote they gave us over the phone after all! :-( Kristen had the van in the color we wanted waiting just outside the dealership for us to test drive when we got there. She was a super friendly, normal lady. When we were done with the test drive, she had the paperwork ready and the price was exactly the same as what she had quoted us earlier - no sneaky add-ons or fees. When telling us our add-on options she never made an obnoxious hard sell - she even said stuff like "most people dont get this, but its a nice option…" which made deciding what to get and what not to get very easy. We brought our young daughter with us and it was still a painless process. All the other people who worked there were super friendly and genuine too. Lots of charming Grandpa-y guys. (Unlike the Toyota dealership in Davis, where the men were all macho classic used car-salemen types, clearly feigning interest in our daughter which was much worse than just not being interested.) Because Kristen is somewhat new, she asked a guy named David to show us how the seats move in the car. He was very helpful and not at all rushed even though he probably wasnt going to be benefitting from our purchase. Gary, the finance guy, was also super nice and worked quickly. The thing is, most car salespeople are obviously cheesy/fake friendly until it gets down to making the purchase and then things get ugly. Auburn Toyota was pleasant from start to finish and the whole process was quick and easy. Highly recommended and totally worth the drive from Davis!

John Handy may be young and somewhat new, but his manners and enthusiasm to be helpful and professional were quite good. Rocky Robinson handled one meeting with us and was very much the experienced and knowledgeable pro, making the two working together present what we needed when we needed it, in person and over the phone and email. The Costco referral program resulted in _quite_ a good price with no negotiation, and a nice bonus coupon to make buying some accessories in the parts department much more reasonable. Overall, no hesitation in recommending Auburn Toyota for a new car purchase. I do recommend scheduling your new car delivery at least 4 hours before closing time, since youll likely need more time than you might think to go over all the new features and controls, and how to link phones, and set/change/use those features. That will beat dealing with several thick printed manuals to figure things out yourself, later on, like I set myself up for with a late delivery. The Parts department has been very good to work with, and the service too with after sale accessories and parts. Be very careful not to lose one of those new electronic keys that allow push button start and keyless entry, they can cost north of $300 to replace (but if you do, see them on Wed when parts purchased, like my lost key, can get a 20% discount). Mike Norton, service advisor, was helpful and very courteous for my first service on our 2015 Highlander. The only negative aspect was that even though I showed up a few minutes early and Mike processed me promptly, the actual service took over an hour and a half rather than the hour it had been described as requiring. Since there were no problems to check or fix, only the first break in service (paid for by the manufacturer) being done, the longer time is hard to explain. There was no Were running a little slow at check in nor an hour into the wait, nor explanation/apology offered when signing the form acknowledging receipt of my keys and completion of the work. Ill go back for subsequent services, even though another dealer is a bit closer in Roseville, and hope for better communication if there are delays.
