I love this place. Using their Safeway app with Just for U discounts, I save a ton of money on products I use. There are times when the savings and discounts at checkout are over 50%, if I play it right. The store is clean and large and well stocked with good variety. Good bakery, deli, butcher. Large produce selection. Has a Starbucks inside. Friendly, helpful customer service and staff overall. And best of all: their prices are better than anyone elses. I live closer to two other supermarkets: Food City and Los Altos Ranch Market, but I much prefer Safeway, not only because the store feels so much nicer and cleaner--more "high end"--but because their prices are unquestionably lower on almost everything, and their selection is so much better. Bonus: there are a ridiculous number of very good looking people shopping here every time I go in there, so youve got the eye candy factor, too. Its a no-brainer, all around--why wouldnt I shop at Safeway? I would give them 5 stars except I had my bicycle stolen right out of their bike rack -- lock cut -- while their security guard watched it happen, but didnt do anything about it. He described to me seeing the guy removing my bike from the rack and carrying it away on another bicycle, as if it was an interesting curiosity, rather than something HE was responsible to stop or prevent! So I cant give 5 stars, even if they are otherwise well-deserved. Side note. The US Bank branch in-store is terrible, the manager was very rude and unreasonable, but thats shouldnt count against Safeways rating.

This store is a perfect example of what you get from a grocery store located in the middle of a dilapidated city. The parking lot has riddled with homeless and vagrant panhandlers. When you walk through the doors its dark and dingy. I only visit this location because its directly across the street from my office. As you can see in the pictures, my office has bars on the window so that should tell you a little bit about the neighborhood. Usually i shop the organic fruits and vegetables for my lunch and Im pleased to report they have a decent variety. BUT theyre higher price than other locations. Occasionally I grab some fresh flowers for my S.O. because they always have a great selection! I know.... (puke, right!) The staff is GREAT and they always have a smile.... this could be the fine line before they cry. Today I decided to post a review because as I pulled up there was a group of men surrounding what appeared 2 men struggling over a backpack. "Here we go." I thought to myself as I parked. I immediately realized from the crowd of spectators at the entrance that one if the men had allegedly stolen something.... not my business. The police came and they can deal... this just shows you what to expect if you shop here! You have been warned.

Worst experience with a store manager ever! Refused to honor the Starbucks policy of a free refill for gold members, which Starbucks and Safeway Corporate says they have to honor. Store manager was extremely rude and argumentative. A new employee, I might have understood that they needed an attitude adjustment lecture, but not the actual store manager. Called corporate and filed a complaint. Friend called Starbucks at the same time the manager was arguing with us, he (Starbucks corporate employee) was appalled, overheard the whole conversation. Starbucks went over and beyond what they had to do and provided us a complimentary gift e-card. Safeway did squat! The DM never called me back - go figure! Now we know how the manager learned his rude and non-customer service attitude. Hey, the customer is always right, no matter how wrong they might be. In this case, both Corporate and Starbucks said the manager was wrong, but this seasoned manager should have followed that procedure. Never will go back to this Safeway again!

After being a Safeway customer for more than 35 years in Washington state, I placed my first delivery order with Safeway in Phoenix approximately 1 month after I moved. I paid by debit card and my bank account was charged the full amount of my order. The order was to be delivered between 4pm and 6pm on the following day and I waited patiently but the order never arrived. I phoned and was told I needed to speak to a specific person and they would only be in the office on the following morning. I called back on the following morning only to be told that my order would only be delivered if I faxed them a copy of my drivers license and my debit card to prove that it was me. To make a long story short I refused to do that as I felt I could show this to the delivery person. I am not interested in faxing my drivers license and debit card to anyone. It took 4 business days for the amount charged to be credited back to my bank account. After using Safeway for 3/4 of my life I will never shop with them again for any reason.

Clean store, friendly staff. I bought a cake there that had a Huge Long Thick black hair baked in it (that I discovered when I first started to eat it). It was nearly as thick as a mop string... Ok so a slight exaggeration Anyways they promptly gave me my $ back and I was told that the baked goods are made elsewhere. Sort of expected something more than a limp excuse - something like a coupon or discount.. not even a, "Sorry pal". Just a scrunched up look when they saw the baked in hair followed by, "Well refund your money". 3 stars because All of the folks who work there are very nice! Negative impact on me not due to the initial finding of the hair, just the apparent fact Safeway doesnt have a policy that makes up for the inconvenience of having to go back and deal with the problem. Since theyre The Highest Priced Grocery Store in Phoenix you think they might..?

A while back I commented after roaming the store awhile frustrated, how confusing the layout was, but even worst the "managers" response, on his phone. Since then, the customer service had gotten better, the other day seeing two sales associates trying to help an older woman find something, but then tonight was a reminder of the old customer service. Two familiar faces, one trying to help me, the other didnt even look at me. I was looking for my bag of groceries I had just bought and misplaced as I told the first sales associate with so much on my mind with the recent loss of my boyfriend. She tried to help me, looking to the other for help, but she didnt even look at me. The women that wouldnt look at either the other girl or myself was someone I had seen many times before, saddened how she smiled at me before, but then to react that way..,

I have always enjoyed Safeway for their clean stores, quality product and friendly service, but this store in particular fell short of what I have come to expect. I shopped on a Saturday at 5pm, the bananas were nearly empty with about 5 bunches left; the store was a bit on the messy side with products mixed together in home locations, one cashier was open with 4 people in line and unfortunately there are no self-service lanes. The cashier was about the most unfriendly Safeway employee I have ever run across, it felt like she was doing me a favor by making eye contact or saying the typical store greetings...she definitely didnt want to be there and her vibe was contagious as I will be looking for other shopping options.
