Have purchased 5 bikes over the years from them. (Disclaimer: The son is GREAT!! Helpful, easy-going, knowledgeable, just all around great guy... ) However, recently took in one of our bikes that had been neglected for a complete overhaul and makeover. Had called ahead and the father had answered... I told him what I was wanting to do... Including that I wanted to paint it once it was broken down. He said bring it and they would look it over and get an estimate. I did. Unfortunately, the son wasnt there... It was just the father (who I had spoken with in phone). His tune changed... He said it was going to be extensive overhaul AND he said he would "refuse to work on it" if I was planning on painting it because he would not be responsible for paint scratches while tuning it up. I told him I just wanted to change the look of it, I wasnt trying to make it like new and that wasnt a concern. He got very short and rude. I pointed out that this bike was originally purchased at HIS store (even pointed to his store label at bottom of frame shaft), and I liked the geometry of the frame and really wanted to revive it. I even tried to open-the-door to him selling me a new model and said, "if we could take some measurements on this one, maybe we could see if you have a new one of similar size and fit...What do you think?" He dismissivly replied "I think Ill get you an estimate in 2 or 3 days." He clearly had no interest in selling a new bike, did not even acknowledge we had purchased bikes from him in past, and frankly treated me more like a nuisance than a paying customer. It really saddens me that this happened... Had enjoyed this Shop since the 90s back when it was on The Strip.

If you are someone that likes to work on bikes yourself, knows how to do a few things like change your own flats or put on a new break or want to tweak thing on your own but may not know exactly how or have the exact tools, this is the right place to go! Pat the owner and his sons are truly great! They are super knowledgeable, know about what parts you need and dont need, they have all the info you need about old parts vs newer parts if you have an older bike you are working on and they definitely WILL NOT try and sell you anything you do not need. Other bike shops that I have gone to, not just in Tuscaloosa but everywhere, act like working on your bike is a big secret and they essentially refuse to help you with parts, tools etc and especially information. Most of the time when Ive asked questions I get some variation on "Well, if you want us to do it itll be $X. I brought an older lack luster Western Flyer, Technica 10 speed department store road bike in to get rideable for my girlfriends visit. Pat not only helped me to figure out what I needed to do and sold me the parts, but literally lent me all the tools I needed and helped me adjust around 4 things on the bike free of charge just because I bought the parts and was interested. The people here love what they do and they love people who are interested and love bikes. Go to this bike shop, it is affordable and you will get the best service possible.

Purchasing a bike for my wife was a super experience at the Bike Shop. Jim asked the right questions to know how best to fit her to the right bike that was easy for her to ride and shift the gears. She thoroughly enjoys riding her new bike, even by herself. I can not say more about the friendly, competent service we received from the Bike Shop. I highly recommend them to everyone. Wished we had more places like this Shop to go to.

The other bike shop in town laughed when I told them a $1500 bike was a huge investment for me, and when I purchased the bike, they installed the brake pads to engage the tire instead of the rim. Later they tried to get me to shell out $$$ when The Bike Shop said theyd do it for a fraction of the price. Dont waste your time and money; go to The Bike Shop. Nothing but good experiences there.

The Bike Shop is the one you want to go to! It reminds me of the bike shop in Germany when I was a child: family-owned, friendly and really knowledgeable. Ive had 2 issues (loose wire for the light and loose handlebars) with my bike that I needed help with and they were fixed right away within a matter of 2 minutes and without charge, because they were so minor. Great shop!

I stopped in on a Saturday morning needing some tires, tubes, and chain for an old Ross bike from the 1980s. The service was fast & professional. They had all the answers to the background of my bike and how its unconventional design allowed the front chain rings to freewheel (as opposed to the rear gears)! I was pleased to give them business and will definitely return!

I recently took my bike here to have a broken crank replaced. They didnt have the exact bolts to fix it that day but called and placed an order while I was in the shop. They had the bolts the next day and my bike was good to go by the time I came in. Friendly people and they didnt talk down to me like they do at the other bike shop in town. Cheaper too.

Fantastic Shop - great guys who care about cyclists. I have been a customer for over 7 years....and now I wont go anywhere else. They never try to up-sell you on anything - and their prices are great (often lower than online prices). Their maintenance and repair prices are very low too. If you are looking for a snobby bike shop, look elsewhere!

Ive had nothing but good experiences with the folks who run this shop -- honest work done at fair prices. Got my handlebars re-taped when I took my bike in for a tune-up without specifically asking for the work to be done and was not charged extra for it. Would highly recommend for any and all of your biking needs in Tuscaloosa.

Good place -- and youll get a fair deal. They do sales and repairs. They are knowledgable about the merchandise and will quote you before they do a repair. Usually quite cheap for a standard tune up, otherwise the price is mostly in the parts. You wont regret taking your bike business to them.

Pat and his family do a great job. Theyre really friendly and know their stuff. Their onsite selection is pretty good, and theyre happy to order anything you need. Labor is reasonably priced and turnaround time is usually short.

I stopped by the Bike Shop today just to see what they could do for me. Jim told me the ins and outs of bike shopping and what to look for. A small place but very helpful and very friendly.

A family shop (a father and his twin sons), where we bought our bikes. They were really friendly and helpful, and did not force us to buy. They have really fun bikes at great prices.

If youre looking for a bike shop in T-town, this place is it. The store is ran by a father and his two sons. Theyre really friendly and they give great service. Really good people.
