I happen to like this Safeway. The staff is nice & they actually stock the store very well. I am always on the hunt for bags of Peanut Butter Ritz Bitz & this is one of the only stores that keeps them in stock. The bakery dept is wonderful. They always go above & beyond to accommodate my requests. I really like the bakery manager. Additionally, the head pharmacist is consistently very nice & Accommodating. One criticism: get new large carts- or at least get rid of all the old squeaky rusted out carts. I have an infant & toddler & its so frustrating that after I get them all strapped into a cart that seems okay enough at first sight- then come to find out that a wheel is broken, or a piece of metal is hanging on the floor- of course I only notice this once I start pushing the cart with my kids I. Tow. Then I have to unbuckle them, select another cart & rest rap them back in. By this point I have wasted 15 mins. The old carts really are a safety hazard. Safeway, please get on top of this & replace the old, unsafe carts.

This store is a case study on how not to compete with a Giant that sits directly across the street. The produce department is appalling. The leafy produce is nearly always wilted. The fresh herbs tend to be anything but. They have a fancy watering mister that makes thundering sounds but to rain on decaying produce only adds insult to injury. The dumpsters behind any Whole Foods is stocked with fresher produce and better selection. In fact the WFs discarded produce probably reaches the landfill fresher after a long trip in the back of a refuse truck in the middle of summer. There is one positive note. They always have Diet Coke on sale.

Time to be honest: The good! Most of the time the place is clean and offers good discounts and a great gas program. The bad: 1) bathrooms are always hideous to the point that I would use a portapot first! 2) Management would rather you use the self checkout before spending money on a real checker no matter how long the lines. Now why wont I use the self checkout? Because it is the worst system ever. 100% of the time it will require an employee to fix it only to need them again. 3) you will never see anyone behind the service counter so that is why I can never by lottery from there. discounts and a great gas orogram.

Well, its grocery store. Ok selections. Fruits and vegetable quality is lacking (sometimes). Store brands arent to bad. Polite employees. Sometimes hard to get help at customer service desk and self-check out.

I had to kill time before getting my taxes done. I went in to the Safeway Starbucks. HORRIBLE Experience. Cashier was not friendly. Danish was hard and stale. Drink was not to Starbuck standards. Never again

Kinda pricey, but wide selection. Lots of prepared food in deli though: salad bar, antipasto, soups, sandwich, boxed salads. Theres also a florist and a small Starbucks.

My visit to Safeway in Dunkirk is getting more disappointing. They are always not stock. Also the help could care less about waiting on you, especially the deli Dept.

I like this Safeway better then the Prince Frederick one because they still have the do it yourself checkout, which is very convenient when you only have a few things.

Gas points for grocery purchases. Saved a dollar off a gallon this week! Prices are often comparable to Wal-Mart across the street.
