Youre paying the price of convenience with Piedmont grocery as its been a fixture of the community for ages. Im torn about this place because part of me appreciates the impact they have on the community of Piedmont Ave and the charm of this store. But the practical side of me says, the small selection and exorbitant prices (on par or higher than whole foods) are simply not sustainable. I still find myself making the convenience justification with Piedmont Grocery and visiting there occasionally for the hot bar or a handful of items but if I need a weeks worth of groceries or some unique ingredients, I have no choice but to look elsewhere.

The salad and hot foods bar is a great option to grab a quick lunch or dinner. There are even tables to sit at outside. For groceries and produce they have a little bit of almost everything. Fruits and veggies are great, but the nuts and snacks are often a bit stale-- I dont buy those there anymore. The staff are committed to the store; great people who are friendly, helpful and work well together. Very glad to have a full-service grocery within walking distance of all the shops.

The prices are on the high side, and the clientele can be a little pushy (in that delightfully entitled Bay Area kind of way) but this is a real deal grocery store. The kind that doesnt skimp on the samples. The hot food section is also strong (but watch yourself: those deep fried zucchini sticks and jalapeño poppers add up quickly). The icing on the cake, though? Its the only place around (that Im aware of) that sells Moxie. Game, set, and match, Piedmont Grocery.

Prices are at 20% higher than your usual chain grocery store. This is the only store of this kind on Piedmont Ave. Great for those who may not drive or have mobility issues preventing them to go further out. The workers are nice and helpful in every way they can. The store has a little of everything to cover the basics. Never a problem when I come just parking. Their lot is small, but should be plenty for those driving average size rides.

INCREDIBLY overpriced. If I lived in the area I would not shop there. But as VISITOR to a nearby Airbnb the convenience and deliciousness of the prepared foods was great. Compared to restaurant prices the prepared foods are a bargain. Plus they have that tasty little parking lot bbq pit out back on weekends.

I was just in and when the cashier told.me to press yes for the amount of the sale I accidentally hit the "no" button. Apparently this ruined her day as she had this look on her face like I was an idiot. Everytime I go here the customer service is of that of a snotty barista. Wont be returning.

Phil in catering delivered the most delicious and beautiful spread for our fathers memorial service! Simply amazing. And the best part? The price was so much less expensive than what wed been quoted by other delis and caterers in the area. Highly recommended, 5-star rating from us!

Great store that continues to thrive largely do to its selection, helpful staff and location. Its a little pricey, but I think Wende gotten used to the prices and large, institutional grocery stores that drive wages and farmers out of business.

If your into paleo/ketogenic food, this place has it in droves. Veggie wraps, primal kitchen mayo, lard/tallow/duck fat and a butcher in the back. Totally worth the trip if you cant drink milk too as they have cheese and milk alternatives

Love this place! They have a great selection of products. Sure its not the biggest place but they always have items I need. The staff is really friendly and always willing to help. You get free parking in the building as well.

Its expensive compared to supermarkets. But its convenient for me because of their big parking lot (in the back). They have a decent hot case, although they do let some items get stale and dont frequently replace some items.

A very "with it" grocery store that vaguely reminds me of a Trader Joes only bigger, more crowded, and many more choices. A wide selection of wines, cheeses, and other delicacies. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Love this local grocery store. Great pre-made salads. Excellent produce, meat market and cheese counter. Have been buying our Thanksgiving turkey here for 15+ years. They carry Diesel organic which our excellent.

The inside of the store is not large. They are unable to carry a variety of products. Products they have are significantly more expensive than other stores. They have a nice hot foods sections for lunch and dinner.

Been patronizing here since the mid-80s with my mom. Great selection of local, artisan, imported, vegan, all of the above food. Extremely friendly and knowledgable staff and they have ACME and Semifreddis bread!

The prepared food bar and cheese section have so many delicious offerings that you just cant make a bad choice. And the butcher counter is manned by friendly, knowledgeable staff. I love this place!

Great grocery store that is small but with a complete collection. The butcher is the best. Cheese selection is also stellar. Only downside is it pricey.
