This is the best place to buy video games in Madison. They give fair prices for used games, based on what the market in their shop will support. The staff are funny and friendly, and they dont bother with the fake happy-happy nonsense you get in big corporate chains. Best of all, several times I have bought a bad game, brought it back to sell it again the next day -- and they refunded my money! (Less a small service charge.) I was surprised and suggested it was bad business, but they made it clear that they valued me as a customer. Reminded me of that line in Glengarry Glenross about how you dont sell someone one car once, but rather five cars over a lifetime. The selection isnt as good as other places, but I dont care. The inventory is always fluid, and they have hard-to-find games like Ico and KOTOR, along with lots of other cool items youll likely not find in the chains. I cant recommend PrePlayed enough. Shop local!

Its decent, thats about it. I like their west side store better just for the fact that its 3 times its size. Ive been going here since I moved up to Madison and the movies portion have been great. Never and issue with anything Ive bought, staff is always great and helpful. Prices on their games however, is suuuuper mixed. They reeally think their stuff thats a bit harder to find is actually worth their price gouging prices. Mario Strikers on gamecube. They want 40 bucks for the game, 60 for Zelda collectors edition, 40 for mario sunshine, almost 40 for lugis mansion. Call any other local shop and theyll charge HALF OF THAT. Hell not even Gamestop which is the universal game hell only wants around 10 for mario strikers. Whats that tell you? If youre looking for hard to find games, go on ebay or somewhere else and youll still pay less. IF youre looking for more common games, movies etc, then the place is pretty cool.

I think this store is pretty cool to go to. The only downside is that sometimes they can be a bit unfair when it comes to selling your merchandise there. With most of their loose carts, they place them inside of storage cases and its generally OK with me considering most times whenever I buy retro games (considering I am a collector), I generally try to find any sort of damage to them before hand and if theyre dusty, I usually clean them out. If only they had a repair shop team and a better selection of Sega Dreamcast games, then I will give them 5 stars.

Descent selection of movies. Barely okay selection of games. Pricing is okay. However, customer service is horrible. Appears to be staffed by film school dropouts, slackers, and overall bitter types. You are bothering them with your business. I want to support the mom & pop chains, but give me a reason other than "Were local..." So what? I work for my money. I want the biggest bang for my buck. Stop hiring a**holes, and maybe take a look at some of your policies. As someone new to Madison (15 months), you lost me.

Brought in a video game item in to trade for in store credit. Item goes for 250-350 on eBay. While I didnt expect to get that, I wasnt expecting the girl behind the counter to say $20. The item is in excellent condition. I asked her if she correct with her price. She then stated in a snarky tone, "if you dont like the price, you dont have to sell it here" and walked away. I will never go back to a place of business that is rude to customers and doesnt offer a fair deal. I suggest you do the same.

A complete waste of your time. Staff are not in any way helpful and could care less about your business. Everything is way overpriced. You will not find any deals here. Especially avoid this place if your a retro game collector. Most game cartridges are loose with price tag stuck to label. Game cases are almost always in poor condition, usually missing inserts or manual. Youre better off going to e-bay or a garage sale. Theres a very good reason that pre-played doesnt have a website.

I called and asked how much they would buy a product for, then when I got there they quoted me 35 dollars less. When I brought up that I called she wouldnt even discuss the issue with me and then very rudely told me to take the offer or leave. At the very least she could have just explained that somebody made a mistake and apologized for the misunderstanding. I have had much more pleasant experiences with this location in the past but I will definitely not be returning here again.

Preplayeds games are always in very good condition and everything, but the wont give you good money for your games. The one excuse they seem to give out a lot is that they have too many of that certain game, and then they only will give you about a dollar for each of them. And the people who shop there are most of the time just creepy. Wouldnt recommend it.

Best place in town for hard to find movies, games, music, etc. The staff always know exactly where things are supposed to be and are welcoming if I need help. Even when it seems there are more customers in the store than there are employees, they still manage to satiate everyone. I always have good experiences at Preplayed, especially with the cute girl...

Wouldnt sell anything to them you wont get a 1/4 of what its worth, its either "too old" or the common "we have too many in stock." Game prices are terrible. CDs in terrible condition. Movies are hit and miss. Not worth your time, just another second hand rip off. Save your money, buy new, save your time, check ebay and craigslist.

Pretty good place to find retro physical media. Its like a 40 year old movie/game buffs mother decided to clear out their childhood collection, but instead of a garage sale she opened this place. Prices are often inflated though. Definitely check online markets first, or consider high prices a "convenience tax".

This place is sometimes a treasure trove because of how inaccurately they price things. They severely overcharge on a lot, but sometimes, severely undercharge on more obscure titles. It is worth going if you are a hardcore collector and are up to date on prices.

If you like your music overpriced and full of skips, this is your store. I spent close to $100 on CDS here and within a month they were all full of skips they were in the trash. Avoid this place like the plague

Great selection of used Blu-ray movies and retro video games, probably the best Ive seen anywhere. Prices do seem a little higher than similar stores but Ive found very uncommon items here as well.

While the selection is fantastic, some of the games are far from a steal; some of the more popular games are priced way too high Might as well go on eBay or to gamestop to get a better deal

If you guys dont like how much they give you for games then you can take it to Gamestop they should give you a "Better Offer". Otherwise, this place is great.
