What a dump. This would really be the last place in the world I would take something to sell. Theyre GOING to offer you the LEAST amount they think youll be naive enough to take, then try and sell it for triple what they gave you. Theyre basically putting price tags on rubbish that people brought in, which some of it, they probably found in a trash pile somewhere in the city. The asking prices are as obscene and blatantly stupid as you can get. They have non-functional A/V equipment, missing parts, or totally broken on the shelves, with price tags as high as $75, for BROKEN GARBAGE. The "Speaker Room" is an even bigger joke, its a complete mess and most everything in it is ripped apart and ruined, but despite the ruined condition of the stuff, some of it is priced as high as $299.99, for broken junk. Im really not joking about this. The shelves are lined with the same type of electronic garbage you find discarded at Goodwill, which no one wants. I should add that in as well; There is a large Goodwill just a couple buildings down from this store. Ive seen crossed out Goodwill price tags in this place, with their own hilarious price tags affixed somewhere else. I think people buy stuff at the Goodwill cheap, and take it here to see if they can get more for it, then this place, marks it up to some astronomical number and lets it sit on the shelves for months on end. There are some "Okay" deals in here, typically on Televisions, movies, old computers, stuff that there is a massive saturation of, that they know they cant really sell for more anyway. Anything else? At least its a good laugh. Tools, household items, sports items, bikes, lawn and garden stuff, all insanely over priced. Youd be better off looking in to new, the cost is nearly the same. And make sure to look below the other reviews here, I am sure theyll give some automated reply to mine as well, as if they care about their customers. The way this store is, its obvious they do not. This place is a joke. If you want a good laugh, feel free to check it out, otherwise, just do yourself a fantastic favor and stay far away from this store and the company as a whole. A place this shabby, doesnt deserve your business.

Recently I purchased an item, (bose surround system) that was electronic and wasnt really sure when I purchased it that it was going to work as intended. Needless to say, when I got home, you guessed it, it didnt work like I thought that it would. I took the item back the next day, it was taken back, no questions asked. While there the second day, my girlfriend came along, while I was buying a portable Bluetooth speaker for my cell phone, Maddie W. offered her assistance, boy am I glad she did! I tried several models that she got out of the locked display case, and I again was having a hard time getting them to pair with my Galaxy S7. She took the time to go look in back for more inventory that they didnt have room for on the sales floor and found one in my price range that I was looking for. While this was going on, remember back when I said that my girlfriend came along? Well my girlfriend was purchasing 2 dvds from a different associate. This other associate, first (in front of a group of other customers) didnt give her her proper change back. Then argued with her about how much money she gave him, and stated "I can review the security camera and see how much you gave me." She said "go ahead" and he finally gave her the correct change back. Finally after making the purchase, and getting the correct change back she approached me, while I was still trying out different Bluetooth speakers and she realized that one of the movies that was in the movie jacket wasnt in the correct jacket. Maddie again came through and let her exchange it for another title. Long story, but the bottom line is this, if you find yourself shopping at the East Side Pawn America, ask for Maddie, she got things done, and saved me another trip back to exchange something that wouldnt have worked out. Thank you!!! :-)

There was a long line because of each interaction taking quite some time. Mainly the reason i noticed that it took so much time is because they all were professional as far as finding a way to get you as much money as they could and by following their neccessary protocal. I came in pawning an item asking for $200 out of it and an employee "Joel " actually told me he could give me a loan of $250, totally breaking the pawn shop low-balling stereotype. All in all the poor reviews posted here are by people trying to pawn something. They were upset with the place because they are out of touch with reality and had too high of expectations of what they could get for their complete bullshit of an item they were bringing in. If you walk in expecting to get even close to what you paid for your item berand new , you are going to have a bad day. All in all i believe they do a great job at breaking the news to these idiots that they are not getting a bunch of $ for their posessions because no one is going to want to pay anything for their crap. These people should just get a job if they are looking for substantial amounts of money to pay their bills or Buy their crack with, or whatever they need their $ for.As far as complaints about it being too corporate i think that is a good thing. Small Mom and Pop pawn shops actually screw you more and are more scandalous and shady because of the fact that they do whatever they want and are more like mafia loan sharks that know you are there because you need money and will offer you next to nothing because you are better off just leaving with at least something.

Purchased a USB 2.0 Audio Interface with a friend and it periodically malfunctions by making an extremely loud crackling noise. Turns out it was the device because I used the appropriate ASIO drivers (downloaded from the manufacturers website) and tested the interface on two separate computers and DAWs (Cubase, Ableton Live) to no avail. Wasnt a loose cable or incorrect latency setting either because we had nothing plugged into the inputs and I also tested the device by raising the latency buffers. It was just playing back a song (with a minimum amount of tracks) we had recorded on Cubase and it damn near ruined my studio monitors! Basically the Interface was junk and they didnt take the time to thoroughly test the device. On another note, their prices on some products are ridiculously expensive while some are okay. Like the HDMI cables they have are a good buy; But they were trying to sell a rusty boot knife for 30 dollars!!! Do your research, dont assume just because its a pawn shop their merchandise will automatically be cheaper than normal retail prices.

Pawn America is an excellent store to buy DVDs at because you can get many great movies for a few bucks. As for the negative reviews about not getting what you think you should when pawning or selling stuff, how much you get and if theyll even make an offer depends on the person you get at the counter as I have found out through my experience of getting rid of stuff I didnt want or need any more. The only bad part about this place is when you find something thats in a case like a laptop or game system and you have to track down an employee to help you, sometimes it takes awhile to find one but when you do theyre very helpful. Returning or exchanging stuff is easy too, I once bought a ps3 from here and got it home but it didnt work so I took it back the same day to exchange it and the employee got a different one and even tested it in front of me and used a game they had at the counter and then I was on my way. And when I got home and hooked it up I found that the game they tested the system with was still in the system, so I got a free game :D
