Listen, if you dont like this place you need to get over your egocentric cultural standards. When you walk in you might notice it doesnt smell like a traditional American grocery store. You might think it smells bad. But what it smells like is a non-american flavor pallet. Midway has fantastic produce and an amazing price. Theyve got such a diverse selection of food you could make a thousand different meals and still you wouldnt have tried everything. Im a white guy and I do at least 50% of my shopping here. Give it a try.

The store is smelly, which may be off-putting to some, but its a sign of authenticity. It could always be better but its got a great selection packed into its aisles at fair prices. Im a little wary of buying meats here if I can help it but I do get the pork belly (side) because its hard to find elsewhere. I havent tried their prepared foods and pastries. They look a little old every time I look at them. Like I said, this place isnt perfect, but its still my go-to place for Asian ingredients in Madison.

This might be the best Asian grocery store Ive been to. Great produce section, cheap limes, large bunches of scallions and cilantro, daikon, durian, and pretty much anything else you might need. Tons of various soy sauces, fish sauces, nori, dried chiles and mushrooms, szechuan peppercorns, lotus leaves, instant dashi, rice noodles, etc. Woks, cleavers, rice cookers... Its pretty incredible. They have a small aisle of Mexican grocery items as well!

Great place to buy fresh green vegetables near downtown. Period. Price is right and selection is great. It is one stop solution for varieties of items. I have been shopping here for good 6 years and Ive to say "funky smell" has gone down quite a bit lately. I believe the smell comes from the fish section. My 7 year old son refuses to go inside due to the smell. Other than that issue, Im a SATISFIED customer.

Mr Chou is awesome. Seriously, get to know him and hell go way out of his way to make sure you get what youre looking for. Understand that this is an authentic Asian market so youll be walking into a totally different culture. Dont expect people pouring over themselves to help you out; you have to seek help. See, different culture! Great stop to grab those hard to find Asian ingredients though!

Nothing fancy, but clean, very competitive prices, and awesome selection of fresh vegetable and fish (which of course smells, there is nothing you can do about it.). you can shop there not only for Asian cuisine - selection of vegetable makes it a great starting place for Spanish or Italian cuisine too.

This Asian Grocery is a Madison Icon. Most of us that were around in the 80s remember good ole , always smiling Peter. Simply put, "If its Asian and you can put it in your mouth, you can most likely find it here!" Great selection of fresh and frozen fish and hard to find produce.

Cheap but very bad for bad food and they just do not want to return money. I have bought one Chinese source which gone bad and they just argue and do not want to return money. I feel so disappointed. I am a Chinese living Madison for 3 years and never see so bad chinese people.

This is one of 2 great larger Asian stores in Madison, the other being Yue Wah. This store has lots of frozen potstickers, appliances (like a soymilk maker!), candy, and frozen fish! I love it and I am going there right now.
