Used to be my go to store in the North Shore. Went in to buy a snow of shovel as mine of years past broke. I bought a Garant Plastic Alpine 21" shovel and went home happy with the service and my decision to buy it. Shoveled for 5 minutes when I got home and it broke. The Shovel head detached from the handle. No worries, things happen and I live just a mile or so away. When back to Ace, back to the service desk and ask to exchange my shovel. When I went to look at the same model to exchange I saw which piece had broke on mine and that the replacement was ready to break as one of the two connections was cracked. Brought this to the attention of the man at the service desk and he was very defensive saying that this doesnt usually happen. I do not care that it doesnt usually happen, because it did to me. He was helping another customer so I waited to be refunded instead of exchanged. When a second associate came to assist, I told her I wanted a refund as opposed to an exchange as the batch they have seems to be defective. He yelled from behind her "he doesnt know what he wants, just give him a refund" He was visibly agitated and taking it out on me. She gave me the refund and away I went never to return to purchase a similar shovel from an Ace, without being verbally abused as a customer trying to show you an issue.

The foreign guy who works here approached my wife and said hello ms._____, she stated, "I must be here a lot if you know my name". He said no, Ive been looking up your information. She told him "thats creepy", and he stated he was just kidding (after she told him he was creeping her out twice). Odd thing is, she has never introduced herself and we dont have an account. He must have looked at her credit card last time she was in several weeks ago to get her name. The store is also woefully over-priced and provides questionable advise. I attempted to order some parts for my Stihl chainsaw on several occasions. I was asked to give my number and told I would get a call the next day from the guy that manages that dept. I stopped in twice and never was able to speak to him. I finally called and got through (4 weeks later) and they ordered the parts. Not really excited with the ok advice, average service, and 3X price of the big box stores, not to mention the self admitted stalking of my wife by one of the long time employees.

I am so fortunate to live within walking distance of Ace Village. I cant think of a time when I needed to buy a replacement part or ask a question that the staff was not able to help me out. Everyone that works there is quite knowledgeable and if they dont know the answer, they find it. I have also used Ace Village Remodeling and they are great! The only problem with them is that they are so good that they are always busy working on projects. No project is too small for them. Please support Ace Village as it is a neighborhood store, a family owned business and they are very friendly and professional. Tell you friends and family too, you wont be disappointed. One thing that they do for me is they sharpen my scissors, that is my sewing scissors and pinking shears. Bet you never thought of that. Just ask, if they can help they will, or they will find an alternative option for you. Mary e. Buttler

Online service is awful. Ordered Items online for in-store pick-up because ace had an online sale only (of course I paid for my items on-line). Received an email stating my order was getting processed and would receive another email when it was ready to be picked up. Next day received an email saying my items were picked up, which I had not. I called to find out what was going on? Kid over the phone was rude telling me my order was ready and it the email I got saying it was picked up is the same thing as my order was ready email. So I then drive to the store only to find out my order wasnt ready and now Im standing around until they fill it. Then have no what clue what to do with the paper work. And while all this is happening I can hear then bitching about my order in the back.

Village Ace is where I go when I need good advice and great service. Lately the owner totally went the extra mile. We were having challenges getting extra keys for our back door, they just would not work. After a few tries making keys at the store, the owner (for no charge) came to our house took the lock apart, went back to the store and an hour later had new working keys and reinstalled everything. They really care about their customers, which is why Village Ace is always my first stop.

95% of the time I love it and they are very helpful. Unlike Home "despot" there are lots of knowledgeable employees to help and they nearly always have what I am looking for, unlike the other place. In rare instances, I get a guy who walks me to the aisle and then walks away without checking to see if I found what I needed, causing me to go looking for someone else. Again, this is rare. They almost always are helpful and stock stuff youd never imagine.

I brought in a couple of old deadbolt locks that have not functioned for years. the locksmith rekeyed and adjusted the locks and they work like new....charged $14. Great service and quality...and a real bargain. I told one of the owners of my plans to do some mission work in Haiti and he said he would try to help out with that. Hoping there are some tools he may donate to the cause.

I love this place! My husband and I went in to try to find stain colors for 5 different wood types in our new construction home. Bryan was amazing! He made a stressful selection an easy one. He matched stains perfectly and went above and beyond to help us every step of the way. I recommend this place to everyone now!!! Great customer service and such a well maintained store!

Their phone is always busy, with no access to voice mail... Im not going to drive down there to see if they have what I need, when I can find out on the phone. But their phone service is hopeless...

Friendly staff, well-organized store, and proper tools! Always choose Village Ace over Home Depot due to the knowledge of the staff and actually most of the items are cheaper!

This is a hardwear store where you can take advice from the employees and actually have confidence in their answers. Excellent store.
