I preferred going to this Ace instead of the Home Depot up until the lawn mower I purchased from Ace broke down. After bringing it in multiple times they finally wrote up a ticket for warranty and said they would take it to franks lawnmower repair shop. When I asked how long it will take they said it would be a couple of days. I came back to the store to buy some light bulbs 4 days later and saw the sales associate who wrote up the ticket for me,I asked him if there was a status update about my mower and he said they will call me when they hear something and walked away. Now it has been over two weeks and when I called them they said "oh I guess we can call the repair shop", I told them to forget about it I will call them myself. After an dealing with the repair shop multiple times they finally told me that they are still waiting on a part for it and it should be ready in 4 days. When I told the repair shop guy that it has been over two weeks he told me that Ace did not bring it in two weeks ago and that they have only had it for about a week. I told them to call me instead of Ace when its repaired because I dont want Ace taking their sweet time going to pick it up and then calling me whenever they feel like it. On the back of my invoice ticket it says " After the SALE its the SERVICE that counts". Well if this is their idea of good service, I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on.

I started shopping here a few years back,l but felt they were a little pricey. Then, I started reading their ads I got in the mail and buying things on sale and when I was in the store I would wander around to see what other stuff they had. Over these few years I have asked some odd questions ( I am really new at maintaining a house), and the staff had patience and helped me. Plus they carry a lot of cute little things that women like to buy (little seasonal knick knacks), so I have grown to love the store. The staff is basically older men who like to help and usually have the right answer. It beats home depot by a mile for personal service.

Ace Hardware recently had a big TV campaign about their big sale on craftsman tools. I dropped by to fill in my craftsman sockets. Ace had a few but they werent on sale, in fact there were only a handful of sale items out of the entir craftsman collection. When I pointed this out to their staff I was told to contact Ace corporate. Of course they were condescending and patronizing and offered no relief. It will be a cold day in hell before I set foot in an Ace, especially the store in Glenview. Both Lowes and Home Depot are close by. Save yoursel grief and go there instead.

Exceptional staff-5 star 100% I live in North Carolina, called looking for certified glasses so kids I sponsor could watch the eclipse, no store in NC or SC had glasses. Spoke with Karen & Lynne, very nice ladies!! Both helped me out by shipping glasses to me before the big event. So grateful to her as well as Lynne for helping me give back to the kids. Ok Heres the deal. If you have a doohickey and dont know what it is, but need another one, bring it here and show it to somebody and theyll get it for you. If you know what you want and need to grab something FAST, go here, theyll get it for you fast. If you just want to walk around and stare at stuff and dont really want to buy anything or you just want air conditioning or to get out of the house something, THEN you go to home depot. They wont even notice youre there.

Very helpful & kind staff. The owners are also generous people, contributing to charitable causes & community organizations. This hardware store is a local treasure. Morover, the store is stocked with just about everything that a big box store has at reasonable prices. No reason to go anywhere else unless you need large building supplies or items that do not constitute "hardware" in the first place. A+ Store.

This is my first stop for every household project. The service at this store is great. They take the time to understand what you are trying to accomplish and provide you with the detail to be successful. They can be pricey on most items compared to a box store, but they do a good job with sale items, weekly circulars and have a good rewards program to remain competitive.
