I had been getting my hair cut by my mom for as long as I could remember and then one time I decided to go get my hair done at a salon and Altered Ego seemed very cool and inviting. Destiny Jackson was the stylist that cut my hair and she is absolutely AMAZING! She is very easy to talk to, and she knows what she is doing. She was able to keep up good casual conversation whilst cutting my hair and it turned out exactly the way I wanted it too. Also, the ambience and decor of the salon and attached art studio are invigorating and inviting at the same time. It may seem a bit eccentric, but the salon is very stylish and the art studio is inviting and you can just feel the creativity. I have gone back many times and have never had less than 100% satisfaction when I leave. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to try a new hairdresser. Just look for the awesome green sequin sign!

I decided to get my hair cut here because it seemed that the salon had a bit of an edgy, artistic feel to it and would have stylists with advanced skills. From initial phone call to walking out the door with my new do, I felt taken care of and that I was an important customer. Rebecca cut my hair and paid extra attention to what I was looking for while giving suggestions for working with my hairs strengths and limitations. She gave me exactly what I had requested with a professional style that had a bit of an edge to it. Id highly recommend this salon and Rebeccas expertise. Looking forward to my next visit!

I went into Altered Ego for the first time for a cut and color because I had a coupon. They treated me very well but in the end I wasnt at all happy with the color. The highlights were uneven and way too light, but I went back and they made it bearable. I dont think my experience there was worth what I paid for it and I would try a different salon before I would back there. Im not telling you not to go there I am just being honest about my experience there.

Destiny has been my stylist for over 15 years. I just LOVE her creativity, her personality, her coloring of hair, how she will try to fit you in on short notice and how friendly everyone at Altered Ego are. I always tell Destiny to do whatever because I trust her that much with my hair. Destiny is an amazing person and I always feel like a million bucks when I leave! I dont usually write reviews but today Im happily writing one for the Altered Ego Salon. On several occasions while visiting my sister Ive made appointments there and have been very satisfied. They offer a variety of perks. (ie make-up tips, hair color/cut advice, and fresh coffee to boot! The entire experience made me feel like I stepped out of my old routine for a more updated "new me". Thank you, and Ill be back for sure.

Went to Altered Ego today with my hair looking shaggy blonde and silver and the beautician there upgraded my hair with a haircut and coloring and I swear I look 10 yrs younger and the head message took me to another world. The staff and owner are extremely friendly and personable and looking forward to going back in the near future for a facial and more hair care as I need it. Thanks Penni for a job well done...

She listened to everything I had to say and gave me exactly what I asked for. Plus she is a truly talented hairdresser. I am thinking of stealing her and bring her back to LA. Altered Ego is the best "one stop shop" for everything beauty and beyond. Destiny is so talented and has treated my hair like It is her own. Its like walking into your friends house and gabbing with your girls! Becky, Penny and Mary are also great -- everything you need right there... and the boutique is beyond amazing. I went to Altered Ego for the First Time today. I had a Cut and Color. I have NEVER allowed anyone to put color on my hair before today. I was feeling quite cautious I guess you could say. Destiny is the Artist that did my hair today. It rocks, I will go back! Now to get used to looking at the "New Me" in the mirror.

Loved it! Penni did my hair perfectly! (I got about 6+ inches cut off, I was very nervous but she made me feel right at home). She gave me a discount because I was short a few dollars in cash. I would recommend this salon to everyone. Definitely the best In eau claire.
