This Store and Its Employees are AMAZING!! Lost my purse in July. I was so frantic. It was right before a military move across country. My drivers license, military ID, Social security card, and credit and debit cards all gone when I needed them the most. I searched all of Yelm for my missing purse, filed a police report, canceled all my credit and debit cards, replaced my social security card and reported possible identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission. I was so worried as to how this may affect my credit if my information were to be used. Yesterday Morning, I received the contents of my purse in the mail with a return address of Yelm Safeway! I cant believe it. The employees and management went well above and beyond to return this to me all the way to North Carolina. I commend you Safeway of Yelm! Your kindness and honesty and earnest efforts to do something you did not have to do at all is what humanity is all about. Thank you so much. I cannot say enough kind words about your action.

Store is great overall. My complaint deals with the deli department. They have had a very high turnover over staff. Their deli sandwiches used to be the best, bar none. Now, I wont order one. Now for my real recent beef, recently I went to buy chicken strips and jo jos. No price sticker and when I ordered I asked about the pricing of these and most all other deli products seemed to be missing. I was not so politely informed that they no longer price by the pound, but by the size of the container. Whoa Nellie Bell !!! 3 chicken strips goes in a bigger container. Used to be put in a sack , weighed and priced. Me thinks I, and maybe we, are being over priced f ok r our deli items. Was told thats just still the way it is now. I, nor my family, will utilize the deli part of the store in the future. Makes me sad that we now buy and pay by container size.

This place is extremely rude. Theres this guy named jamille or something hes an Arab guy or something. He insults and harasses the employees. I know because someone I know worked there and Ive seen it happen. The manager there is also extremely rude and they like to "frame" the employees. The dairy manager apparently LOVES to mess up products in order then accuse them of not rotating. Ive found multiple stuff here a day or two out of date, and it is pretty sad that the new employees need to put up with their BS. The jamille guy is mean as heck. Word of advice. Consider this store as a last resort if you plan on working at a Safeway.

Stole $20! I prepaid cash and when the pump stopped early, the guy said that I only paid $50. I gave him $70. I double counted before I gave him the money. I complained to the supervisor and he said he could call me if there was extra money when counting the next morning. Of course the guy at the pump probably took. Even though one hand is disabled, I was polite to him. However other times I go there he is often rude and frustrated with customers. I go to safeway a lot and know many people with memberships but I cannot trust safeway anymore if they cannot make this right.

Standard issue Safeway with self check out, bakery, florist, movie rental, money gram, pharmacy, meat counter, ATM, deli, and starschmucks. The pharmacy is terrible though, they have an automated phone system that is tedious and slow, and it texts you when your scripts are ready. Turns out though, that they never get the script tickets and weve often had to wait the standard "15 minutes" but we got so tired of doing that we started telling them no, that wed wait right there while they filled them in less than five minutes. We moved our prescriptions to Rite Aid.

As if they didnt have enough room to begin with they have now made the star bucks even bigger. Their displays are always in the way and pointless. Its extremely hard to use a shopping cart due to dumb end caps and displays galore. The lines are always horrible and you end up in the isles in peoples way. Their organic produce selection always sucks. This is by far the worst safeway ever. I always leave disappointed. They stack soda boxes twenty boxes high at the entrance, i pray no one is near during an earthquake. So glad Im done with yelm!

Great store, only thing lacking is meat department, other Safeways do things better in that department Yelm one breaks department of weights and measurements rules and guidelines that are suppose to be enforced by law. Charging for more that you are buying in the rare instance you get ground steak specially done. Although management is very good and offered to take over and do things correctly. Just meat department is doing things wrong and you shouldnt need to ask for a manager to get it done right.

Its beats the Yelm Wal-Mart on employees knowledge about products and available cashiers. Deli is hit-or-miss with prepared items. Cashiers and people sacking items very friendly; wish we could give tips to those that carry/pack groceries out as some of them work hard and deserve a little extra appreciation. Smartphone coupons are difficult to dl, especially when fighting peak hours and the overflow of patrons. Good deals in their advertisements weekly.

Im not sure what happened to this place, it used to rock. In the last six months we gotten bad meat three times, when I got home on one trip we found a bag of potato chips that had been opened previously in the store, and we just recently ordered wonder woman cupcakes only to find that they were not decorated when we picked them up. We dont have that many options in town for groceries but I think were going to try to find someplace else to get our food.

The night shift manager was obnoxious. Im not going shopping to make friends, but to hear his fowl language, watch him harassing young customers and then strut back to the checker obviously proud of him self... Reminded me of the stereotypical little man syndrome middle management who has something to prove. Sad to see a grown man act so poorly in his profession

Nancy D. If customer service isnt your thing why work as a cashier? Scowling faces at the register take the place of a friendly hello, dont look for a thank you for your business or someone to offer you help out. I used to love going in to the Yelm Safeway. They were always friendly and helpful. Managers have really let the store go down hill!

Atmosphere? Clean, well organized, soft lighting with soft color pallet, making for a comfortable relaxed shopping experience. Starbucks located in the store! :) .... a sure plus. As for selections in groceries? Fresh fruit & vegetables with a wide variety of options for vegetarian/ vegan. Friendly employees.

Its the safeway I grew up going to as a kid, (although I remember before it was built too.) and they have good customer service and all your basics. Just be prepared that it is a small town store so youre guaranteed to run into people you know.

Although the prices are usually more than Wal-Mart, they are very friendly and helpful. They have a decent selection of products, a great bakery and a deli. Plus their Safeway Select (or whatever they call it) Ice cream is delicious.
