I have two ferrets, two dogs, and one cat. Our ferrets require a special type of cat food that before finding this store, I had a lot of trouble locating. Now I just pop in every other month, and I find an amazing size bag every single time. They also have massive amounts of cat and dog toys, plus the best selection of treats for our pups (doggie cookies? SO CUTE!). This place is large, and so undeniably adorable. Every employee Ive met there has been nothing, but nice. They always have smiles on their faces, and when I have a question, theyre so helpful. :) A cute little fact, they keep cats within their store as part of their no-kill shelter program. Its not unlikely that a cute little kitty will come-up and say hello to you. The last bag of cat food I bought from here, I received a double "bad kitty" discount, because one of their cats had munched their way through the bag. She taped up the bag, and I paid $4 less. Fine by me. By far my favorite pet store. You might just walk out with a kitty. :) I randomly met a nice couple at this store, and I now have my adorable blue heeler. I can not suggest this place enough! Check them out if youre smitten with your pets!

Ive been going to Next to Nature for about a decade, first in their downtown location and now in Hilltop/Top of Tacoma. They have a parking lot but its easier to park in front if you are carrying large bags of dog or cat food. They have an amazing selection of pet foods including dry, canned, and fresh. Also carry items for smaller caged animals like rats and guinea pigs. Lots of options for natural and holistic medications. I purchase probiotics there for one of my dogs. Their collars, leashes, and other non-food items can be a bit light, or it may just be that their huge space makes it seem that way. Their customer service is wonderful - Deja has been there for years and I adore her. They adopt out cats and have store kitties so cat-friendly dogs are welcome.

LOVE this place. Ive been going for years. They are priced fairly and more importantly, I love that they are locally owned. They obviously love animals and it shows - there are numerous cats running around the store. Even though I dont stop by as often as I would like, because I have a small dog and I buy large bags of food, they always remember me and my dog Momo each time I go in. They are very, very knowledgeable about the products they sell and even though I am often time skeptical and very cautious when it comes to anything I put on or in my dog, I always trust their product knowledge and recommendations. I make a point of always returning to Next to Nature and do my best to encourage my friends and family to shop there too.

Their friendly staff have deep knowledge of natural pet products. They will specially order items on request. They have a large selection of cat food, dog food, vitamins, treats, leashes, bedding, etc. etc. They stay open weeknights until 8 pm so customers can make it there after work. They work with a shelter to adopt out cats, who live in the store, but they dont have pets for sale in the usual sense. Some of our dogs have food allergies and require special diets, so weve been Next To Nature customers for years, and we recommend them highly. L

No matter where I look, I cant find a pet store that beats this one. Their employees seem to be truly happy and they are friendly 100% of the time. Many of them know me the second I walk in the door. They are also incredibly knowledgeable. Ive never had a question they couldnt answer or help me to find the answer. Next to Nature has a great selection of foods, treats, and litters. They do pretty good with toys and leashes, etc, etc. I also cant find another store that beats their prices. What a great place!

I am in love with this place! It is GREAT to have a place to take my sweet Pitbull to enjoy some of the best treats and toys I have ever seen for dogs. And the staff members are so kind, especially to him! That really means a lot since there are places such as the doggy daycare next door that refuse to even allow Pitbulls inside their doors. They have a lot of products for other animals as well. Our new favorite treat is a walk to this store. Thank you guys for being awesome!

I love the quality of service, the extensive knowledge of its staff, their genuine compassion towards my pets and their health, the high quality products, and the passion the employees have for the goods they sell. Hilltop has a great spot for healthy pet supplies. Next to nature always has fair prices on organic dog food and safe toys for them too. YES IT IS IN HILLTOP! I do not appreciate all the nice places in Hilltop being referred to as "downtown" because of the bad reputation Hilltop has. It is places like this that make Hilltop a pretty good place to live in Tacoma.

I am a proud cat person, with a disdain for dogs. This place, while still having canine food, it feels like a love for the kitties. They are supes friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. If you have the superior pet (statistically speaking, and it reality), you should be getting everything they need here.

CH PR GRNLFs Damn Shame Asqueroso likes the store. They treat him like royalty before he was a Champion. The staff is knowledgeable, kind and passionate about pets. Cheaper than the big pet stores. Unique and hard to find products. Next to Nature is able to special order items and they arrive timely. :-)

This place has lots of great products from food, toys, and remedies for your pets. It focusses on dogs and cats primarily. The staff is very friendly, attentive, informative, and absolute animal lovers. I recommend anyone with a furry one in their life to check this place out.

This is a terrific pet supply store. Convenient to downtown with a large & varied inventory, toss in some expert customer service and you have a winning combination! Prices are a little steep, but for a downtown location thats to be expected.

Good selection of healthy pet foods, supplements and other pet supplies. Very helpful and friendly staff. Also work with shelters, especially for cats, to foster and arrange adoptions. Also "free range" cats in store.

Great local pet store. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful, there are cats to adopt here, reasonable prices, good selection of natural foods/toys, etc. This is one of our go-to stops.
