I moved to ellensburg a few years ago and everyone at this Safeway is very friendly and helpful, its a clean well stocked store. My issue is that the hot foods deli is the worse I have ever been to and I LOVE Safeway delifood.. I dont know if its who manages that part or what but something needs to be changed.. lunch and dinner hours should obviously be a time when there should be FRESH and larger amounts of huge sellers NOPE hardly ever the case. It seems like noone even keeps track of what the popular items are so they can make sure to stay stocked.. I have tried to talk to them and ask when the good times are to try and get the products I keep going for and they just shrug.. i ask why lunch and dinner isnt ever fresh stuff or well STOCKED and they shrug.. its obviously an issue of someone needing to manage and figure out that one area because the rest of the store is great.. I just had company come from out of town and they stoped there to grab dinner ( usually I warn people about the hot foods) they ended up having to trash it all because the whole Chinese dinner was terrible old and overcooked.. PLEASE SAFEWAY REVAMP OR FIGURE OUT UR HOT FOODS DELI then the store would be wonderful

This store is kept very clean for the most part. I wont eat meat from their meat department because I can smell the seafood (not the kind of smell that you should smell with seafood, but the kind that you know the meat is rotting), but my biggest complaint is the deli/service counter. Here is what happened this past Saturday: Just got dinner there this past Saturday...it was truly awful! I waited at the counter for more than 10 minutes. There was one gal wandering around, one guy with his back to everyone, one guy walking in and out of the back room with no purpose, and another texting on his phone in the back room. Then, just when I thought there was hope (the only two other customers who were together) the guy walking from the back room to the service area finally stopped and helped them, and I wrongly assumed he would then help me next...it wasnt until the guy with his back to the counter turned around and saw I was standing there that I got Help! Our food was so OLD and over cooked that we couldnt eat it either...and that was right at the beginning of what should have been their dinner rush.

I agree with the other reviewers. Its a good place to shop, but no matter what time of day or night you go there, you always have to wait on line. Much of the time they only have one "20 items or less" lane open and one regular lane. It takes a line of about 10 customers before they even consider opening another check out lane. Ive complained several times because I have a bad back, and standing in line just kills my back. But they still havent done anything. Compared to Fred Meyer or Grocery Outlet or Super 1 Foods, you hardly ever have to wait in line at those places.

Nice clean store, nice deli hot sandwiches. Pricey. Once bought a cream pie with fruit from "bakery" around 4th of July, that was "gross" but took it back and got a refund (like they scooped cream filling from a tub and put it into a pie shell and it tasted like play-doh, bakery sort of "assembles" or "bakes off" doesnt actually make things it appears). Ellensburg store often has long lines and insufficient cashiers especially around dinnertime. They really should fix this because its disrespectful to customers, maybe they dont respect student clientele as much.

I am disappointed with the Deli Department. I was standing at the counter for over 5 minutes before anyone came to help me. Oh and I was the only one there. This was 7:15 this evening 8/12/17, i asked for some chicken tenders was told they were out..I asked for other types of chicken was told "we dont got that". What it boiled down to was the deli workers were more interested in getting stuff cleaned up and to close down than help a customer. Too bad Safeway..I wont be back!

They have some of the best fruit and vegetables in town. The meat department has the freshest meat in town. The open case deli salads dont always look the best. But the prepackaged salad, meat, and cheese are good from the deli. They have very good Chinese take-out. The customer service is really good! Just plan on waiting in line to your timetable. The store is clean. On average they have the best prices for a traditional grocery store. Just be sure to check your reciept.

Good selection but in 3 years Ive always managed to wait in a long line. Long lines, high prices and the Pharmacy is a joke. Never trust them to do it right the first time. I have gotten the wrong meds ( mg. wise) twice and they insist on prying as to why you take a particular med. Freds is cheaper, bigger, shorter lines and self check out. Safeways meat is good though on a side note.

Ive never had a bad experience at this Safeway compared to other Safeways honestly. Its like everyone knows each other there, and if not your neighbor does! Haha I have Progressive MS and sometimes need help with something on a Hugh shelf, and there right fire you before you even know it. I love shopping at thus store, so thank you!

Only thing to complain about is the deceptive marketing on the shelves. Many times in Safeway where the prices displayed in a convenient place that matched another product. Always paying way more then I thought something was when I picked it up. Great marketing Safeway, crappy way to do business!

So we got chased out of the express line by a young man named David. So then we stood behind a woman with 3 items and waited for her longer than it took us. Sheesh, crappy customer service.

Evening check out. Line 12-15 people deep. Asked manager to come check. They acted like they were getting ready to help then disappeared. Poor show Ellensburg Safeway.

The prices seem to be going up here. The Albertsons takeover did noting special for safeway. Really disappointed that they are not for the people anymore.

Pretty much a typical Safeway. They never seem to have enough cashiers during their peak hours, so the lines can be long. Theres a Starbucks inside.
