Not The Same Anymore. Since new ownership, some major, disappointing changes have occurred to our cozy coffee shop. Weve been coming to The Den for about a year now. We enjoyed the funky, eclectic atmosphere, the mix- matched chairs, the art work, and the people. The bakery cabinet was always full of gluten-free options and the drinks were heavenly. It wasnt uncommon to find a dog lounging by its owner and a dog bowl out for thirsty pups. We felt like we were coming into someones living room for a relaxing coffee. Now - not so much. The bakery cabinet is often bare, and they are often out of the things we come to The Den specifically to enjoy. The "remodel" has left the place very cold and uninviting. They pulled up the carpet and went with the cliche polished concrete floors, pulled the art work off the walls, installed a TV and removed all the funky and wonderful chairs replacing them with sterile black faux leather tragedies. The last straw occurred this weekend when the barista announced to us that dogs were not allowed in the cafe anymore. This coming after we had been bringing our pup to the cafe for about a year now. Further, the drinks we enjoyed each week were watery, and when I brought the drinks back to the counter in complaint, the barista argued with me instead of remaking the drink and trying to rectify the situation. Hopefully ownership will get a clue -- soon.

The coffee was good and the atmosphere nice with comfy chairs and lots of space. However ... as I pulled on the corner of my almond croissant, it resisted stubbornly, then finally broke and sent almond shards scattering across the table! And the chewing! Holy cow, Ive never had a croissant with the texture of a hearty French bread! It was served cold from the refrigerated case on a chilly plate, with no offer to warm it (they do have a microwave in a back room) and tasted subtly stale. As we sat and set to work on our pastry cuds, the two baristas instantly left, for some apparently urgent business in a back room. When they emerged several minutes later, they thankfully did start to make our coffee, which, as I said, was tasty. This was at 7:45 on a Sunday morning, so maybe your experience would be better on a weekday .. fresher pastries, more attentaive staff. I also didnt like that, in order to pay with credit card or cell phone, you have to click yes or no to a "pay a tip?" dialogue screen under the gaze of the waiting barista.

This place is amazing!! The staff is so friendly and helpful and they serve Cafe Darte coffee!! I love that theyll give me a green cup for my drip coffee every time I visit; it really personalizes my experience and makes me feel valued as a customer! The owner is a great guy and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure your experience is positive. When my coffee was accidentally ground for French press use, he let me keep it and gave me another bag of properly ground coffee! Its definitely worth the drive from Lynnwood to study at The Den! The only issue is parking - without painted lines, some people take up too much space or park at awkward angles, thus reducing the already limited availability. Some people miss the old set up, which I never tried, but I think these new owners are working hard to make this shop uniquely their own and we just need some patience while they figure it all out!!

1 star is more than they deserve. Ive given this place more chances than anywhere. Ive been here several times because of where I work, its convenient. But convenience is not always worth the dollar. My folgers coffee tastes better than this place. The prices are over priced. The last time I was there, I called in a breakfast sandwich and they told me it would be ready in 15-20 minutes because it was so busy. When I got there 10 minutes later expecting to have to wait for it, it was already prepared and sitting on the counter, not being kept warm. I stood in line for another 15 minutes waiting to pay for it. When I finally got to eat it, it was so cold. The following day, I had GI upset. When I complained, they said that I had to wait until the owner was back from maternity leave to deal with me, their words. I havent been back since!

I work near this place and bypassed it for years, but found it earlier this year and regret not having come here earlier. Their espresso is the type I like (less fruity and full, more of the roasted bite to it which I like) and its completely consistent from visit to visit. Furthermore, these people are coffee artisans, vs. the manufacturers at Tullys/Starbucks, and they do the foam very well on my dry cappuccino. There are always people hanging around, like the Weds morning old-timers with their cool cars that are much older than I am, and the college kids during the afternoons and evenings from UW Cascadia nearby. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and I havent eaten there much, but the soups and sandwiches that Ive had have been very good.

About 10 people inside, including the one barista. Shes usually at the counter, unless shes preparing customers food. Basic coffee menu, but elaborate good menu. Prices could easily be lower while maintaining profit, so I brought my own coffee and breakfast. 8 surfaces that hold 2+ people, so this place can hold alot. The banging of random orders, chatter of folks plus the music makes this place louder than Id like it to be. Ooh, but a cool fireplace in the middle of everything thats not even on. So i hope this was helpful to you. ☺

Midterm week, pouring rain, and I need coffee. So what do I do? Walk a mile, getting soaked, with wind and all Mother Nature letting loose. Why? Because the information the Lions Den provides online says it closes at 9:30pm. Get there at 9:10pm and the barista tells me their closed.... yet the door is still open, and theres people inside finishing their coffee. So. Not. Cool. Really disappointed, frustrated about inaccurate information, soaked, no coffee, and time wasted that I couldve been studying.

New owners. It has changed a bit in ambiance. The organic, bohemian, earthy, community feel is gone. The music was so quiet that one almost wonder why they had it on. True, you dont want it too loud but this coffee house is small sms had a problem with echo... you cant think for all the conversations going on. Loud, stripped of its previous personality and character...I wonder if theyve had similar feedback or if its simply drawing a different crowd

Lyons Den is what coffee shop should be. Comfortable, quiet meeting place to enjoy good coffee and food. There is a balance of mobile workers, business meetings, book clubs, students, and casual conversationalists. There is even a meeting room you can borrow. My only constructive feedback would be that it is time to rent a stream cleaner for $25 and clean some of the chairs. They arent to bad, but they may cross the line in a few months.

What little food I've had here was ok. Service is... inconsistent at best. I've had everything from super polite to the dragon lady that growled at me because I forgot to ask for flavor in my latte. AND I was trying to pay her the stinking 50 cents or whatever!
The mochas are tasty but the lattes suck...
