Your typical hipster joint with the "best espresso in town" - meaning a lighter bean (acidic) roast without your dark bean mixed in to help balance out the acidity (espresso: 2/5). Service was poor as I ordered 2 small double shot americanos (they cant do 3 shots apparently). They called me to the bar with two lattes waiting for me and then had to start over and refund me in cash - turns out the cashier rung me up for the lattes...(Service 1/5). Cool space though, but nothing beats making your own espresso brew - stay home on this one.

Good latte, nice open feel, hipster wood on the walls and lighting over a center peninsula work space, but the service I received was rushed, not warm. I asked about any gluten-free pastry options, and was told, " Yeah, theres pumpkin bread down there"...in the closed pastry display. No offer get it for me. She just rushed off to clean a table. Misguided customer service priorities.

I love almost everything about this place--its in a great location in SC, and the drinks are great. Everything Ive had is good, but I particularly like the lattes: they nail the latte art, and they pull the shots so well that you dont get espresso grinds at the bottom (speaking as a former barista, that can be hard to do). The only thing I have to complain about is the limited seating

Downtown trendy coffee bar with good coffee including fancy designs to top them off, plenty of open space and tall ceilings great for meeting friends, unfortunately the Internet wasnt working great that day or it blocks craigslist and a few other main sites I tried. There are few to non charging plugs for charging computers oh and all parking in the area is metered paid parking.

The large latte is satisfying. Service and coffee are quite well here, although Id recommend avoid coming here on the weekends. The wait is long. Somehow the internet here blocks accesses to most of webpages, it is quite frustrating and the main reason why I only give this place a 3 star. I usually go to the one on 41st Ave. Free street parking is huge plus there!

It is definitely one of the signature coffee shops in Santa Cruz. It has a variety of blends that you may buy for home. It is a bit pricey. It has nice artwork on the walls. My favorite is the Elephant in de desert as an American Airlines plane falls. That painting gets you thinking. Have a Tinder date that loves coffe, take them here.

The front to back availability of doors allows you to easily duck out of either street to avoid paparazzi, muggers, and other neer do wells. While passing through from one street to the next, grabbing coffee is easy and tasty. Their missile beverage is a unique take on cold brew coffee that drinkers of iced lattes would be wise to sample.

Super guter Kaffee. Für mich der beste den ich in Californien getrunken habe. Alles toll sauber, schön eingerichtet und nettes Personal. Sehr szenig.

Probably the best cappuccino Ive had on the west coast. Expertly crafted drinks. Amazing people/staff and great conversations. It felt like I was a regular as soon as I walked in the door. The store is a great place to grab coffee and hang out or get some work done. I will definitely return.

The coffee is great and the cookies are delicious. On the other hand, prices do not come cheap. For a place that sees many people with laptops, it was surprising to discover that they do not have any electricity sockets. Better take your laptop elsewhere if youre looking to get work done.

Wow! Is how I would describe the Verve! Amazing lattes and coffee but ... the bowl of soul .. seriously warms my soul and made me feel like my life was not complete before I experienced one! Extremely talented and friendly Barista. Theres nothing not to LOVE about this place.

Delicious selection of coffee and well made. This location is pretty large with lots of seating, but for those who are gadget addicted, not that many outlets. Staff has always been friendly and its a usual stop for me as Im heading out to some beach along Hwy 1.

The coffee here is heavenly, the shots are always poured at the right proportion and plenty of goodies to chow on. Love the general aura of the space, open and well lit. For espresso, it doesnt get much better than verve. In face, it doesnt get better. period.

This is a highly rated coffee, espresso place but the latte I had here was weak and tasteless even with an extra shot. Certainly way down the list in quality compared to other places Ive been. Try Gaylords Espresso in Oakland or Cafe Mokka on Arcata.

I went for the coffee not the staff because although most looked helpful many were rude and judgemental. Dont judge me because I know nothing about coffee Im here to try and maybe teach me? But I would buy a bag of their roasts and just make my own.

Best mocha in town. 4 stars because of an unfortunate fact of life in SC: almost every business in town has a wave of new hires in summer. Here that means youre more likely to get an experienced barista that makes the drink right in fall/winter.

High ceilings, large windows, minimalist tile and exposed wood, Edison bulbs, and hipster 3rd wave coffee comes to Santa Cruz. Line up, slap a 5-er down, and sip that dark brown bean brew like its the best youve ever had, because it just might be.

Nice looking place. The coffee is poor. Bitter/burnt and not very hot. This is for a cappuccino. Hot chocolate for kids were huge even the small only just warm and very sweet. Disclaimer: I live in new Zealand so maybe I am used to better coffee.

Verve coffee is incredible. This local favorite not only has a hip atmosphere but exceptional coffee. The designer inside Verve influenced the recently opened Scout Coffee in San Luis Obispo. If you try Verve be sure to check out the Missile.

Unbelievable taste of their coffee and espresso drinks. The coffee itself is only half of the drink, the other half is the quality and skill of the barista, and they have excelled in both. Staff is superior in their customer service skills.

Really solid coffee. Cool decor. Seasonal and specialty rotational coffees. The coffee here is great and the staff is friendly and engaged. The feel here is a bit hipster, but not in your face. A great choice for coffee in Santa Cruz.

How pretentious can a cup of coffee get? These guys are SLOW, and at the end cant even make a hot cup of coffee. With the amount of milk they waste emptying the frothing pot after every drink , you could feed a small towns children.

Love their espresso, not so much their pour over. Wonderful environment, friendly and outgoing staff, and a great place to catch up with a friend. You can study here, just try to minimize your need for outlets, because there are none.

Staff is friendly and helpful, coffee is great, pastries not so much ( maybe because they had been sitting around all day). Nice, open space with high ceilings and lots of seating options. Seems to attract a fairly diverse crowd.

Awesome coffee. They take the time to really put together a delicious cup of coffee. Do not come here if you just need a quick latte. Amtoshpere was nice... a little bit crowded. Highly recommend to my fellow coffee snobs.
