I purchased my first pistol here, a Smith & Wesson SD9 VE (cheap but well rated 9mm). The purchase went smoothly, staff was very polite and helped me select a holster and ammo. This was months ago and I stopped counting rounds that I have put down range with my pistol at around 1,000 - too much fun! I had a "gun week" - purchased my first firearm, went to the range for the first time (not my first time shooting, just the first at an indoor range), and attended the Concealed Carry class at RedNex. This would be a five star review if not for the Concealed Carry class. The instructor was great, salt of the earth kind of guy and very nice, but I expected more from their class. The instructor went over basic common sense firearms safety, demonstrated a correct firing stance, went through a few PowerPoint slides on gun safety, and issued certificates. He also mentioned that he himself does not like to conceal carry. Basically, it was a gun safety class - not a concealed carry one. Lacking from their CCW class were some key topics: 1) CCW laws (at minimum, include VA) 2) Tips on properly concealing your firearm, such as holster choices and how to avoid printing 3) CCW etiquette - how to behave in public while concealing a firearm (such as attempt to deescalate or avoid trouble) 4) Making sure you can hit the broadside of a barn - no hands on exercises. There may be a different CCW class that includes this, as the instructor did mention range time from previous classes 5) Anything else specific to concealed carry If you live in this area and would like complete CCW training, I would suggest making the trip to Colonial Shooting Academy or using one of the online classes. Apart from my issue with the class, I love RedNex and I am so glad that I purchased my first gun from them. They have been extremely helpful and I return for ammunition and accessories.

I have personally purchased four firearms from RedNex, before and after the current ownership. I went to the store a week ago ready to spend $1000 on two new guns. BOTH items that I requested were "completely out of stock" from ALL of their distributors and not available. Period. "Cant find them anywhere" according to the young man and larger man sitting at the counter. Then a backhanded comment about the one of my requests being a "novelty" weapon. Really? And why do you feel that way? (After making me wait for 40 min. while you "look".) So I go home, tell my husband what I was trying to do. I wanted to surprise him. He says, "well they have them online on the RedNex website". He promptly sits down at our computer and placed an order for both guns and pays for them. RedNex has lost me as a customer FOREVER. I was made to feel stupid and unwelcome. It is a good thing that I did not go back to the store to pick up the firearms because I would have asked for a refund. They obviously do not want MY business. And on a side note...the spit cup next to the register is disgusting. I really dont mind people that dip, but you dont have to be gross about it!

Funny seems like only the women around here have an issue with this store. Ive been in there twice, feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable and unwanted. Would rather buy my ammo at Walmart or go to Gander Mountain in Fredericksburg to purchase any new guns than go here. Just a bunch of slobs. Guess thats why it is called Rednex, if you arent white AND a man your not welcome.

They have a large inventory and some nice firearms. However a lot of the firearms are overpriced. They had a pistol I wanted but I shopped around and paid $127 less elsewhere. The staff was very accommodating and they do have some hard to find ammo.
