Honestly, its one of the most beautiful and clean malls Ive seen in a while, but it has earned its title as the ghetto mall. Only about a quarter of the shops are open, and Ive those Kay Jewelers is about the only brand name shop. It is primarily jewlery stores, clothing stores, and a nail salon or two, with a dollar store type thing, and a Ross that you cant easily get into. Never found an open entrance. The food court still exists, but only has about two food places in it. The amount of jewlery stores surprised me honestly, given how ghetto focused the mall has become, until I noticed that they all had banners up saying that they sold Grillz. Something Ive never seen at a mall jewlery store before. On the plus side, they do still have an operational movie theater with some of the lowest prices in town due to most people being afraid to go to this mall these days. 4 or 6 dollars for a movie. Take advantage of this if you can. There is still a beautiful dedication by the workers and builders of the mall sitting in the middle by the now vacant information desk, dedicating the mall to the men and women of the armed forces. For such a beautiful mall, its a shame that most of those men and women are afraid to go in it now, nor do they have a reason to, with the lack of useful stores. Unless of course they want to go out into the parking lot and see a Kia Optima on 22s. If they could attract reasonable businesses back to this mall, it could become one of the best malls in the area by far. It is still beautiful and has all of the infrastructure left in place, even if most of it is abandoned for now. For all of the talk of people being afraid of coming to this mall, I didnt have a single bad encounter while in the mall. At worst I got a lot of strange looks for being one of four white people in the mall. The security was actively roaming the halls and interacting with the customers. It did not seem like an overly dangerous place, just not one that anyone who wasnt looking to be ghetto fabulous would have a desire to be at.

When My Wife & I were 1st Married, We MOVED down to "VIRGINIA BEACH, VA". "LONG JOHN SILVERS" Seafood Shoppe offered me a really NICE JOB opportunity & WE Moved down there & they put us up at a NICE MOTEL, just across the road from the "MILITARY CIRCLE MALL". "LJS" hired me as a Store Manager & it was GOOD MONEY & GREAT JOB BENEFITS. We moved into a GREAT APARTMENT on "VIRGINIA BEACH BOULEVARD" after 2 weeks & We went TOURING around "VIRGINIA BEACH" to see our NEW surroundings. "MILITARY CIRCLE MALL" became 1 of Our favorite jaunts to EAT at & to see MOVIES at on the WEEKENDS. There was a really NICE All You Can Eat RESTAURANT that we frequented at & there was a CINEPLEX that wed go to, It was CALLED The "MILITARY 6 CINEMA". The "MILITARY CIRCLE MALL" was a GREAT & always BUSY shopping center. There were clothing stores, shoe stores, record stores, department stores & other GREAT stores to choose from. Its FALLEN on hard times & its bc the CHANGES that the OWNERS need to make, they just CANT or WONT do. "OUTLET MALLS" are becoming the "IN-DEMAND" thing now bc they are MORE cost efficient & EASIER to handle.

Not much going on here, as far as the actual Mall is concerned. However, the Cinemark Theater is the bomb! This Cinemark Theater is the best place to go to the movies in the area. Their ticket prices are less expensive than most of the other "First Run" movie theaters in the area, especially during matinee times and on Mondays (senior citizen day). As far as the concessions go, the prices are outrageous as they are at all movie theaters, but if you purchase a large bucket of popped corn for $8, you do get a free refill, which in essence lowers the overall cost to $4 per bucket which is a much better deal than purchasing a small bag of popped corn for $3.75. Regarding my 2 star rating. . . The Mall gets 1 star out of 5, but I give the Cinemark Theater here 4 stars.

It is very sad to see how far this mall has fallen! The movie theater is probably the malls biggest attraction and even that has very few attendees. Back during the 90s and early 2000s you had to circle around the parking lot to even find a place to park. Now the parking lot looks abandoned. There are a couple of stores inside the mall that I like. As far as I can tell the mall structure wise isnt in terrible shape. Theres just a lack of vendors and even less consumers. Again this mall is a sad site to someone who grew up shopping here when is was @ its peak.

This mall has had its ups and downs throughout the years Ive lived in Tidewater and its sad to see such a staple of my youth die a slow death. The major difference between this mall and some others is they are being creative in how they retool some of the old anchor store buildings into office space so they can pay the mortgage. Theres one thing they still have going for them here, and thats the Cinemark Movie Theater. Very modern, very economic (before 6pm) and friendly/courteous staff.

Good place for teens who are trying to save. The movie tickets are cheap and the convenience store has good prices. Needs more stores though, lost some of its touch when they took the fountain, auntie annes, and Claires away. Plus some of other major stores like Macy etc. Ross and movie theater are the two biggest reasons to go now

I grew up going to this mall and it is not what it used to be. There are alot of empty store bays and very little mainstream retailers. The stores that are there are sketchy and cheap at best. Dont believe it will survive losing macys. On a high note they do have a great discount theater that plays the latest movies.

I have so many childhood memories at this mall. To come back and visit, years later, to see it mostly ghost town with 1-2 food vendors in the food court just breaks my heart. I hope they bring it back to life. The movie theater seems to be the only reason people walk through the mall now...smh

I enjoy this mall because the movie theater is inside and its the cheapest one in the Hampton roads. If you go in the mornings its only 4.25 after that I believe 4.75 at night its only like 6 or 7 dollars. You cant lose. Great place to find sneakers for great prices too.

Haha, you get two stars because I wasnt mugged. The mall is beautiful! However this mall has 40 closed stores and 50 open stores. The movie theater is a saving grace. 2 restaurants in the food court. This mall is in its dying throes. Now put up a football stadium! WOO!
