Were "old-school" ... weve been coming here since it was "Price Club" ... and were so happy that they have stayed in the same location. (If you ever move to some lower rent locale, just off of a deforested interstate off-ramp, you may lose us Costco!) I know some of the employees have been there for thirty or more years, and I know they love their employer. (thats important to me) We couldnt live without Costco. (... of course we could, but buying olive oil, red wine and walnuts at retail would really bum me out). Yes its often crowded, but the lines move quickly. (cashiers are FAST, and there is NEVER a price check or seemingly any kind of delay at checkout). I actually enjoy navigating through the throngs of fellow shoppers. The pace feels ... "international" to me somehow. We visited Sams during a promo. It was ok, but eerily empty. I actually missed the carnage : ) (and Costcos selection). Yes.. customer service can be a little... "gruff" sometimes as mentioned by some of the other reviewers here, but I like it that they are "human" and not programmed to be "eternally smiley". (actually in the last few years they have all been very nice). Most important is the eclectic selection of wonderful food and supplies. From the surfboard I got this summer, to free range eggs, Costco has it covered. Go Costco!

My whole family loves Costco! I love this location and the money we save. We dont buy our glasses anywhere else anymore, or are contacts because their prices are so much better. I just heard that they now have an optometrist in the building as well but we have never tried them. I like when I come after work to stock up on things and can bring the family so we eat dinner here at a great price with a lot of convenience. My kids love that they can get an ice cream treat when we come too :-) Their Stakes are amazing beautiful cuts for a good price and we pretty much by the majority of our stock items here from trash bags to eggs to coffee and toilet paper. Prices just cant be beat. I also like their fruit and produce. Always very fresh and the rotisserie chicken is an awesome deal for another easy dinner at home. I think the place I spend my most time as the photo department. I use them personally and professionally and they continue to add great options like canvas Printing and photo books. The people who work there are great and a very knowledgeable about photography printingperiod I do most of mine uploaded from a computer and pick up after one hour. Their prices cant be beat for one hour pick up!

Definitely one of the top whole sales clubs in the US. It is ideal for buy for parties, big families, or if you have a long of storage place (like my wife and I) It has great prices for the amount of food it goods you can get and besides Restaurant Depot (which you cant get into unless you own a business/restaurant) they have the best prices on meats and seafood. They also package your chicken in the most ideal and functional way as well. (In servings instead of 5lbs of chicken thighs all in one bag. Love it for nights when you just need enough for two) The bad part is you do have to pay a annual fee which means if you think about it, you have to buy a certain amount before you are actually getting those discounts. I do think Costco is directed more towards bulk that BJs as you can buy bigger quantities of items here. Which can be a good or bad thing depending on hold long it will take for you to eat them. Some pluses though checkout is a breeze, and it has always been clean. Oh and as long as your in before closing you can take your time!!

Costco is a good store, but some of the meat they sell is VERY dangerous to eat. Some of the beef is "Lance" or Blade Tenderized. This mechanical tenderizing process pushes dangerous bacteria, normally found only on the external surface of the meat, INTO THE INTERIOR. If you enjoy a rare, medium rare or medium steak, Costco steaks prepared this way could make you VERY SICK. The USDA has mandated that companies that use this kind of mechanical tenderizing process MUST LABEL THE PACKAGE, WARNING CUSTOMERS to cook the meat to at least 160 degrees. While Costco does place this warning on the package, MANY CUSTOMERS ARE UNAWARE THAT THEIR BLADE/LANCE PROCESSING HAS MADE THE MEAT MUCH MORE DANGEROUS TO EAT. Costco even does this to their USDA Prime Steaks! What kind of fool tenderizes meat already ranked in the to 2% of beef produced in the USA? You have been WARNED! Want more information, Google "USDA blade tenderizing". Weve brought this Costcos attention, but they dont seem to care.

23 September 2017 - Costco is awesome, but this building pretty much sucks. Its older and is overly crowded just about everywhere you go. The parking lot is crazy. The food court and exit areas need to be about double the size they currently are. Near gridlock at times. Part of the problem is that the greater Norfolk area only has two Costcos, which isnt nearly enough. Theyre pulling people from 1.5 hours away in NC. They need to build a store on the Outer Banks to start with. Adding another location in Chesapeake or Suffolk would make sense too. Having just two stores serving an area of almost 2 million people is ridiculous. Costco is leaving money on the table at this point. Makes no sense.

Free samples are always a treat while shopping. The food court has good food for a great price. Staff if mostly kind and helpful. There is less selection here even compared to other Costcos, however there is enough to get 90% of what you need. Like with any store some items are cheaper then others (think twice about that triple pack unless you can use it before it goes bad). Unlike any store you have to pay to get in the door, there is no express line, and checkout lines are always long (I dont think its a stretch to say they do it on purpose). Despite this we go back every month. Pro tip: an * on a price sign means it wont be back next month so stock up! ;)

I had to change my review. I was very unhappy with my membership until Costco started carrying so many organic & non-gmo foods. Wow! What a selection! I just wish they had more organic produce & it would be the only place I shopped. There is still a serious issue with rotten produce, particularly the fruits. I cant even count how many times Ive bought rotten & didnt realize it until Ive gotten home. Thats really my only complaint & reason for not giving 5 stars. Parking lot is terrible! Staff is just okay. Great deals, not the place to buy milk like someone else said. The organic selection alone will keep my membership!

I come here when it is always super busy, holiday, hurricane you name it I am there!! I have never had a rude employee or a non helpful one. ( these are high stress times) I am a manager in the retail industry for 15 yrs. so I expect good customer service and I wont go back if I dont have it. I have been please with the food I have gotten there, once in a while I get some bad pieces of fruit, but really no different then any other store. I am sure if I took it back I wouldnt have a problem getting my money back or exchange it. I havent tried to gas yet, but I plan on doing that today.
