Going to this hall dealership was literally the worst experience you can have while car shopping. This will be a long review so brace yourself. We drove two hours specifically for one car. Our sales person Miriam was seriously incredibly awesome. Super personable and really nice and made me want to give her my business. After our test drive we went inside to talk numbers. First the number sheeet they presented was 2000$ more than the internet price we saw. When I brought it up she had not ideas and asked the sales manager. He made it sound like a burden to offer the price they advertised and said theyd have to take away some warranty in its place. where after 20 ish minutes of back and forth they were unwilling to negotiate in price at all. Not even 100$. The sales manager, who looked very unprofessional with long unkept hair proceeded to tell us that they were already losing so much money on this car and that it was priced to sell (has been on their lot and sister dealership lot a total of I believe 4 months) so obviously not priced to sell. And that he already met his quotas and doesnt care if he sells another car all month. I mentioned that and a few other things as far as blue books and comparable cars in the area and after speaking with him decided it was not the car for us. As we were walking out that same manager stopped us and said if he took 500$ off the car would we take the deal. I said 700$ and he said the most he could do was 500$ and we needed to make a sale tonight because his general manager was coming in tomorrow and hed rather ask forgiveness than permission . I asked him for ten minutes to talk about it with my husband and returned to let him know we had a deal I just wanted to look at the car under the lights to see if there were any scratches I missed. He said sounds great Ill grab paperwork and well get started. So we looked at the car and proceeded to Miriams desk to start the paperwork. We sat there for literally 25 minutes before she got up to find him. And instead his manager came out to tell us that they could no longer honor this deal. And that he had no money to take off. We let him know we had an agreement with the sales manager and we wanted the deal we were told. His manager then proceeded to tell us that wasnt how it worked then I asked to bring the sales manager in on this conversation. He came and joined and said instead he had decided to call his general manager and got the no go and decided not to tell us. We then got a pitch for different financing. At this point I was furious that I called him out and said he was shady and we wanted the deal we were offered when he cut me off multiple times saying stop. Then rolled his eyes and scoffed when I told him not to interrupt me. At that point we decided to leave angry. We were hoping the general manager Mike would make things right but we have now left him two messages and tried to reach him 4 times with no success. If you want to be ripped off and wasted 4 hours of your life by all means come here. As for me I will not shop here or at any other hall and I will make sure to tell every single person I know thats looking to buy about this experience.

UPDATE****I purchased a vehicle from Hall Hyundai in Newport News on Friday 08/21. It is a 2004 Lincoln LS. This was our first used vehichle purchase from Hall but the 5th vehicle we have bought from the Hall Auto Group. The other 4 were brand new purchases. We were always very satisfied with our purchases and this is the reason we returned to Hall to purchase this used car. I was very impressed with this vechicle. I read the CarFax report and test drove it. My wife also had her own test drive and neither test drive presented any issues. We wrote them a check around 9PM that night and drove off happy. Within less than 24 hours, my wife was driving our son to the movies and transmission slipped. She thought maybe it was her accelerating too fast and continued. She was then stop at a red light and when proceeding forward, it happened again. My wife called and left a message with the service department. It was the weekend, so no call back, no problem. On Sunday, 8/24/15, I took it for a drive just to see what was going on and transmission started slipping after only driving around the corner. As I continue to drive and was stopped at a traffic light, the vechicle just cut off. My heart dropped and I hoped that we did not have just THROWN our money away. My wife called and spoke with our salesman, Rich Jakubs on Monday, 8/24/15. We ask if they could perfom a transmission flush and hopefully, that would solve the problem. Rich Jakubs, called back and said his Service Manager did not recommend this for a vechicle with the miles; 113,XXX, but he would "take a look at it". He informed us that we purchased an "As Is" vechicle. We are aware of as-is and that is why we did the research and had two test drives and in less than 24 hours we had issues? Is this the type of reputation HALL has? Was there something done to the vehicle to mask the issues? ******We were contacted by Nate, the Used Car Manager later that Monday and he arranged to have the vehicle picked up from my wifes job. He apologized profusely and guaranteed us that they would make sure the vehicle is safe to drive. Nate said he would "make it right". I thanked him and said, this is what we expected from the beginning when purchasing from Hall!

Im a little conflicted with the rating here. We bought a used car for my wife here. We pretty much knew as soon as we went in that it was what she wanted so it was a low effort deal for the sales staff yet somehow they managed to make it extremely complicated. Disinterested, less than helpful sales staff. We were preapproved for financing but of course we had to go through the "other lender" circus that is standard in the business. just one example of the frustration Despite all of that I still would have been satisfied if they had followed through with their promise to have a pint scratch repaired and and a couple small dents removed. "The guy comes in on Tuesdays" I was told, "we will set up a time for you and all you have to do is bring it in" Weeks went by with no call; several attempts to talk with the manager ended with-he is out of town at a conference we will have him call when he returns. * months now and no resolution. I would not purchase from this dealer again. On the Other hand, my dealing with the service department have been nothing short of spectacular. Courteous staff, very knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to help out . They got my car in tip top shape before my trip to Florida for Christmas and even patched my leaking tire for free!! Im at five stars for service, but maybe a 1 for sales so I had to go in the middle.
