I use to really like this store. Sadly that opinion has since gone down the drain. The first red flag was when I bought a snake from them. The poor thing had mites. So I unknowingly purchased him (I asked how the health of the snake was, watched them take it out of the container, look it over and then put it back into its box and tell me that he was in perfect health). The second and most recent incident involves the owners wife and how she treats the customers. It does not matter what you look like or how you dress if she can she will be ungodly rude to you. I witnessed as she openly harassed and threatened to refuse the selling of feeders because at one point the customer had asked about selling a snake he was apparently just randomly given by a friend and was not comfortable handling smaller snakes (normal right?). Well she proceeded to chew him out and tell him how she was "glad he did not have children". I blew this off as a bad day but then I wotnessed her harassing the same customer because he decided to keep the snake and give it to his roommate instead? She proceeded to get a attitude and tell him she should refuse his sale of he is so willing to just up and give the snake away and even harassed him when he asked for a paper bag to put the feeder boxes in incase they chewed out the box so they would not be running around in his car. A simply request that apparently requires a scoff, eye roll and a "thats inhumane" and a "you should of though of that before you got snakes". Before she stormed off. Like seriously? THIS is how you treat your customers?? I am sorry but after this recent incident adding to the piles of others I REFUSE to go back into this place. I would suggest everyone else either order your stuff online or find another shop because this place is not worth it.

Pros: *More knowledgeable that most fish stores that I go to. *The Pops seems pretty friendly * Variety. They have variety in their products, fish, and misc. They do take trade ins and do attempt to give fair credit. Cons: * The Ma has a nasty attitude. * Customer service in general could use some work. *The prices are a good deal higher than the neighboring competition in all aspects. *They dont really prioritize the appearance of the displays. I would shop here again but I wouldnt jump for it when I can go to Care-A-Lot. More affordable prices for the same things. *******Update******* I traded in fish a few months ago and left my bucket. I called and let them know that I would be retrieving it. I get there and ask about it, and the man tells me that he gives the buckets out to those who buy bigger fish. ...First off, I called to let you know that I would be retrieving the bucket. Second, those buckets cost almost eight dollars. They werent yours to give away. Third, if you didnt have my particular five gallon bucket, the VERY LEAST you could do is offer another. That shows me that you would have been willing go offer a solution to, effectively, giving my property away....nope. So Ill stick with the thirty minute drive to care a lot. I will NEVER give my business to this business and I dont recommend you do so either. If you pay to get shafted, then did you really value the money you spent?

As far as supplies and knowledgeability they are a good store just figure out certain peoples hours that work there to avoid. I used to be a weekly regular in that store and purchased most of my aquatic merch there also. The bulk of my aquatic living things were purchased there but over three years that I have been going there I talk with the owner regularly and the younger female staff, BUT I and a many if other used to be customers of theres now realize the downright sexism and rudeness of the owners wife. She will ignore certain customers aka men, she underminds all the staff and husband in front of customers with no manners or disregard of other people. With the location of the store they have a lot of theft, its understandable but not every man that walks into the shop is a theif yet you will be treated as such. Lots of supplies and knowledge of things once again, just one person in particular that seems to impact customers in a very negative way. I also have a list of 11 people who are in agreement with me, have signed there names dates and event of such incidents involving that one person. That is primarily why the brothers store does so well.

I have to say that the female owner in this store is a very terrible person. I felt very offensive about her and this store now. I choose to come here because I need to buy the supplies for my pets and it is near my house; otherwise, I hope I can never ever come here again because of her attitudes. She tried to understand every conversation I have with my family or my friends. Why would you even want to know? It is not even your business. She makes it seems like we are gonna say something that can harm her or this store. She asked us to leave just because she couldnt unserstand our conversations. She said if we are not buying anything please leave. The point is we did bought things actually every time. If this happened again, she will not deserve any respects from us because of her horrible attitudes. Moreover, we are going to solve this kind of issues seriously next time.

I definitely only come here as needed....Like today, there was horrible rain and couldnt drive to my normal store in VA Beach. But honestly, every time I go here I regret it. Theyve got good help, but the female owner always makes me feel like Im trying to steal from her store even though Ill have my items and be headed for the cash register. Not to mention every time I buy snake food, something goes wrong. Was heating up the rat that I just bought for my boa, and it split open wide all the way down the middle like it had been cut before freezing. Now I have to go back out tomorrow for another because he refused to eat it. Anyone whos shopping here should try Pet Paradise on Kellam Rd in VA Beach. More extensive and Ive never had any problems with anything, ever.

I seriously cant say enough about how amazing this place is! I have a sick fish and looked EVERYWHERE for the supplies I needed to treat him and could not find what I needed anywhere. I called every pet store from Suffolk to Virginia Beach and even work in the grooming salon at a large pet store and no one had the products I was looking for. This wonderful little store had everything I needed! And they are SO friendly and helpful! This store was quite literally a life saver today! From now on I go here FIRST! They have an amazing selection of anything you could possibly need for fish or exotic pets, plus a huge variety of happy and healthy pets and fish to choose from.

This place is terrible! The way they take care of these animals is nothing less than abuse! I will never to business with them again. I bought a snake with mites and asked for a refund and the manager was very rude and flipped it on me and made it seem as if I got the animal sick. I have also purchased a gecko a year ago from them and his growth is stunted for not being properly fed. All the cages look gross and all the animals look sick. If anyone is looking for HEALTHY exotic animals that eat and shed properly and that are also highly active and happy go to PET PARIDISE or Virginia beach exotics! They actually care about the animals and coustomers.
