From the moment I entered the Waco Academy store, I was treated with "attitude." My husband and I asked the lady employee at the front door where we could find pro football logo shirts. We never got an answer -- instead, my husband was holding our camcorder and received a lecture that he was not allowed to film in the store, to put the camera away, even though he was not filming, only holding an idle camera. We live 700 miles away and were looking for souveniors to take home. So we had to feel our way through the store to find what we were looking for. I found a shirt that had been marked "on sale," and the shirt had been marked down from $49.99 to $2.99. At the register, the shirt rang up the higher price. When I brought that to the cashiers attention, she called the manager. The manager was EXTREMELY RUDE and let us know real quick that she wasnt about to sell a $50 shirt for $2.99, and came close to implying that we had changed the price with an ink pen. While shopping, we never received any help. I am SO SORRY I went ahead and paid for the three shirts Id taken so long to pick out before the manager ripped into us about the shirt on sale. So we have made our last trip to Academy and hope management will give their employees a lesson in kindness and use some common sense. Theres something obviously going on with that store serving up such hateful, negative attitudes.

This is regarding the person that posted the negative review about academy. One if academy prices something wrong, I personally know that they will honor it. Academy does not price anything with a pen, if it was priced with a pen it wasn't done by academy. Also academy clearance items end in 88 cent. The use of photography isn't allowed in academy as well as many other retailers. Academy his a great place to shop for sporting goods and outdoor items, as many people can attest to. This review isn't factual.

I needed a pair of steel toed boots. Im a female, yet they did not carry any womans steel toed work boots. I figured that was fine because I usually run into those types of situations, because ya know, women dont belong in the field doing "mens" work. So anyway, I knew I was a size 7 1/5 in mens but there were none to be seen. I had to settle for a size 8 in mens which also happened to be the cheapest pair. Academy brand. Go figure. And they are SOOOOO uncomfortable! Thanks a lot Academy for your sexism.

An honest review of Academy. Overall I have had good experiences with the store. They have good selections on hunting gear at reasonable prices. They also have a decent selection of Baylor gear. My only complaint is with an employee at the firearms counter. He was truly helpful and answered my questions when I asked them, but he seemed slightly irritated or annoyed. He did his job and helped the customer but a smile would be an improvement. Nothing that will keep me from shopping there.

If you are buying Fishing gear, go to Cabelas, they take broken rods back no questions asked, I just went to academy to return an Academy brand rod and they didnt even know it was their rod, I finally got a manager to admit it was an Academy rod and he offered me a penny for it. Seriously a penny. I just returned two Cabelas rods and they didnt even blink. Lucky that they now have a Cabelas locally.

Some people say Academy has disrespectful employees, but anytime I go there, Im treated like Im supposed to. Im told what I need to know, and if someone doesnt know, they get me to someone who does know. Plus, they offer the cheapest prices, and have everything you need. If they dont, theyll order it with free shipping.

Everyone must wear the same size shoe as me. Every style I like gone also. They need to stop stocking all the crazy colors too because thats all that seems to be left on the shelf. Now for the bad thing about this store. Its addictive. Cant get out of there without spending lots of money. Love it.

A person stole something and ran out the store as we were leaving, the store employees that were trying to find the person were blocking the exit as we tried to leave which was kinda annoying, but all in all I like this a Academy we can almost always find what we need here at ok prices.

Left my boys tennis shoes at store when buying cleats. Went back next day and they had thrown them away. Store policy is that they immediately throw away all things left by customers. Cant think of a policy that shows less care for customer. I Will never give them my money again.

Excellent selection of merchandise, and a very clean store as well. However, the staff arent as helpful as you would like them to be, and in some cases are really hard to find. All together though it is an excellent place to go for your outdoor needs.

These guys have a large selection of fishing and hunting accessories. The prices are substantially cheaper than Bass Pro or Cabelas. Ive seen a better selection of hunting and fishing equipment here than at other Academies in Dallas or Houston.

Best place in town for all of your outdoor and sporting gear at a great price. They don’t have all the best brands like best mountain, but this is a great store for cheap camping and shooting supplies. Their gun prices are excellent!

Pretty decent selection of sporting goods at a great prices. Premium products are easier to find at other sporting goods stores. The store can be pretty disorganized sometimes, but the staff are generally helpful.

Always clean and usually has everything sporting-wise that I need. Wish they had some hockey gear. I understand that there is a low demand for it in Central Texas, but roller hockey happens from time to time. :)

My only criticism of Academy is they can become a real zoo during back to school season. Having said that, at least this location has a huge parking lot, thus eliminating that as an issue.

This is a very nice Academy, however the store layout is different from any other Academy Ive been in. It seems like all other stores gave a standard layout and this one is different.

They generally have a nice selection. I was looking for a specific item and had to be pointed to it. This is my go-to place for athletic shoes. My next purchase may be roller skates.

Dismissive employees in the gun section couldnt be bothered to check the price on an unmarked longbow for me. "Uh, I think its around $150-$160" isnt the answer I was looking for.
