Owned by a Korean and Filipino couple. Its okay. My wife ( who is pinay) and I are not too thrilled with their buffet. I think they used to own a Buffet formerly called "Mekeni" which is what you call someone from the Pampanga region of the Philippines who are supposedly known for being good cooks. Honestly, it was never fresh, the lechon was old and cold. The Diniguan was NOT fresh and I wouldnt touch it. Its hard to screw up pancit and adobo. When it was Mekeni, they had pretty good sisig at night when they opened the Karaoke bar. They have a little market, but its a bit pricier than other Asian stores that sell the same stuff. If you are in the area, there is a smaller market called Tabares nearby in a shopping center with a little cafe in the back (now on the side). They sell some good things during lunch that you cant always get elsewhere. Sinigang ng bangus, daing, and even taho in the back. Tabares has a greater variety for its small size and cheaper. They also sell things you cant get at Chockdee....like Kalamansi plants. (be careful, sometimes they are just limes)

There arent many Filipino restaurants in San Antonio, especially compared to Houston, and the ones that are around certainly dont compare (again, to Houston, or the Philippines for that matter). Still, we happened upon this place recently and enjoyed ourselves well enough. The wife is from the Philippines, and a well-stocked buffet can help cure the longing for the homeland. Theres a lot to choose from including 5 or 6 desserts. She pretty much tried everything and enjoyed it all to varying degrees of "okay/decent" to "great". My favorites were the pork adobo, chicken adobo, pancit bihon, longanisa, tocino, crispy pork belly, Chinese stir fried beef, and fried rice. I wasnt blown away by anything, but the food was definitely not bad. And for about $11, you walk away as full as you want to be. In short, we tend to prefer choosing ChockDee over other choices in town. But of course, our own home-cooking as well as the dishes our friends make will be our first choice outside of going to the Philippines.

You feel like sardines all squeezed together. The menu is always the same old stuff. Sometimes its not so fresh. Restrooms are usually out of order. Will not serve ice with your drinks. NOT HANDICAP FRIENDLY. Why he closed the dining room down and is using it as a storeroom is beyond me. It was much cozier, intimate, and you could talk to you companion without need of a bullhorn. Been going there for years even when they were over on Pat Booker and the quality has steadily gone down. I went and bought a Filipino cookbook so I can make my own KareKare, adobo, sinagang, pancit, and other favorites. I purchase my ingredients at either Tavares or the Vietnamese store on Walzem. Kim prices just go up and his quality goes down. Thats a sign of greed not good business. After 10 years I do not plan on going back anytime in this lifetime. There are better Filipino restaurants... Even Lillies on 410W.

By far the best Filipino restaurant in San Antonio! I like coming here with my family, their food is really good. I guess others that gave a bad review just went on the wrong day or I just get always lucky when I go here. Food tastes delicious, lots of choices for the buffet. Very Filipino taste which I always miss. Im very satisfied with the food and accommodation from the staff, the only thing is the place itself needs more improvement, they improved the building already however they need to keep it more pleasing to the eyes like organization inside the restaurant. And I wish they have a water fountain or a water machine so we do not need to pay for a bottled water. But all in all, I recommend this place if you are craving or wanting Filipino food! They also catered my wedding which is awesome!

Ok, I may sound biased with my review here but I can tell you that by far, no other Filipino restaurant comes close to what they serve here for buffet. I remember this when it was just a small store and eventually expanded to serve cooked food. Now they have expanded and a buffet service. For the price you pay for lunch, dinner or weekends, youll definitely get your moneys worth. You may have to wait for a table if you arrive during peak hours on the weekend but dont fret too much as theres a one-hour limit for customers. Oh and the owners are very nice and glad she still remember us after 13 yrs of being away. So, try this place and make sure you have an appetite to go along. Dont set you hopes too high if youve never had Filipino food but youll definitely enjoy it.

This was the strangest experience Ive had at a restaurant. Brought my stepdad (it was our first experience here) because he loves Filipino food. Also its Fathers Day. As soon as we walked in (6pm) one of the employees came up to us and basically pushed us to order food to go, or reconsider if we wanted to eat there. It was very weird. If they wanted to close early, maybe they shouldve put a sign up "closing early for Fathers Day." I do hear, from lots of people at work, that this place is awesome though. We decided to leave since it sounded like thats what they wanted, and came to the reliable Dragon Lake down the street :)

This place is a mess and full of gossip. That Korean guy would charge you for a bottled water. Its a buffet style but they use left over fried pork belly on sautéed vegetable that has a stinky fish sauce. The beef stew is mushy and old. The clear low mein noodle is old (you can tell by the texture of the noodle OR it has been sitting there for a long time). The beef cooked in peanut butter is old (its very watery) like its floating on beef soup. The eggplant torta is burnt (its been over fried like a burnt egg roll). The pork cooked in blood smells like sweat like you just came from the gym. Etc. . . Please DO NOT go here.

You kidding me? My co-workers recommended this saying its one of the best Filipino restaurants in SA. Lol really? They charge you 10.99$ for tira tira ( left overs). Also , its only a karinderia ( small kitchen ) and the place was astray, topsy turvy, and dirty. Look at the soda machine in the back ... Dirty and its probably not working. Chairs everywhere cluttered and tables were messy. I didnt want to judge a book by its cover but the outside looks like the ghetto. Only missing were drug dealers loitering outside. I expected more but was so disappointed I didnt even eat there.

I grew up always coming to this place with my grandmother. Its always nice knowing everytime i go they ask how my grandmother is doing and call me the tilapia boy because thats what i always wanted. As far as the place itself the food is wonderful, but not as good as my grandmothers! But you can only use debit or credt card if you purchase $10 or more worth of produce. There is also large variaty of snacks, ramen, and more. The smell of the place is unique, you may or may not like it but i find it comforting. I hope people like this place as much my family and myself do.
