I wish I could leave negative stars. Terrys employees might be nice enough but the owner Terry Ulrich or David because the woman at the counter referred to him as such but the store is called Terry Ulrich. is the most unpleasant, rude, unprofessional and just all around nasty human being. I brought a ring in that I had purchased from an estate. I wanted to see about selling it. He took one look at it and threw it at me saying it was fake. I simply asked how he could tell (because I would like to be educated should I choose to buy jewelry again in the future) he said "cause after 5 years I should know. Its crap you would be better throwing it away. There considered yourself educated" and then walked away. This was all in a yelling and belittling tone. Having recently had a very stressful day I did shed some tears. The woman tried to convince me that he was not trying to be rude. Then he returned to come out and tell me to shut up and grow up. Just a disgusting experience. God help whoever has the misfortune of being in this mans presence.

Ive used Terry a couple times. Once for taking links from a new watch that had been a gift (for no charge) and again to replace a battery for a different watch. The battery change took about 10 minutes and cost about $15 (compared to mall jewelers who charge around $50). He even took the time to show me the new battery and that is was exactly the same as the dud he removed. Hes not afraid to share a little small talk with you while he goes about his work. After my first two experiences I have determined that I will use him for all my needs. His shop could use a face lift since it still has early 90s decor but for the price and experience, I doubt he can be beat. I will say that Terry comes across as a no BS type of person and isnt afraid to express his pride. For as long as hes been in business, I would say he has earned it.

I recently moved to the area and had a few watches that needed band work. I saw the "watch repairs" sign in the window and stopped by. This fellow Terry responded basically saying that the work was too small for him. I would not have minded if he politely said he was too busy or something to that effect but he went into great detail about how my business was not worthy of his "30 years business", even showing me a receipt for a 37k ring he made. This business owner was the most arrogant I have ever experienced in my life. Since he obviously does not need "small" business the ring that I will be buying soon for my wife and the servicing I need for my Breitling will go to someone else.

I dont think Ive ever been condescended to on this level before. I took in a piece of jewelry a friend from Spain gave me to be repaired and he called it a costume piece, and told me they only do fine jewelry... Didnt even offer advice on where to go or what my options were. I would have even considered changing the pieces out with gold or silver of theyd hold better. The only reason they get 2 stars is because I think his wife heard the whole thing and realized the image this portrayed and genuinely tried to offer options.

My wife went in today to have a metal watch band resized. She was told " We dont do that here. Take it to Fast Fix at Collin Creek Mall. We dont have the tools to do that." He was rude, condescending , and a total jerk. She was embarrassed to be there and left immediately. I understand that business owners reserve the right to choose what type of work they will accept, but to do it in this manner is completely unprofessional.

My family has used Mr. Ulrich as our family jeweler for over 25 years. He is not your mass retail jeweler. He focuses on beautiful, high quality stones. He can rub some people the wrong way but if you are looking for the special piece that can be passed on as a heirloom in your family, I could not recommend him any higher. It is nice to see that his business has survived this long in such a non-descript area of Plano.

I have been doing business with this fellow for over 10 years. I have a bunch of watches and once made the mistake of getting the batteries replaced at some gyp joint in the Galleria. Average cost $50 each. It is about $15-$20 with Terry. Only a superficial person would call Terry a jerk--he is in fact a fascinating guy who does quality work and is proud of it.

Terry repaired my engagement ring after I fell and broke off the setting. He was so wonderful that I went back to him with an old ring and asked if he could turn it into something for my daughter. He was so excited about it! When I went to pick it up, I was in awe! He had turned it into the most beautiful pendant! Love him!
