So, this review is long overdue. In March of last year, I came to this place to get my PS3 fixed after being broken for over a year at that time. I turn it in and I was originally told that it would take at least two weeks. Two weeks pass by and its still not fixed. I call in and I was told it would take longer because they were missing the necessary parts for the repair. After that, I stopped calling and decided to wait until they called me to say that my PS3 was fixed. Eventually, weeks turned into months on-end and I never got call back from them. I called them back in June after not hearing from them for a long time, and I was told that the parts that were necessary for the repair was taking too long because they werent easy to find (my PS3 is the original 60GB model). I didnt mind at all because there was nothing I could do with a broken PS3 and was willing to wait longer if I had to. And then I finally got my PS3 back, fixed, in about late July. The first thing I noticed when I first received it back was that my name tag on my unit was missing. After I took it home and booted it up, I found that my HDD was completely wiped. Then I found out that my PS3 started having backwards compatibility problems that I didnt have before the repair. Finally, the last thing I noticed was that the manufacturing sticker had a different model number on it. This all led me to believe that this wasnt my PS3. After realizing all this after I got it back, I got pissed because I thought they just took my HDD and just stuck it in another unit because they were tired of dealing with me and just wanted to be done with it. I called them and told the owner all about it, angrily, because I thought they screwed me big time. He assured me that that wasnt the case, told me to bring my PS3 back in, and said he would take care of everything. And so, I bring it back in and wait a few more weeks. I finally got it back in August, which means that the total wait time was five months. I go back to pick it up, I was fully refunded all the money the repair cost, and they gave me a much needed Dualshock 3 free of charge. Overall, everything was resolved in the end and I was satisfied. My PS3 is working fine and all my PS1 and PS2 games run normal now (Im still having issues with "Megaman X Collection"). I didnt mind the wait because, like I said before, there was nothing I couldve done with a broken PS3 and I was well taken care of after problems arose. I was originally going to give this four stars but Im giving them five stars because, UNLIKE THE LAST GUY IN THE PLANO AREA WHO REPAIRED MY PS3 TWICE AND BROKE DOWN BOTH TIMES BEFORE I CAME TO FX, this repair didnt crap out on me within the first month...unlike the first guy whose two repairs didnt even last a month ON BOTH REPAIRS.

Recently visited the store after weve called in to confirm they clean old video games. The person who answered the phone responded that its usually done for free, but because of the quantity of the games (20+), he would have to charge us about $1 each. We were completely fine with that as we really needed it done since weve intended to sell these games weve accumulate throughout the year and needed some help. When we arrived and spoke to the manager, he immediately got offended and was extremely personal responding that (not verbatim) "I wouldnt put my employees though this" referring to cleaning the games despite the fact that a few of the employees at the time were just sitting around in the store, and also adding that since were "making money off of (him)", hed have to charge $2 per game. Obviously, this was not the price that was previously negotiated and I was appalled hed double the price just because of our backstory situation. Its extremely disappointing to see poor business ethics. It made no sense how were "making money" off of him, especially seeing as he had practically -NOTHING- to lose and only money to gain since he would only had the opportunity to benefit from it. We didnt have to go there and we could easily find another place to take our business to; this is just not the way to deal with people who approach you for your service. Will not return again due to the rude customer service, dishonesty, and the discriminating personal judgments used when operating the business. When we left, we thank him for his service and said our goodbyes -- in which he made no effort to respond. I would definitely recommend avoiding this place because he has zero respect for his customers.

FX Game Exchange is truly a hidden gem in Plano. Its located in the same shopping center as Madness Comics. I had been on a kick to start collecting games from my childhood, and decided to check out this store yesterday. I was promptly greeted by the owner, Trey. The store was tidy—even has an area with CRT TVs and old consoles where customers can play. I assume thats where tournaments are held as well. I purchased a Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, which I had been looking for one with a competitive price. I also bought an NES which was nicely boxed up for me. Since I knew I was going to be coming back every once in a while, I decided to get the lifetime extreme gamer membership for only $20. Got home, excited, and decided to test out the NES. Video worked great, but the audio was very low and produced a humming noise. I have a VIZIO HDTV, but then my PS2 works on it when hooked up to it directly. Trey didnt hesitate to let me come in today and exchange the NES for an even better-looking one with a less yellow top! Sadly, still low audio/humming with the exchanged NES. I think its the composite cable or just my HDTV, so I ordered some devices to make sure this one works for sure, which isnt a problem at all. Theyll arrive by Sunday anyway. Cant wait to fully enjoy my good-looking NES! Will definitely come back monthly to buy more for my collection at FX Game Exchange.

I overheard an employee lie straight to a customers face over and over. A kid came in asking if they could fix the screen on his gameboy sp. I then watched the employee make a search on Ebay. He pulled up the first result on the screen which was for an $8 screen in San Francisco. The guy then said: "So wed probably have to get the part from our California supplier. The repair would cost $90, and would be ready in about 4 weeks." The kid was obviously surprised and asked if he could just buy a new one. Then the employee said: "We dont have any in stock right now, Id have to make some calls but we usually would charge $150. Ya these nintendo consoles sure do retain their value." This is all ridiculous. First this kid was about 15, he probably could have done the repair himself with the right tools. Second, entertainmart across town sells Gb sps for $30-40 used. These people are thieves. They have a decent selection of used games, and seem to host a good tournament scene, but I would now never bring anything here to be repaired.
