I can see why some people comment about the owner and his, um, way of speaking to you. But get past that, and it seems like he really knows his stuff. However, my specific case was that I was on my way there and arrived at about 8:20pm. Google states the shop is open until nine, but actually it closes at 7. The owner was just done with a last minute walk in, and as I pulled up, he turned off the lights. I called the shop, and he answered. He told me the only reason he was open was because of the last minute customer. He asked me what I needed, and I told him I just needed a helmet, and although he seemed a little reluctant, he opened back up for me. I got a nice helmet and some good knee pads, all at a competitive price to online retailers, like inline warehouse. And although he was trying to close up, I didnt feel rushed. He let me try on everything, and I picked up everything I needed for spring break week. Will definately be going back for any of my roller blading needs.

Only an uptight, humorless, pretentious, prick would have a problem with John. He may not be your typical business owner and thats why I loved him. I went in to buy a pair of $150 K2 skates and will be picking up a pair of $300 ones instead simply because he made me laugh and made me feel like I was welcome in his establishment. He also educated me on my purchase in a way that I could appreciate. If you want the same old cookie cutter "professional businessman" type service he may night be your type. But if you want someone who is going to give it to you raw and real you will love him. I will be back again and again.

This shop has a decent selection of derby wheels and a less than mediocre selection of skates. The "greeting" I was given was simply how much money do you plan to spend. I never made a purchase here because the owner is such an abrasive a**hole. I refuse to give my money to people who feel like customers are a total inconvenience. I guess the stories I heard were true. I hope his bad attitude puts him out of business sooner than later.

i drove 3 hours just to check this place out. John knows everything about skates and more. I left enlightened. Its unfortunate how much the average skater is misinformed by other skaters. This guy will set you straight about brands, materials, bearings, wheels. He happily answered all my dumb questions and if you show interest AND PAY ATTENTION youll learn something. Most definitely will be back. I cant wait until my skates arrive!

I called and asked specifically if they had Creature or Antihero to build a skateboard. After confirming that they did I drove across the city to find out that this guy lied and only has cheap Chinese preassembled completes and blanks parts bought as cheap as possible off eBay. Thanks for being unprofessional and wasting my time. Also, put some shoes on, kook.

My body is not skater he went got 4 wheel for his luggage carrying suitcase wheel was making noise ,so his luggage does not have cheap roller has 2 x$100 wheel,he called me he was in airport he was happy with his skate wheel on his luggage suitcase. I thank the owner skate shop help him pick the right size wheel for him.

Always enjoy dropping by "the shop" to pickup skate and derby gear. The owner has a very good handle on what skates are working and which are not favored by the local street skaters and local derby teams. Same goes for wheels and bearings. Dont fail to pick his brain on technical points of the skates or equipment.
