This used to be a brand you could depend on. Sadly it has lost the hospitality edge a LOT lately. I know everyone has a bad day, but it a business where you constantly deal with the public you must be at your best, or at least try. We checked in and left our name with the hostess when we got there. I thought that a little odd to begin with as there were tables available but maybe they are short staffed. We shopped and bought some things and I never heard ANYONES name called. I did, however notice several people being seated. I took care to notice the next couple of groups as they entered the store, checked in and were immediately seated. I actually was standing at the hostess stand and she wouldnt even look at me or my wife. When the people were seated I made sure a young man who happened on the hostess area knew what had happened and that we were leaving. I guess knowing we were standing there and not even acknowledging us was the worst part. I young lady does not need to be dealing with the public, at least not without some serious training and THAT is wherein lies the problem, management. Had this person been trained properly and observed this would not have taken place. This NEVER used to happen at Cracker Barrel, but I am seeing it more and more there. I travel all over the USA and used to stop there quite frequently. Not so much anymore and that is so very sad. It used to be such a great brand, and live up the country store theme. I have been in business for over 30 years and I know its tough. But, thats business and service is EVERYTHING. Good luck in the future Cracker Barrel at 18151 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77094. I mean that. As for now, though, I am taking you off my list.

I had already been hit before by the "no substitutions" rule, so I was prepared for that. I was not, however, prepared for the DECEPTIVE MENU. Last night I took the family (5 people) to this location for dinner. Three of us ordered the Mommas Pancake Breakfast -- one with ham added. The pancake section of the breakfast menu shows a box that indicates that you can add extra meat to your meal for various prices. The ham was $3.39 (tiny, by the way -- probably around 2 ounces). When I got the bill, the bill showed $5.49! I disputed the charge with the waitress, pointing directly to the printed price on the menu. The waitress left and, eventually, returned to tell me that she had spoken with the manager. Apparently this manager isnt interested in repeat business. S/he didnt deign to speak with me and was unwilling to budge. This manager apparently told the waitress that the box showing meat additions "only applies to the French Toast breakfast". What the? If thats true, then why isnt it in the French Toast box?! Bottom line: The waitress gave us bad service (which would have gotten her a half tip), she was unwilling to go to bat with the terrible manager, and the manager is just an ass who wouldnt lower him/herself to explain to me personally why Im being overcharged. So the waitress got a $1 tip (the rest of her half tip, for bad service, went to pay for the overpriced ham), and Cracker Barrel Corporate is getting a call from me right after I post this review.

My family and I stopped due to us always having good experience at other Cracker Barrel Restaurants. Well...... Such a disappointment!!!!! It took us having to get up to ask if we were going to be served. No one had acknowledged us after we were sat down. Then waitress took our order, left and came back 5 min later with wrong drinks. When our food was brought to us, everything was so cold. Afraid to send back for fear that we would wait another 20 min before getting it back. I say this because each time we asked for something, condiments, water it took waitress sooo long to bring it. I got up twice to ask if she had forgot. Then I was really shocked, when Manager was walking around asking how everything was and when he got to our table, I began to explain. He quickly cut me off by saying " Well its not that bad, I see yall got yalls food, right? Now I see why staff is not taking customer service to a higher level. If management is that way, who do they have as a leader? While eating our cold food, the people next to us, said they had to send their food back due t it being very cold too. Then to add insult to injury, my husband had to get up to ask for more tea and water and manager came back to our table and said, " Let me give yall some peach cobbler with ice cream on top for yalls trouble. Really??? What a horrible experience.

I have been a loyal customer for many years......eaten at numerous locations in North Carolina and Texas and everywhere in between. Ive enjoyed countless delicious meals with oustanding customer service. Ive made your restaurant(s) one of my stops when entertaining friends from other countries or while on the road ........ tonight I am speechless. I was visiting this location and it was by far the worst dining experience I have ever received. From smaller than normal portions and forgotten condiments ( no butter with biscuits) to incomplete, undercooked orders. It even took over 10 minutes to get a refill on my tea..... My glass was missing from the table for that long. The level of service and food was completely unsatisfactory. I can understand if it was busy.... Ive waited 2 hrs for a table in some of your other locations before. But never on those occasions had I received such poor service. Tonight this location wasnt even at half the capacity. Needless to say I will never set foot in this location again. The company will still have my business, but at other locations.

I respect the novelty of this establishment, but the service and food quality is well below poor. After they called the wrong name for my party, we continued to stand around waiting right next to where the hosts stand was, without any interjection. After being seated, larger parties of people with more food and who got seated after us ended up getting their food before my waiter (Tyler) even showed up. The waiter took his sweet time getting from table to table. When finally taking our order, he asked if I wanted real or fake eggs (why is fake even an option?) We told the waiter that we were in a hurry. He continued to be slow. The food came out about 45 minutes later (it was a fairly simple order). The food was cold when it got to the table. Two bites into my egg, I found a hair. Then my dad found some in his eggs and in his gravy. Still, the waiter was nowhere to be seen. I talked to the manager about the situation and he had no argument with me leaving without paying. Worst waste of 2 and a half hours of my life.

Took my wife at this location for a nice dinner. 1st the waiter serving us act like he really didnt want to serve me and my wife. Every Cracker Barrel Ive been to have always brought out fresh biscuits and corn bread out with your drinks. My wife ordered the roast beef and the good was not hot at all. It was warm. When he brought out the biscuits and corn muffins not only they werent got but the biscuits were burned. Why would anyone good waiter or waitress bring out burned biscuits to anyone??. When my wife confronted him about it, he didnt have anything to say at 1st except a dumb look on his face. Then he said they were the last ones. But someone fresh biscuits just came out the oven. If anything he shouldve waited for the fresh ones. Everyone else had fresh biscuits golden brown. But my wife had cold roast beef my fish was cold and burned biscuits!! I wouldnt recommend this Cracker Barrel located on I-10 in Katy TX on the East bound side.
