I came here on a Sunday afternoon with my girlfriend on a recommendation from a friend. When we first arrived, we could not find any parking. There is a private lot for this strip mall, but its quite small and only a few dedicated spots for Antidote. Your best bet would be to find street parking nearby and walk on over. When we finally got there, we noticed large umbrellas outdoor covering the outside seating area which is nice for getting the sun out of your face. Inside, it was very busy, and it looked like a comfortable place with a brick interior and couches. However, it wasnt very big, so I wouldnt recommend bringing a large group here. My friend did recommend to order the Cajeta Latte (caramel-flavored coffee), but I chose to try the Chai Tea Latte instead. My drink was extra hot, which I loved, and it had a great taste to it. My girlfriend ordered an iced mocha, which also was satisfying, although it didnt taste like a typical mocha youd find at other coffee shops. It was good, but just caught me off guard. Overall, I really liked this place, and I would definitely come back (next time to try the Cajeta Latte). What to order: -Chai Tea Latte Pros: -Closes late (midnight everyday of the week) -Free Wi-Fi -Outdoor seating Cons: -No places to really park, quite busy

Whaooo. Im new to the neighbourhod, my host had told me this was a great place, so I though I would stop for coffee before to hit the road. I think the mistake I made was "daring" to try opening the door at 6.25 am, since I saw two people Inside I figured it was open... when I did, the guy behing the counter shouted "6.30!!!" and pointed at something on the window.... my apologies, yes it was 6.30 and it was written. I waited a couple of minutes, and received some agressive stares in the meantime. When they did open, I tried a genuine good morning and a smile, and I received the worst response and attitude from the second employee. I wished them a good day and left without ordering. Im not sure if it was my shirt they didnt like, or because they had a fight last night, or if its the early morning shift they dont like... I dont know what it was, but this was surely the worst Customer service I have received in a very long time. I usually dont post reviews, but Im guessing those two employees were not the owners. If they are I surely wont go back. If they are not, the owner can contact me, Im happy to provide my feedback. This just happened today, an hour ago...

Coffee/Coffeeshop Perfection. Got stuck in Houston accidentally when my transmission burned up. On a pretty sour day, Antidote lived up to its name for me. First, the coffee is wonderful...roasted and extracted with a very high level of expertise (tried both espresso and drip-brewed). Honestly youll have to look pretty far to beat the coffee there. Second, the atmosphere is awesome. Antidote is an exercise in incredible use of space. It seems to work well as a hangout spot, a study spot, or just a quick stop for coffee. From the bar to the bathrooms, somebody has taken the time to create a great thing. Other perks include friendly staff, free wi-fi, an awesome selection of beers (try the Real Ales Pale Ale--$2 during the 4pm-7pm happy hour!!), creative and tasty food offerings, and late hours: open til 12am. The old German sci-fi film screening in the outdoor patio area to the left was fun. As a certified coffee aficionado with high standards for coffee and coffeehouses, I can say that in one long night, Antidote coffee has broken on to my short list of favorite coffeeshops ever. Cant applaud it enough

4 stars had it not for the horrid parkings! Chai Tea Latte with Almond Milk is my go-to because its oh so delicious. If you mess this up, you should not be a barista. They support local businesses by selling ice cream from Fat Cat Ice Cream and you know how Im such a fan (not.) Im glad theyre supporting the underdogs from these big food chain in surounding Houston area. Parking is very hard and difficult. If its especially packed, just give up. I kind of have to circle a couple time and resort to parking kind-of illegally. Nonetheless, my chai tea was up to par. They also sold cupcakes from a home bakery. It was peach bourbin! It was good because I prefer cupcake with cream cheese frosting. It was worth the aftermath. Hehe. The storefront is completely seperated from its seating area and I kind of liked that idea. Furniture was obviously recycled and it was a very hippy place to be. Lots of strangers were having conversation with one another. It was quite interesting and fun. I would go back, but I would reconsidered due to the parking.

A friend recommended this place for coffee. The name really matches the atmosphere, if you like the grungy, industrial scene, then this place is for you!! Theres not much of a parking lot so you might have to park on the street, though the walk is not too far. They have both patio and indoor seating. Being a coffee shop, they also have free wifi. The atmosphere isnt too loud so you could come here to get work done as well. I think theyre open until midnight too on most days. I was recommended to try the Cajeta latte, which is a caramel latte but apparently the caramel is made from goats milk instead cows milk. Instead I ordered an iced mocha, which tastes very different from other mochas Ive had, but the taste is quite pleasant after you get used to it. My boyfriend even liked it a lot and he usually doesnt like mochas because of the overbearing chocolate tastes. He ordered a chai which he really liked a lot. Pros: - Open late - Calm atmosphere - Cool decor Cons: - Not really enjoying the bathroom, its too industrial for me!!

It is, as some reviewers have commented, eclectic. Sometimes, a bit too much eclectic is just too much. Its also very cramped. Oh well. As for the coffee: not great. I always measure a coffee shop by its cappuccino, including whether they offer a large or a small (like Starbucks) and if they can make it either dry of wet. If the answer to the former is "yes" and the answer to the latter, "no," then I have an immediate problem. Antidote is both. A traditional cappuccino has an even ratio of espresso, steamed milk, and foam; I ask for mine wet. Doing so, I got half of my mug covered and overflowing with foam. The milk wasnt that hot, and the espresso tasted like it has been pulled too long, the extraction making it bitter. Im not super impressed, but it isnt bad if you want a cup of coffee and want to sit and read. But if youre looking for high-end of the sort found at Houndstooth in Dallas and Austin, search elsewhere.

All of my reviews are based on the atmosphere of the coffeeshop, my experience with the staff, and the cortado which is primarily ranked by taste but Ill give points for presentation as well. That being said, Antidote has a nice atmosphere, a big window for natural light, and sort of old, jazz music that I liked. These are probably the only good things I can say about the place. The service was plain, neither exceptional nor disappointing. What was disappointing was the cortado. The drink smelled like something that had been severely burned, and lacked any semblance of coffee, which some may argue is the best part. In addition, the coffee itself was remarkably bitter with a similarly burnt taste. To top it off, it had a plain presentation so there were no bonus points there. Overall, I would not come here again unless someone told me that some other drink was amazing.
