I needed to get a marking gauge (tool for drawing straight lines on wood). I called this place and asked if they have one and the person I talked to said they have it. I asked if they have more than one kind and they said they have several different kinds. I went there and looked around but couldnt find it. I asked the person working at the front where the marking gauge is and he seemed confused and didnt know where it would be. He looked around and couldnt find it. Then he went to his computer and said all of them are out of stock. Thanks a lot for wasting my time and telling me you have several of them when in fact you had no idea whether you have it or not and clearly didnt bother to look. I ended up going to Woodcraft in Plano and they had 10 different kinds of marking gauges. The people there seemed to actually know what they were doing.

I took an old hand plane in that belonged to my grandfather. I was immediately met with someone asking if I needed help. He showed genuine interest in questions about how to restore my hand plane and even showed me a similar plane and let me shave some wood with it to get an idea of how mine would work after being restored. I ended up buying a sharpening stone and jig for the blade. These guys were great. I felt taken care of even if I wasnt going to spend any money. I like great service. But genuine interest and caring about my project takes it to a new and rare level. Its just a fun store to go to.

Ah!!!! The smell of fresh wood! Takes me immediately back to 7 years old in my dads workshop. Bonus, they had just what I needed to fix my chairs that were a very special gift to me almost 20 years ago! Theyre perfect again! Convenient and very friendly staff was knowledgeable of inventory. Ill be back - even if I dont need anything.
