In 2010 Consumer Depot was found guilty of deceptive practices to consumers. This place look great but...Bait and Switch??? I visited Consumer Depot and expressed interest in a Sony shelf top audio system. I spoke to the sales person and tested my Ipod and CD before asking for a box to put it all in to purchase. It was marked $49.99. Never once did the sales person remark about the price. When he went for the box he came back and told me it would be $69.99 not $49.99. I asked to speak to a manager which led me to another sales person who said he would check on this. He did NOT. The sales person beside him who was NOT engaged in my sale started talking rudely and condescendingly to me. I told him I did not appreciate this. He just kept going on and on trying to get the last word. No one verified the price as they said they would. I drove a good distance to come down and get this. I’ve shopped at Consumer Depot for years both online and off – they were extremely rude and seemed to want to prove their superiority and have the last word. I was told if I didn’t like the attitude, to go shop at Best Buy. VERY RUDE considering I was going to get that stereo system, 2 other speakers, and an LCD Monitor before I left. It seemed like a kindergartner throwing a tantrum. The second sales person who was supposed to be helping me was nice but the one beside him seemed to want to beef and beef about the situation. I think it’s because I caught them red handed in changing the price of the product on me. People don’t like to get caught esp in a business like that. Never shop there – the marked price is not the price you’ll be asked to pay. I spent 15 minutes or so looking at the item, asking questions, etc. It was not until I asked to buy it that the price went up. Buyer beware, this may be a bait and switch scheme at Consumer Depot. A better deal for closeout and similar merchandise is Essex. There they treat you with RESPECT and are fairly good with pricing. They treat you like you are an adult.

Ive shopped here for a few years locally and cant believe this place only had one star on google maps so i had to chime in. I have gotten most my tvs, my ps3, ipods,, monitors, AC units, gpss and gadgets from here. They are a open box store so expect the occasional non working piece. Sometimes you have to try 2 or 3 times to get a working item. I can see where people who order online might have some issues though. I have bought three big screen tvs from here. Ya sure one of them has a dead pixel, but I also paid $250 for a $600 TV. You have 14 days to return something that doesnt work.Xbox 360s always red ring so thats not new. My ps3 works fine that i have from here. They are not scam artists, they helped me bring my big TV to my truck and strap it up. They are not junk dealers, although they do end up with junky items sometimes. Here are my some hints to successful shopping at Consumer Depot: 1.KEEP YOUR RECIEPT 2.Test the hell out of your item for 13 days, if not happy return it . 3 If your concerned about an item, ask them if they have seen it returned often. If so, dont buy. 4. Realize that if you see a item for $100 bucks and they have the same new-in-box item for $115 pay the extra 15 bucks. 5. Research your future purchase online, check pricewatch, amazon, ebay. You might find a better deal elseware. 6.This is more like a garage sale store than it is wal-mart. Some times you can find a gem or an incredible buy hidden around a bunch of other junk. I know because I have. Sometimes a killer deal is only there for a few days before its gone forever. So check back every few weeks because there stock changes so fast. Oh, im not an employee either, just a regular bargain shopper. Happy hunting!

So here is a fresh review for a new year. Yesterday I went to the Nashville location and managed to pick up an Alienware OptX AW2210 LCD monitor. Based on previous reviews I was quite hesitant about making (another) purchase there. I have made purchases in the past and never have I had an issue with the products Ive purchased. I will say this though, know what youre buying. The products that are sold are refurbished, overstock, store displays, and retail returns that werent re-sold. Needless to say that these items (especially floor/display models) are not in the best condition and have probably incurred some abuse. The monitor that I just purchased (second from this location) is in wonderful condition. Its one of the best gaming monitors and refurbished models usually run from $245 to $500, where I only paid $140. There is a 14 day warranty on electronics and they can be returned and traded in for a product of equal or lesser value. This was made clear and I was also offered an extended warranty for a fee (which I declined). I would highly recommend doing the research on a product like a good consumer and if it meets your needs keep in mind that if you want a new product, look for one that says "new in box" or something along those lines and stay away from the display models or refurbished products. Pros: Friendly staff, great selection (at the time of visit 2/1/2012), allowed to hook up and test product, quality monitor, no damage, no dead pixels or lines, great value, prompt service Cons: Store layout is rather cluttered, unorganized sales floor, only 1 person working the checkout (a second did arrive to assist once the line started to back up)

im sad that alocal provider made me feel asthough i was about to be had. i ordered the sirius unit from amazon & got it quickly, but it failed in the first few minutes. i had 14 days for a return per the sales agreement. 3 days after i got it i was told by aj, the manager - that i had exceeded the 14 day return period. wow, that made me mad & i felt like i was being done. i did tell them i was local & was coming to get a reund or another radio, but aj hung up. i was probably more than a lil beligerent. i had my wife call back & ask for him. they spoke & he said hewould have a refund & another radio waiting for me. when i arrived, he was gone & neither the refund or the radio were waiting & he had gone to lunch. i did get a refund, but told them a free radio was not needed - that wasnt how i preferred business be done. i dont like the word never, but cantimagine doing business with them a second time - very disappointed. im trying to figure out what to say to amazon re using them as a vendor - myfirst bad experience with them. wish i had seen these reviews beforehand.

Consumer depot is at best...shady. I will not return as I find identical items on Ebay cheaper than they sold them for and their no return policy is horrible. The whole business of having to bring "orders" out of the back warehouse while you have to browse the store is weird to me. When I have returned items that didnt work they inferred I damaged it. I only brought it home and plugged it in. If you do return an item, you will pay a 20% restocking fee even if you just took it outside and brought it back to the store. There is no public restroom (really? is it that big of a deal to provide that????) The crappy merchandise is overpriced. They are a discontinued item warehouse but they charge slightly less than retail prices. AVOID!!
