My glasses broke yesterday, and I have really bad vision, so I was anxious to find a place that would be able to deliver quickly and would be relatively inexpensive, as I am a college student, paying out of pocket. I chose JC Penney because they would be able to express my order, and because of the $99/2 pairs they were running during November. I would just like to say that I found the $99 dollar deal a little deceptive. I ended up spending about $175 for the glasses (not including the eye exam, the 1 year glasses insurance, or the cost for having them expressed). First, the lady told me that I would need polycarbonate (?) lenses, which were an extra $35 a pair, because my prescription was so strong that I would probably find normal, plastic lenses too heavy to be comfortable for everyday wear. It made sense to me. I decided to pay for the polycarbonate in only one pair, since the second pair was more of a fun pair for me, and I didnt expect to be wearing them everyday. The sales lady wasnt particularly happy with that, but she got over it. Then she goes to ring me up, and even with everything, Im astounded that the price is so high. When I ask about it, she explains that since my prescription is so strong, I have to pay an additional fee (about $15 or so) for each of the glasses. At this point Im starting to wonder if it might be better for me to buy just one pair of glasses...nope. I would have to pay full price for the frames (about $120) PLUS the full cost of the lenses PLUS the extra fee for my strong prescription...it would have ended up costing the same, if not more, which I find a little ridiculous. I still gave it a good rating because I think my glasses are cute, and I dont think the prices would have been unreasonable if I had been able to wait until my insurance would cover some of it in January. However, if the Walmart Vision Center had been willing to rush my order, I probably would have bought from them instead. Once I actually get my glasses, I may change my rating if they are exceptionally good or bad. Also, this may just be a pet peeve of mine...but the whole time I was trying on glasses, the saleswoman hovered behind me and kept giving me glasses to try on that were too expensive to be eligible for the $99/2 pair deal, which made the process take a lot longer than absolutely necessary.

Went to another place. They gave me a hassle with my insurance. Wanted to charge me $50 then last time for just lens and using current frames. Jeremy was awesome superb customer service. No gimmicks or hassle. Got new frames and lens for less then other place. Was in and out in less then 10 minutes. Glasses were ready a week early.

Wish I could give zero stars. I agree why have a phone if you dont answer and when you finally get some one on the phone they are di sarcastic. Wont even schedule after being talked to that way.

Why have a phone number if you never answer it or call back when a message is left?
