I reluctantly give this place 3 stars...You would need to spend about $300 to really get a good amount of food here, equivalent to spending $120 at Shaws or Starmarket. Theyre overpriced $7 pre-made sandwiches are lacking in flavor or toppings. I got one and it tasted "gamey" I tried to eat a whole half but only got through a few bites. I brought it back and picked out a chicken salad sandwich instead and was told there turkey cant be gamey, of course they felt the need to stick up for the nasty, overpriced sandwich. The chicken salad wasnt much better but at least it didnt taste like rotten meat. I took it home and added my own stuff to it then it was good. This same day we did our grocery shopping after eating there and bought 2 packages of their "best in RI" blueberry muffins. Both packages were under cooked! There was literally dough in the bottom of the muffins! Its not like we could just go back there, because we took a can back. I called the market and spoke to the bakery department. The woman could of cared less, no apology, no nothing. She said oh let us know next time youre here. Best muffins in RI LOL not really. I was there a few days ago and saw a pack of regular English muffins for $4.99. No thank you, money doesnt grow on trees. You may ask why I keep going back here if it sucks so much, well my boyfriend pays for the groceries and if he wants to blow his cash who am I to argue? But I think I will try to talk him into going somewhere more sensible next week. Enough is enough. One more thing, went to get a pound of cheese from the deli and there are no prices at all! Must be free? Anyway, asked what the cheapest cheese is and the guy tells me $6 a pound for plain American. At shaws the best cheese is $5 a pound. Rip off!! And yes the staff there is not friendly nor do they care. Theyre actually kinda rude.

I when shopping recently and when I got home found 2 items never made it into my bags. Was told that 1 item was left in my carriage and the other item was nowhere. There was No item left in my carriage as I check my carriage carefully. And what about my other item? I spend a substantial amount of money there every week and feel I was treated very badly. And, I might add the kids that checked me out were not paying attention to my groceries. If I wasnt paying attention my eggs and bread would have been ruined. I was brought up to believe the customer is always right. My Dad owned a super market and whether the customer was right or wrong would have apologized and replaced the items. That is good business. Unfortunately after this experience , I will not return to Eastside to shop again!

Eastside Marketplace, if you dont already know, was bought by Stop and Shop. At first I was upset because EastSide Marketplace was the last large independently owned market in the area. Ive known this market for 30 years and the various owners, as well. However, Stop and Shop expanded the organic area giving Whole Foods some local competition. Much needed. Their prepared food section has improved and expanded, as well. They buy their fish from Tonys in Seekonk, which is a good local fish market. There is plenty of parking and being open until 10 makes running out for late evening ice cream very convenient. There are discounts on certain days which I take advantage of. There is student, teacher, senior citizen designated discounts which adds up when I do a large shopping.

The staff at Eastside Market have always been really helpful, and they stay open an hour longer than whole foods - a definite plus - especially as a business owner who cant always get there earlier, when I would prefer to !! I dont agree that their produce is overpriced: no more so than Whole Foods, and I have often found that they will carry an item the other store doesnt! They dont shoo you out if you get there at the last minute: infact the manager and another colleague went out of their way to help me find my misplaced car keys one night right at closing time!! All the best for 2015 to all who work there!!

East Side Market is a pretty good supermarket. They have a decent selection of modern, pricey items that appeal to the dietary restriction crowd... Im actually on the fence as to how I truly feel about this store. Ive been there scores of times over the past 10 years and yet nothing about it beckons me except for its convenience for me. Yet nothing turns me off either. Maybe its just that its a decent market and thats all. Obviously, thats just my 2¢ and take it for what its worth because I know that many people feel this is the best market in the city and area.

Employees tend to be either rude or uninterested in customer service. I always have to deal with the non-attentive people staffing the customer service counter, as well as crotchety deli workers. Everything is ridiculously over-priced. Theyre stingy with discounts and conceal the fact that they have a weekly coupon on their website. The student discount is also pathetic, 5% on Wednesdays. Nonetheless, they have a good produce selection and overall variety of goods. (what grocery store doesnt, anyway?) As the terminus for the trolley, its in a good location.

Saw that they had a sale on local produce the other week and i went in to buy some. First and for most there was very little produce out for still being early in the day. Second there was hardly any local produce to even be found. And Finally the big one it wont even last you one week as i just threw out 30 bucks worth of produce that if i went to Whole Foods would have lasted me much longer. Im vegan produce is my primary food source to have to throw away 30 bucks worth of food is uncalled for. I will never shop here or support this market again.

All I can say, is if walmart supercenter came thru sadly.. there wont be a eastside market place. It is a cute little place, but the staff there arent paying attention to customers right away. They are busy, talking to co workers and not paying attention to ppl that come there everyday. There prices are high for centain, and no one is gonna pay for stuff like that now a days. And whats up with the dog food? They have big dog food but nothing for cats? Not kool

Over priced is just the tip of the iceberg. Since being purchased by Stop and Shop the prices here have soared higher than the nearby Whole Foods. Even the generic IGA branded products are expensive. They were at one time a nice market, but recently the quality has gone down in all departments. Lack of selection is also an issue coupled with the inconsistency of brands causing a shopping experience that leaves you needing to make stops at other stores.

“This place is the best! The hot lunch is delicious (my son especially loves the wings!) and the staff there couldnt be nicer. All the food there is fresh and they carry quite a selection of different brands to chose from. The bakery is always yummy, and the staff there will listen intently to you and your suggestions. My favorite market! Definitely a three star, I would give it four starts if I could!”
