The store is jammed to the gills, the people are friendly, the atmosphere is fine, and they are largely incompetent. Three examples: I bought a fire extinguisher for my kitchen and specifically asked whether it was appropriate for that use. I was assured it that it was. Nope, when I got it home and opened the box it said in big letters "NOT FOR KITCHEN USE." I had no problem returning it, but shouldnt the person in the store have known or, at least, checked? Or tell me if he didnt know. I relied on his competence and was wrong. I needed a piece of wood cut to a specific measurement. They cut it 1/2 inch short which was as useless as if it had been three yards short. I needed to replace a the arm in the toilet that lifts the flapper. I explained what I needed and asked for help. I was given a product and when I got it home it said for use on Kohler products. Thats not my brand and it didnt fit. Again, Im sure theyll take it back, but I rely on their knowledge when I buy something from them and they really dont know what they are doing. One of the big box stores is seven miles away rather than the 1/2 mile this store is, but I probably will start going there because I do think they train their staff better than this Ace Hardware trains its staff.

I rented a carpet cleaner from these folks (Dec 21, 2009) and after it ruined my wall to wall by leaking lubricant my wife returned the machine and told the owners son what had happened. According to my wife, he seemed concerned and offered to refund the rental fee and look into the cause of the leak. But after a week passed and the fee was still on our charge card, I went back and reiterated what had happened. The owner responded by saying that she would open up the machine and call me (I left my number) with the results of her investigation. She also said that she would talk to her son and make sure the rental fee was deducted from our account. I thanked her and never heard from her again. I can hardly believe how badly they treated me. I was one of their earliest customers. Ive spent hundreds of dollars there on everything from truckloads of mulch and compost to screws and sandpaper and they simply blew me off. Its mind boggling to me that they would treat someone with such indifference, Update: I havent set foot in that store since I wrote this review. Nowadays I use Ace Hardware in Popcopson or drive to Home Depot where, in both cases, my business seems to be appreciated.

If you have a mechanical item that needs repair, this is the place to go. After taking my snowblower to another repair shop in WC and being told that it would make more sense to buy a new one because they probably couldnt get parts for it (it is only six years old and they only looked at it while it sat in my car). I stopped at ACE and spoke to Helene, the owner. She assured me that Paul, the repairman, was very honest and good at repairs. Subsequently I brought the snowblower to him. Before he inspected it, he gave me the usual rundown of what it could be; broken belt, dirty carburetor, etc. Guess what? That was all that was wrong with it!! Didnt need a new one after all! Trustworthy and honest is what I would call Paul. I was also in the store one day when Helene was gently helping an older gentleman with a problem. She could not have been kinder.

We live less than a mile away and try to go there because its a local business. The woman who I think is the owner is absolutely miserable and rude. We have experienced her shortness on many occassions. It seems like her boys that work there are aware of it and try to take over before she upsets a customer. If she doesnt like working with customers she should find something else to do. Its much easier for me to order things on-line and have them delivered in a day. It pains me to have to write this, but maybe it will make her realize the impression she makes on customers. The dog they have is worth going to the store despite the owners personality.

I dropped off a leaf blower for a tune up. The leaf blower is only 2 years old and this has taken over 10 days. they gave me the wrong leaf blower which was an older and different brand. There was no apology for the mix up and I still have to wait for them to fix my leaf blower. The owner offered no apology at the the time for the mix up and and acted annoyed that I was back in her store. They only saving grace is the dog there but otherwise, this is the last time coming into this store once we get our leaf blower back.

The store is an absolute mess. I dont know if it was their truck day or something else, but there were loose products and boxes all over the floor and in the aisles. In addition, they are missing price labels on 40-50% of their products, so its hard to make a selection based on affordability without taking the product up front. Customer service was average. The only reason Id visit again is because of the convenience of having it nearby.

I called to see if they had a pool for my dogs in early September and the man who answered the phone was very nice and told me about both sizes they had with hard plastic and the prices without leaving me on hold to look up the information! He already knew! When I got there, he recognized that it was me looking for the pool and put it in my car for me. I got in and out real quick. Wonderful service all around!

When i go into a family run business I expect the staff to be friendly and pleasant..this is not the case here...most of the staff act miserable and no one ever asks me if i need help. Plus they must have a 300% markup on everything...almost $10 for (2) 9 volt batteries!! Gouging the customers!!! Unfortunately there are no other local hardware stores close by...by the way the dog IS the only saving grace.

We shop here all the time and its always a great experience! Everyone is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I took my little dog in one day, set him on the floor to look at something real quick and he meandered off! A young employ helped me find him and what I was looking for, cant beat that customer service! As a matter of fact, Im waiting for them to open now so I can run up there!

Great experience with making copies of keys and renting a U-Haul truck. The young man helping me (I asked for his name, but forgot it since) was great. I think I tipped him, too. He was all service and made sure that I left happy. Everything together took a bit longer than I thought it would, but I didnt mind because of the treatment I received. Ill definitely be back to this location.

Amazing customer service!!! While I was in the store I got asked 4 times by different people if I needed some help and all of them knew exactly where things were located. Forget the big box hardware stores where you cannot find 1 person to help you; i will definitely come back here again!!!
