At 1st everythings fine I over hear someone at the desk say that their price was too low & they left. As they were leaving went up to get and ask of i could take a look. She said ask her husband. I walked in the store to ask him and all of the sudden I was bombared with "NOT HERE U WONT THATS NOT HOW WE ROLL" needless to say laughable. But then it continued ask we were walking out employees very rudely displayed how they really are. Ignorant & just straight up assholes. He never was polite one second if he would have said excuse me could u take that somewhere else or we cant have you do this on our property thats fine. But he was very content on coming off as the bully. Remember they were the ones who offered nothing for the books. & i waited to talk to them as they were walking out the store. Needless to say I will never be going back there again. I hope someone shits in their cereal!!!!

This is the best HPB in Pittsburgh, by far! This place is awesome! Great selection, very rarely is there a book we cant find. They will also check other stores and have it shipped for you to pick up. Or hold a book for you if you call in advance. All paperbacks are half-priced. Hardbacks are substantially discounted. But the real gem in the clearance section where everything is under $3.00. I can always find something interesting there. For those complaining about their buying prices... These are not determined by the store employees. They are determined by the corporation based on supply and demand and the commonality of the product. Dont be surprised if they dont offer you tons of money for popular books. And lighten up... These guys are friendly and like to joke around. Its a book store, not a library.

Horrible customer service!! They openly made fun of some of the books I brought in to sell. I went to look around while they were looking at my books so they thought I wouldnt hear them. Little did they know, my husband was standing right next to them and heard them making fun at one of the books and the person that brought it in. That is incredibly unprofessional!! Not only that but they offered me $4 for 10 books. Dont waste your time and give your books to someone who actually deserves them and will appreciate them. I have never seen staff as unprofessional and rude as these kids.

The great thing about Half Price Books, besides the obvious, is the way each location seems to have a category in which the selection is especially good. I dont know if thats intentional or if it just reflects the reading taste of the locals who turn books in, but it gives each location a flavor. This one seems to be best at military history and religious fiction, neither of which is very interesting to me. But I still come out with at least a couple of books every time.

Selling- Took a long for them to look over my selection, i had a laundry basket full (books, electronics, games, cds), which they said would take approx 10 minutes, but took them far longer. However, they took everything I tried selling (minus a janky camera-i understand why they didnt buy it) and accepted it for $30. Not bad right? It woulda just sat at my house anyway. Also a very organized and user-friendly store. I highly recommend it for buying or selling!

Dont bother trying to sell your books here, just use them as kindling for a bon fire. Brought in over a hundred unsorted used books of varying condition and value. Walked around for 20 minutes and picked out four clearance books priced at a total of $19.97. After looking through them, they offered me $15 for all of my books. I offered to trade my hundred+ books for their four books priced $4.97 more than their offer. Needless to say, they refused.

Such a cool store. Now that Borders is closed, I only get books at Half Price. They have both new and used books as well as DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, cassettes, records, 8-tracks and even a small selection of video games. As the name of the store suggests, everything is dirt-cheap and selection is usually decent, depending on what youre looking for. If youre looking books, forget Barnes & Noble and go here instead.

Prices are pretty mixed; there are some good deals here but a lot of the stuff can be purchased new for about the same price online. Vinyl record selection is limited and priced a lot higher than your average record store. Employees are helpful but checkout is pretty slow, especially if somebody is buying CDs or DVDs ahead of you. You can find interesting things here but be prepared to spend a lot of time.

While it is not the largest HPB Ive been it is still one of the nicer ones. They have a large selection of books at a very low cost as the name suggests. All books are high quality and none that I found had damage such as tears or stains. The staff also seems very knowledgeable, especially the men behind the trade-in counter gabbing about video games ;)

This place has very bad customer service . I accidentally forgot a binder of mine there so I called them the next day. They told me I should of called the day I forgot it because they threw it in the trash. I got no apologies they just didnt care. The store does have a great selection of books and dvds. It also is very neat and has a nice layout.

Great selections, the prices could be better I could just get them off amazon for the same price. I traded a couple things and they gave me near nothing, I checked the going prices before I went in and had two books that normally fetch a minimum of $40 each, I got $17 for both and a bunch of other stuff. Oh well, i tried.

I find that the people always try to help me find what I am looking for. They take the time to search even the most recent books that have come in before they are shelved. Some clerks walk past you without ever trying to smile or say hello, but you need to search out the ones who want to be friendly and helpful.

Great store for cheap books, music, movies, and other items. Most of it is used items at half price or less. They also sell some new books at 20% off the cover price. The only problem with this store is there is limited parking, and it can get crowded at times.

I have sold a ton of books here. They take a while to go through everything, but if you are done with the books, it is nice to make a buck or two. Dont expect too much. The kids section at this store is pretty nice. I found a couple books to get for my son.

This is a great place to buy great books for a fraction of the price of new ones! Just do not try to sell any of yours you want someone else to enjoy! No matter how good shape they are in you will NOT get even remotely close to what books are worth.

For a mostly used bookstore, the books tend to be in excellent condition and theres a very large selection including some categories ignored by larger booksellers. Theres always someone at the register when youre ready to check out.
