I listed to my wife to go in to Best Made Shoes and let the man fit me. He sold me shoes that were 11.5 I wear 11. Then without asking my permission he slipped in arch supports and started shaving them to fit me. At the cash register the arch supports added $80.00 to cost of my shoes. I suspect he persuaded me to buy 11.5 because that is a harder shoe size to sell. The arch supports at $80.00 are the new shoe store rip off. I never used them one time. We also purchased socks. He removed the out sock packaging and tried to convince me not to take the shoe box. After I left I realized why. He does not want you to cross reference what you just bought on the internet and purchase them elsewhere or cheaper. He is very good at manipulating and making you feel comfortable. He is a very deceptive person. And yes I checked he was the owner of the store. When you go to these independent shoe stores you think you are going to get some good service, all I got was ripped off. Every time I use those shoes to cut grass I think of this jerk and finally decided to write this review. Did you shop there? Did he remove all the outer packaging from your purchase? I bet he did. . . Addition OK someone might believe that BS story of why you wanted to take the box the new shoes came in. Please tell us why you removed all the packaging my new socks came in. Are you saving us from some gummed up plastic wrapping. We bought multiple pairs of socks and you removed all the wrapping on those putting multiple loose socks in my bag. What store does that. I mailing those worthless $80.00 shoe inserts back to you. I suspect you someone thumbed that shoe measuring device to make my foot 11.5 inches when you measured it. My shoes size is 11. Those 11.5 are hard to sell and you pushed them off on me.

This is a high-quality shoe shop that goes the extra mile to make sure you get the right fit. I have gotten my shoes at Best-Made for nearly the last 20 years. I have very narrow feet, resulting in a shoe size that I literally could not find in the 30 years prior to Best-Made! On top of that, I have some foot/ankle deformities to deal with also. In spite of that, the kind and personable professionals at Best-Made have consistently given focused attention to details associated with fit and comfort. Their craftsmanship is top of the line. Their expertise in the medical field of orthotics enabled them to make special shoes that very likely kept me from having foot surgery for 15 years. I personally believe that their orthotic inserts and shoe construction not only eliminated my need for awkward, bulky ankle-foot orthotics/braces, but also their ingenuity has greatly contributed to keeping me out of a wheelchair! And they somehow managed to make the shoes look good, even normal, in spite of my feet issues. They have accommodated my special needs without blinking an eye. If you have serious medical issues with your feet, or even if you have normal feet but are on your feet all day and just need a really good pair of shoes, then this is the best place for you to go.

I highly recommend Best Made Shoes to anyone who is in need of special help finding shoes due to an orthopedic problem, or anyone who just needs a comfortable pair of shoes! The people of Best Made Shoes are truly wonderful, as they go out of their way to ensure you have the best shoes available for your specific needs and they always take care of you in a timely manner. I have been going to Best Made Shoes for over 10 years, and have always received exceptional service. In my case, I was born with a brittle bone condition (osteogenesis imperfecta) and wear full-length leg braces on both legs. It is very difficult to find shoes that work with my leg braces and look good. Before I went to Best Made Shoes, I struggled to find any type of shoe that would fit my braces. Since going to Best Shoes, not only have they been able to find shoes to fit me, they are able to find me dress shoes, casual shoes, walking shoes, and winter boots, that all fit my leg braces. I am able to walk better because of their services. Thank you to the team at Best Made!

I gave Best-Made 2 stars because while they have a nice orthotic collection, the service I received was rude and uncomfortable. I went in looking for custom-made orthotics after my Podiatrist found I had Plantar Fasciitis and heel spurs in both feet. I wasnt well versed on the different kinds of orthotics, custom vs. off-the-shelf. The sales person was extremely condescending to me. I asked a few questions about the differences between my options and he acted like I was a moron for not being an orthotics expert. Very rude. I was ready to buy that day but left the store and waited to buy my orthotics from Union, further down Liberty Ave just so I wouldnt have to deal with that guy any longer. I dont think Ive ever been so turned off my an experience shopping somewhere. The place has a smaller selection of shoes but they have a nice collection of orthotics, if you can stand poor service.

Wish I could give zero stars. Do not consider bringing your shoes here for repairs. Seriously, just dont. I brought a pair of cole haan wingtips there to have a scuff smoothed out in the leather and they PAINTED the entire wooden outer sole black. How does that happen? It was cherry brown. Looks like they did this to another reviewer too! The customer service was pretty bad, no one had any idea why it happened, and they were not even apologetic. These are expensive shoes, too expensive for the flippant attitude I received. They offered to "take a look at them" but I would never trust them with my shoes again. Luckily, Joes shoe repair downtown on 4th avenue could fix them. Seriously, dont bother going here or you will be sad and sorry. Your shoes deserve better.

This place is a miracle! I simply had no idea that there were stores like this, with such knowledgable staff willing to spend enormous amounts of time problem solving and customizing shoes for complicated, specific foot issues. There is also a surprising range of stylish options. I have spent countless hours and dollars trying to find suitable shoes at various shoe stores, online, etc., only to be frustrated and still in pain. I will not be doing that again: Ive definitely found the store where I will purchase all future footwear! Many thanks, Best-Made!

I highly recommend Best-Made Shoes for Birkenstock repairs. I took my 3-year-old Birkenstocks to them needing a complete re-sole and cork correction. The repairman said he knew exactly how to correct the problem (walking on the outside of feet) and he would correct the shoe to prevent the outer-foot wear from happening in the future. When I went back to pick them up they looked brand new! The cork correction is hardly noticeable and the soles are of high-quality. Staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.

Why is it that every cobbler feels its necessary to wax up my shoes? Even when i ask them NOT to do it, they glaze up the leather like some krispy creams. They also replaced my heels which is good and fine because its what i asked them to do. Except, I guess they thought it would be cool to swap the old brown heels for some black ones. They also painted the wood and tunite/leather soles black to match. What? Thanks for painting my shoes a new color. Skip this place.
