This place brands itself as a specialty store, but my experience buying shoes here was no different than it would have been if I went to Walmart (or similar type of store). The staff brought whatever shoes out I asked for in my size, but the person I talked to did not have much to say about the differences between the shoes I tried on, other than that one pair had more support and the other less support. Since Im new to running, I was unsure about which style to go with. I was told to go with the style that felt best. Though sound, this superficial advice is what you expect from "Walmart-style" stores. For a specialty store, I was hoping for more in depth discussion, since jogging around the store is a different experience than a serious outdoor run. Based on my experience, this store is suitable for runners who already know what gear they want, but I dont recommend it for people new to running.

Anytime I talk to a new runner I recommend stopping into Philly Runner to get fitted for new shoes. They do gait analysis, talk to you about running style, avg run distance, and miles per week. All to get you into the right pair of shoes. I was a "flavor of the week" shoe buyer before I went to Philly Runner, now I only wear what they suggest and Ive never been unhappy with a purchase. They arent the cheapest store in town, but you really do get more for than just a new pair of shoes. Stop in and get some new kicks, your feet will thank you!

While a bit expensive (why 4/5 for me) they are ALWAYS extremely helpful! The people who work there absolutely know what they are talking about and go gait analysis before they fit you for a shoe. Even if you are not there for shoes they are always wanting to help you, but are not super pushy. The people there have made me want to go back and shop because I know if I have a question they will go above and beyond to do their best!

So I walked in the store knowing only one shoe I wanted was the motion control for pronation of feet. The girl who helped me was Jessica, she was very helpful and so is their staff! Bought Brooks Ariel. The shoes are awesome! A little pricy, but the shoes are a great investment! :)

I walked in looking for a shoe to give me better comfort and fit to help increase my distances. I was taken care of by Sam and she was excellent. Took her time and really made sure I left with the best equipment. I highly recommend Philadelphia Runner!

Friendly and helpful workers who can help you pick the right running shoe for you. The people who work there are runners themselves and can answer any questions. The prices are a bit steep but that is common for running gear.

This place has a very knowledgeable staff who can provide a lot of expertise. The prices are what you might expect for a brick and mortar shop, quite a bit higher than online.
