This place was GREAT! I organized a group trip for 11 and we went on Sunday July 2nd 2017. Monisha took my reservation and persevered with my super needy family (we put our group reservation in a week in advance, and I had to rebook every day because we kept changing our plans). She was knowledgeable and understanding of my needy family and was able to understand and address all my questions. Props to her for dealing with me so professionally over the phone! They have a great reservation system--you can book online, but for groups of 10+ (you get a reduced group rate) you have to call in. They still email you a confirmation with all your booking details and a clear set of instructions. I never waited more than 10 seconds for my call to be answered. They accidentally billed us $400 extra, but once I inquired they were quick to apologize, and they removed it and confirmed the correct total cost. I really appreciate that they acknowledged their error and took care of it right away. The kayaking itself is beautiful and theyre well organized and give you VERY clear instructions on where to go next, where to meet, what to expect, etc. You can expect EXACTLY what they tell you. You go to their office to check in and pay, and then you go and park at the national park (which is your final destination). They make you aware of the $10 parking fee well in advance so no surprises. Theyll pick you up in a shuttle from the designated pick up spot and then set you up at the launch site. The shuttle driver is also your instructor and he/she enjoys a good tip. My shuttle driver was a good sport when my embarrassing family started talking about how they didnt take showers that day because theyre "just going to get dirty again anyway". Theyre SO embarrassing!! The one thing I wish the instructor talked about was paddling technique. Maybe it was self explanatory but my family could have used some additional explanation--we were struggling on the river and literally everyone else and their grandma passed us. Were not THAT out of shape and should have been able to keep up at the very least. I think we just didnt know the best techniques, how to spot the current, etc., on the river. I recommend you ask the instructor for some guidance if youre new to kayaking like us. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1) If youre new to kayaking, ask your instructor for advice. 2) Keep a change of clothes in the car--all your stuff in the kayak will get wet (clearly we were unprepared for water activities). 3) The parking area (your final destination) has usable bathroom facilities, so youll be able to refresh a bit when youre done. I did not see any showers, but I didnt explore that much either. 4) The river is very clean but has a rocky, slimy bottom, and people arent always very responsible with disposing of glass. Water shoes might be a good idea. All in all, a very fun and successful trip. Thanks so much Adventure Sports!

On my birthday this year I was going to use Adventure Sports for the second time, the first time they were very rude so I opted to use a different company in town. The company in town was much nicer and even gave me a veterans discount of 10%. Despite my first experience with Adventure Sports I decided to try them again for my birthday, mostly to save time rather than drive all way back into town. While at Sophies diner next to Adventure Sports a man had a heart attack, I helped him get an ambulance, I parked his car for him, I got him his cell phone, I made sure his passengers had their luggage, I helped put the gurney in the ambulance, I even held the mans hand and comforted him. When I got to Adventure Sports I told them what happened, I told them it was my birthday, I told them I was a veteran, they could care less. Lisa and Ilene said I missed the cut off for 10 mile trip we had come to do. It was bizarre, they were totally unsympathetic and callous. I found out later that I was actually there 10 minutes before the cut off which is normally 2pm, I was there at 1:50pm, I heard also they let people go on the 10 mile trip as late as 3:45 many days. This wasnt just a bad experience these are bad people. Their attitude was you helped a man with heart attack its your problem, you snooze you loose. Birthday who cares? Veteran who cares? I urge you not go to these people, they are the most expensive service in town and the other places I have been are actually human.

I have used Adventure Sports for the last 5 years for a 2 day canoe trip. Our goal on the first day is to get on the water as early as possible, but the drop off process that Adventure Sports has is extremely flawed and time consuming. It is not possible to get on the water before 11am no matter what our group does. Here are the issues I have run into: 1) They do not open until 9am, and I think they could and should open earlier. 2) The check in process is too long for groups that already have reservations. It should be pay, sign waiver, have you done this before? yes. Ok do you need directions? no. Ok grab a life vest and have fun. The check in consistently takes 30-60 minutes. 3) Always delays in the pickup at the Gap. Whether the trailer is running late, or they are trying to fill the 15 passenger van with people so we are waiting on another group before we can depart. 3) There is not enough space in the trailer for 15 multiday canoer stuff. It is always a long process trying to figure out how to squeeze all of the coolers and equipment into the trailer. 4) The drive from the Gap to our start point (Eshback) is terrifying. I have been close to vomiting from motion sickness 5 out of 5 canoe trips. This is not where they should be trying to make up time whipping around turns, up and down hills on a trailer with no brakes. Calling it unsafe would be an extreme understatement. Our group will be looking elsewhere for our canoe rentals next year.

Weve been coming to the Poconos and canoeing down the Delaware for over 15 years and this was by far our worst experience. 1. The price is much higher than any of the other local rental shops 2. They make you drive your personal vehicle to the launching spot and charge you $10 per car to park 3. After paying the $10, you are asked to walk with your belongings a long way before reaching the boat area. It took over 10 minutes to find where our boats were and walk there because there was no one from the company there to help guide us or signs. The directions they gave us told us to wait but when the van arrived, he just told us we had to walk. 4. After getting to the end and returning the boat, it took 30 minutes for the shuttle to arrive to bring us back to our car 5. Largely, the staff was unfriendly and unhelpful Spend your money elsewhere. Update: Our reservation was booked under Max Z. and we were a party of 5. We caused no problems during our stay and arrived on time. You must have us confused with another unhappy customer. The attitude in your response further shows the type of service you can expect from this place.
