An “F” RATING from the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU of PITTSBURGH, a “1 OUT OF 5” RATING from SUPERPAGES.c om, a “1.2 OUT OF 5” RATING from DEALERRATER.c om, a “1 OUT OF 5” RATING from YELLOWPAGES.c om – check these other sources out before dealing with Choice Autos, I wish I had. I bought a car in good faith from them and on the way home realized neither the heater nor the radio worked. I didn’t buy the additional warranty since the owner, Kirk Rettger, told me if anything major went wrong which the 3-month warranty didn’t cover then Choice would pay for it since they didn’t want to sell vehicles with problems. I had to drive it back down there (6 hour round-trip) and they promised it would be done in a “few” days. It took over 2 weeks for them to work on it and when I finally picked it up (another 6 hour round-trip) the heater and the radio still didn’t work! They agreed to let our mechanic fix it (I couldn’t afford the gas/time to bring it down again), which seemed great, however the night before the appointment the car they sold me wouldn’t start. I checked the oil to see if this was the problem and the dipstick was shattered and jimmy-rigged together –either Choice doesn’t even check the oil on their cars or temporarily fix things until they sell. We had to provide towing ourselves to transport it to our mechanic. We couldn’t go any longer without the use of a car and informed them we needed a loaner. Kirk wanted us to drive down there again to get a loaner from him (which he later contradicted by saying he wasn’t insured to loan out cars). After making him understand this is impossible, Choice agreed to pay for a rental that we only used for 12 days. They then complained that we apparently said it was only needed for a week when all we said was the weekly cost from Enterprise –clearly some miscommunication at Choice Autos. Our mechanic got the car running but when he started on the heater Choice said they would no longer pay for it unless we paid half. Kirks excuse was that if it was at his dealership it would have been fixed already (even though they already had it for 2 weeks). They also wanted us to provide towing (again) to have it towed to their dealership! Choice told both our mechanic and us to “do whatever it takes” to get the car working correctly -clearly a lie. Choice also said our mechanic misdiagnosed the problem which is incorrect since he got the car running again then was going to work on the heater. When we explained this didn’t seem fair, Kirk responded in an email, “the longer you delay, the longer you go without a car.” Figuring paying for half was cheaper than court fees we had no choice but to pay. Our mechanic got it running and fixed the heater but I now have to save money to have the radio fixed (another thing Choice promised to fix!) During this entire process we were struggling through with one vehicle (besides the 12 days with a rental) and making payments on a car that I only had the use of for 1 week. I am sure they will rebuttal saying I bought this “as is” and they did me a favor fixing it but they are the ones that promised to fix it and did not. They will also say they did me a favor by having our mechanic work on it even though they agreed to this since they couldn’t fix it their selves. They will also say they spent X amount of dollars towards this car but it doesn’t matter if they spent a million, they promised to pay completely for it to be fixed and didn’t! They had their chance to fix their mistakes for the 2 weeks they had it or better yet, sell cars that work correctly in the first place. Don’t pay additional money to get a car working that this company sells you and shop elsewhere. I gave 2 stars instead of only 1 like others have, because of the salesman I originally dealt with – Ray. He truly seemed as frustrated as we were throughout the entire situation and was only doing what he was allowed but unfortunately, his good efforts were overshadowed by empty promises made from higher powers at Choice Autos.

Drove to PA to visit family for Christmas; I had been considering trading in my car (Civic) in my home town, but I found a vehicle I was highly interested in on their lot and wanted the extra space(Tahoe) for my return drive. Their website said the car had already been inspected, but it hadnt. Upon test drive the speedometer didnt work (needle at zero the whole drive), and one of the running lights was out- eh, no biggy. After haggling some numbers and being told the car would be worked on and inspected the next day, I went back to purchase. The speedometer worked for the drive off the lot, but was not functioning the next day for my 10 hour drive back home. Come to find out the vehicle had a laundry list of issues. The heater functions inconsistently; it doesnt heat at all if the vehicle isnt moving and will randomly begin blowing cold air even if youre driving. The radio/air control panel gets hot enough to burn you and Im amazed the dash hasnt caught fire in the less than 2 weeks Ive owned it. There is no spare tire and the piece to connect a spare is sheared off and useless. The check engine light has alerted me to issues with the fuel system and the rear windshield wiper is completely inoperable. "Service four-wheel drive" flashed on the dash board and Ive never used 4WD except to make sure it engaged in 4H & 4L. My vehicle was cleaned relatively well for having purchased it after snow, and aside from the issues listed above, I love that its loaded like a baked potato. I would have been very happy with the purchase price and the transaction but even having received a 3mo/ 4,500 mile warranty, these are entirely too many headaches to be dealing with on a new purchase. If the car wasnt road worthy after it was acquired at an auction, it shouldnt have been listed or I should have been made aware it couldnt have been made road worthy in the time frame I needed it to be.

Let me first begin my saying that I am a true skeptic of used car shopping and am extremely picky and particular when selecting and purchasing my new vehicles. With that being said, I must share with you a great experience I just had with Choice Auto Sales. I purchased a 2009 Acura TL through the help of the very helpful Choice Auto employee, Karim. The car is absolutely beautiful and I love it. Normally that would warrant a positive note for the dealer just solely based upon customer satisfaction of the product received. However, I have more to share with you. I have only owned the car for about two months and the rotors and brakes on my car are completely worn down from the previous owner. I called them to ask if they would potentially do something about this, being that I just bought it. They informed me that an outside company did the inspection and emissions testing and that they would help me. Upon further review of the situation, Karim called me back (in an extremely quick manner) and told me that Choice Auto was going to cover the costs of new rotors and brakes for my car. Talk about standing behind your product! I thanked Karim several times for his help, and couldnt be more thankful of their understanding and their support in making this situation right. I had already been telling everyone that asks me about my car where I got it and the service I received....and this will only make me more adamant in continuing to shout the great experience I had with Choice Auto Sales and Karim. This is a genuine post and I apologize for the length of it...However, I am just so completely thankful and excited with this whole experience, I wanted to share every bit of it on my review. Please feel confident in going to Choice Auto Sales, I swear my name on it. THANK YOU AGAIN KARIM AND STAFF!!! ~Lenny Zucco
